Featured Story

In the first chapter of Joshua we see Israel preparing to cross the Jordan and enter the promised land. We read how Joshua was told by God to lead the children of Israel into the land that was promised to their fathers. And that the people were to now receive their instructions from Joshua.

As Joshua instructed them then, so we now receive our instruction from Holy Spirit. Just as it was then, neither do we listen to the voices of the world. This is why the truly saved are not deceived by every wind of doctrine. But, are stable in ALL our ways. Trusting God in everything.

So as the Lord told Joshua to be “strong and courageous” in all their battles. So the Lord tells us to be strong and courageous in ours. Joshua was able to do this because he always believed the Lord. And did not lean on his own understanding. We too are not to rely on our own logic or limited understanding. But, we must stand firm on the word of truth and know that God is with us in all He tells us to do.

In chapter 2 we find Joshua making preparations to spy out the city of Jericho before the entire camp of Israel crossed the Jordan river. He had been instructed to be “strong and courageous” in doing this as he placed his faith in the Lord for His leading and guidance. In the same way God prepares the way for us as we battle “spiritual wickedness in high places”.

Call To Arms | Mystery of the Iniquity

No doubt Joshua remembered the mission that Moses sent him on many years before that we read of in Numbers 13:33When 12 spies were sent to explore the same promised land and ten returned terrified saying, “there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight”. And these reported back to the people that the land of Canaan could not be taken because of these giants.

Only Caleb joined with Joshua to proclaim that it was “a land flowing with milk and honey”. And that because God had promised to give them the land they should not be afraid. Surely Joshua had learned a lesson from that experience. And we see how Joshua learned from his experience with God how to believe God as he prepared to lead the Israelites into Canaan.

Paul also shares with us in Rom.5 how our experiences with God’s leading and working in our lives helps us to have hope so that we can trust God. Here Paul says,

“And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.”

But, this time we read in Joshua2:1 that he only sent two spies out secretly. They were not asked to discover if they could conquer the land, but to “view the land” in preparation for entering in. We read, “Joshua the son of Nun sent out of Shittim two men to spy secretly, saying, Go view the land, even Jericho. And they went, and came into an harlot’s house, named Rahab, and lodged there.”

Joshua was not demonstrating a lack of faith by sending the spies, but was showing his trust in God’s plan and that he was ready to carry it out. So Joshua sent the spies on a secret mission. It seems he had learned the lesson from his own experience that they should explore the land secretly so that the hearts of the people would not fail from fear as they did with Moses.

God had prepared the way for the spies. Hearranged for a harlot to be the one who would befriend the spies. We see this in that it was by God’s design that the spies went to her house. Because God knew that she would tell them everything about the people living in Jericho. And how they were terrified of the children of Israel because God was with them.

Rahab was also fearful for her life and that of her family because she had heard of the power of the God of Israel. This is why our enemies respond to us the way they do. They have heard of the power of our God and know their only chance is to deceive as many as possible to thinking they are too powerful to defeat. Or that because there are more of them than there are of us they must be right. Only by trusting in Jesus and His word instead of the clamor coming from the enemy can we overcome their deception.

Deception on the Spiritual Path and How to Overcome It in ...

So Rahab was ready to risk her life by planning a way of escape for the spies. And when it became necessary she hid the two men from the authorities. No wonder Rahab is not only mentioned in the book of Hebrews as a woman of faith. But, by God’s grace was listed in the genealogy of the Messiah in Mt.1:5.

There are so many lessons we can learn from Joshua. Who sent two men as spies secretly from Shittim, and told them to, “Go view the land, even Jericho. And they went, and came into an harlot’s house, named Rahab, and lodged there.” And who also told the children of Israel to “choose this day whom you will serve”. Denoting a free will that all men have from Adam to choose who they will serve. To choose who would be their God.

We too must be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might as we face our enemies. By an act of our free will, and by the power of the Holy Spirit within us, bringing glory and honor to our God in all that we think and do. To carry out the work that He has prepared for us to do in these dark times just before we go to meet Him in the clouds.

The Midphase Blog Do You Control Your Own Narrative? - The ...

Control of the narrative is how those that are of the world serving Satan control the masses. No one must be able to gain confidence in the truth. It must be kept from our hearing at all costs.

And what a web of deceit that has been built by them today. Nothing like it has ever existed before. The Bible says satan is the “prince and power of the air” right? This is why it is so important that we know Jesus and have the Holy Spirit in us to lead and guide us into all truth. Deception is the rule today rather than the exception. Just as Paul said it would be in 2Thes.2. Only the leading of the Holy Spirit can keep us from being deceived. And with His guidance we observe and do what Proverbs4:23-27 instructs.

“Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.

Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.

Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.

Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.”

When we believe God and don’t listen to the world our experience with His dealings in our lives gives us hope that what He has said He will do will be accomplished for us. And one of the things God said what He will do in 1Thes.5:3- through Paul is;

“For when they say peace and safety, then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.

For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.”

So we should be praising Him for His awesome love and guidance in our lives. And for the blessed hope that we will see Him in the clouds soon. And not cower in unbelief as the spies who said the enemy was too big to defeat. And as those who are deceived by the prince and power of the air. Whose apparel is a sign of their allegiance to his cult.

Do you have this confidence in God? Do you believe that He has prepared the way for you as He did for Israel at Jericho? If not then you need Jesus. You need the Holy Spirit’s leading and guiding. Because He is the confidence for the doubter. He is the one who has prepared the way for the lost. He leads so all who will follow will have eternal life.

If you want this total confidence to know the way then pray with me now.

Dear Jesus, thank you for joining with me in death so that by your resurrection you could prepare the way for me to join with you in eternal life. Thank you for giving me a spirit to know you with. And your Holy Spirit to teach me. Lead me in your ways Lord all the days of my life. Thank you that as I learn your ways I will never need to be in fear again. I confess you as Lord. And believe you have raised from the dead. Thank you for saving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

PSALM 118:6 If you TRUST in the LORD what can man do to you ? Look at the example of a young shepherd boy who TRUSTED in the lord when facing an over 9′ giant who the whole army of ISRAEL was afraid of ( 1 SAMUEL 17:41—-51). TRUST in the LORD always and never be afraid, in all your ways take notice of him and he will make your paths straight(PROVERBS 3:5,6)

Amen Tim. And amen Patrick. But, Patrick, if we pour a different meaning into Paul’s words in 1Cor.15:1-4 than what he intended we pervert his gospel. And Paul said those who pervert his gospel are “anathema”. Gal.1:6-9.

An example of a perversion is if we believe “He died for our sins” means He died in our place we pervert the gospel. Heb.2:14 makes it clear that Jesus joined with mankind in death. He did not die in our place as the false doctrine of original sin teaches. All of your quote from 1Cor.15 has been perverted in this way by those who teach the false doctrine of original sin.

1st Corinthians 15:1-4, “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.” This is the Gospel.
