Another progressive march is planned for Washington, D.C. and other cities and this one is expected to be politicized, too.
Following the “March on Science,” The Peoples Climate Movement is April 29 with a stated goal to “stand up for our communities and climate.”
On the website PeoplesClimate.org, organizers say everything they have struggled to move forward in the United States is in peril because “those in power” in Washington are “advancing a dark and dangerous vision” of America.
Left-wing groups 350.org, Earthjustice, Sojourners and Sierra Club are on the steering committee of the Peoples Climate Movement as well as unions.
“This definitely is political,” says Julie Kelly, a National Review contributor whose articles involve science and climate change.
“The hilarious thing, aside from it being political,” Kelly adds, “is you’ll see the hypocrisy of the environmental movement on the left: celebrities who have made fame and fortune off of fossil fuel-powered movie sets and a very energy-intensive entertainment industry trying to tell us all that we need to live off of renewables – but also this idea that somehow they’re being silenced.”
What? They claimed they’re being silenced?
“The climate cult has really gone on these vicious attacks against people, including other scientists, who question how much human activity is contributing to global warming and climate change, and they’ve really become bullies, a lot of them,” she explains. “So this idea that somehow they’re being silenced by the Trump administration or Republicans is just not true.”
The irony is that now-former Attorney General Loretta Lynch seriously considered prosecuting climate change skeptics in the fossil fuel industry, and The Los Angeles Times announced in 2013 it would no longer publish any letter to the editor skeptical of man-made global warming.
Kelly says the activists have, in fact, become the bullies.
“They are the ones trying to silence legitimate questions about climate science and I think it will be quite a display,” she continues. “I just don’t know what they think they’re achieving except to divide people even more.”
