Feds: San Francisco man had videos of babies being raped Five-year prison sentence handed down Tuesday

SAN FRANCISCO — A federal judge handed down a five-year prison sentence Tuesday against a local resident who federal prosecutors say had videos of babies as young as 3 months old being raped.

Anton Orobchenko remains free after the sentencing order, but is required to surrender to the board of prisons by May 3, according to court records. He pleaded guilty to a child porngraphy charge last October, more than a year after his August 2017 arrest.

According to federal prosecutors, Orobchenko possessed videos and images that were “particularly heinous,” even for child porn investigations.

Prosecutors say he had a file on his computer dedicated to pornographic images of toddlers and babies.

When San Francisco police searched his electronic devices and confronted him, he reportedly claimed he was downloading the material “in an attempt to locate and eradicate it by reporting what he found to law enforcement,” a prosecution memo says. Authorities didn’t believe him.

Orobchenko’s attorney, Daniel Blank, wrote in a sentencing memo that Orobchenko was remorseful, and that in the months leading up to his arrest he had been taken care of his terminally ill mother around the clock.

“Mr. Orobchenko thereafter was staying at home and taking care of his mother 24/7 as her health has continued to deteriorate,” Blank wrote, later adding, “From then on, Mr. Orobchenko’s only social contact with the outside world was through his computer.”

Orobchenko’s mother wrote a letter to the court asking for a “minimum punishment” and saying her son obeyed the conditions of his pretrial release.

“It will be up to you, Your Honor, whether I, being in full possession of all my faculties, will end up in an old-age institution and a burden to the state, or in my son’s care for the rest of my short life,” Orobchenko’s mother wrote. “Being left completely alone with no relatives or friends, there is a risk that I will die waiting for my only son’s return.”

After reading this letter I thought about crying,(not really) it’s interesting to me how some politically correct dying mom would write a positive letter to a judge asking fo lenity , the world’s in bad need of Jesus. StevieRay Hansen
