Daily Struggles

If We Operate at God’s Command and Pray With a Heart to See People Realize That the Lord Is God

Elijah Gave them every benefit possible. He gave them the majority of the day. They had several hundred Baal priests. When they had expended their efforts, he built a twelve-stone altar, arranged the wood, and placed the sacrificial bull. He dug a trough around the altar. Then he instructed the worshipers to drench the altar with water until the trough was full.

It must have been 3 p.m., the time for the evening sacrifice. Elijah prayed the following prayer. He stated that the purpose of this test was to demonstrate to the people that there is a God in Israel, and that he was carrying out God’s commands. He prayed so that the people would understand that the LORD (Jehovah, also YHWH) is God. He prayed that they would recognize that God was changing their hearts back.

A fire fell from heaven, destroying everything, including the altar stones! Then the crowd yelled, “Elijah, Elijah, Elijah!” Elijah’s name means God is Jehovah. They declared that God is Jehovah. Elijah’s petition has been answered.

If we obey God’s commands and pray with a heart to see people recognize that the LORD is God, we can expect to see miracles. We may anticipate God to win hearts back to Himself. He hears us when we ask for things that are in His will.

Say the above prayer for your family and country.

1 Kings 18:36-37 36At the time of sacrifice, the prophet Elijah stepped forward and prayed: “O LORD, God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, let it be known today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant and have done all these things at your command. 37Answer me, O LORD, answer me, so these people will know that you, O LORD, are God, and that you are turning their hearts back again.”
