God Has Giving Them(LGBTQ)over to a “Depraved Mind” and Allowing Them to Be “Filled with Every Kind of Wickedness”

Evil is usually thought of as that which is morally wrong, sinful, or wicked; however, the word evil can also refer to anything that causes harm, with or without the moral dimension. The word is used both ways in the Bible. Anything that contradicts the holy nature of God is evil (see Psalm 51:4). On the flip side, any disaster, tragedy, or calamity can also be called an “evil” (see 1 Kings 17:20, KJV).

Those who practice evil are in Satan’s trap and are slaves to sin: “Opponents [of the Lord’s servant] must be gently instructed, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth, and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will” (2 Timothy 2:25–26; see also John 8:34). Only by the grace of God can we be set free.

Evil behavior includes sin committed against other people (murder, theft, adultery) and evil committed against God (unbelief, idolatry, blasphemy). From the disobedience in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 2:9) to the wickedness of Babylon the Great (Revelation 18:2), the Bible speaks of the fact of evil, and man is held responsible for the evil he commits: “The one who sins is the one who will die” (Ezekiel 18:20).

Essentially, evil is a lack of goodness. Moral evil is not a physical thing; it is a lack or privation of a good thing. As Christian philosopher J. P. Moreland has noted, “Evil is a lack of goodness. It is goodness spoiled. You can have good without evil, but you cannot have evil without good.” Or as Christian apologist Greg Koukl has said, “Human freedom was used in such a way as to diminish goodness in the world, and that diminution, that lack of goodness, that is what we call evil.”

SWIPE—> I want to be honest with everyone: I feel like I messed up by sharing Concordia’s open letter stating that the QSA charter would be approved, and I’m taking those posts down. As onlookers rubber-necking on the Internet we want a digestible narrative and closure before reacting to the next headline, but allyship isn’t about moving on at the first sign of progress. Allyship is seeing things through, and Concordia’s history of LGBTQ discrimination and gaslighting is far from over. As far as we can tell, this letter was released to placate the public in light of the outcry, and its words are composed of empty statements and not promises. The QSA’s charter has allegedly been approved, but without any interaction, collaboration, or word from the school both before AND after the celebrated open letter went out. Nothing has altered around policy – the very policies that led to this mess in the first place, that jeopardized the QSA and led to the banning and disinviting of three queer community artists. In the letter, Concordia President Schlimpert uses vague language about “re-opening the discussion around the club and events policy” without offering solutions. How is the QSA to move forward? Frankly, it CANNOT under current policy, and it especially won’t if we think this is won or finished. Right now the students are planning a Drag Brunch sit-in in March while also fighting off hordes of Lutheran men who are flocking to the school’s FB page to label our fearless students “evil” while demanding they repent. Meanwhile, Lutheran ownership or not, Concordia receives federal funding and is a Title IX school actively benefiting from a partnership with Portland Public Schools and exposing public Faubion Elementary school students to its bigotry. Concordia must apologize. Concordia must acknowledge their history of systematic gaslighting and impeding of the QSA instead of chalking it up to unrelated “mistakes.” Concordia must change its policies now, and we ALL need to stand with the QSA and call for a just response. Contact President Schlimpert at 503-280-8509 or via CSchlimpert@cu-portland.edu and ask for answers and accountability for the QSA and please SHARE! ✊

The Concordia saga is not over yet. The Queer Straight Alliance students’ response highlights how President Schlimpert’s open letter ignores multiple existing problems including Concordia’s history of systemic attacks on LGBTQ students and artists. Concordia must apologize and acknowledge their mistakes and disinformation leading up to this point, including creating a narrative that the Queer Straight Alliance disbanded without institutional pressure. I hesitate to talk about this story as over or “won,” because we still need to see Schlimpert’s stated intents become policy – and can the QSA actually exist under current policy, despite the words he wrote? Either way, I am so proud of these students. They’re setting an example for all of us – and their whole school – to follow. I’m so proud of the work they’ve done and continue to do and what it means for future generations of students and similar clubs across the country. 🌈 #concordiauniversity#concordiauniversityportland#queerstraightalliance #concordia#pdx #lgbtq #queer

SWIPE—> The Queer Straight Alliance at Concordia University Portland has disbanded after years of pressure from its administration. Even though Concordia is a Title IX school receiving federal funds, it is governed by the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod, and it has systematically attacked the QSA for 3.5 years since its founding. Queer students were told the school welcomed LGBTQ+ people and some received scholarships that made it their best option to receive higher education. Originally formed as the “Pride Club” because the word “queer” would be seen as sanctioning homosexuality/sin, in 2017 the QSA won a Title IX claim to include “queer” in its name. The school responded by announcing a review of all clubs’ charters – and the QSA was the only one affected, threatened with being shut down if they held onto the compassionate language used in their charter since the club’s founding. The school has also banned and disinvited at least three queer artists since November 2016, including me after I was booked by the QSA to host its Drag Bingo event. Exhausted from Concordia’s systematic history of impeding and gaslighting them, the QSA held its last meeting Monday, January 15th and are currently exploring options to fight back and get the word out. Concordia refuses to admit any part in these events and is presenting the club’s disbanding as an independent decision by the students. In the meantime, please help by contacting the Portland Public Schools board and superintendent Guadalupe Guerrero at schoolboard@pps.net to demand answers and an investigation into how Concordia’s discriminatory policies will not affect pre-K through 8th-grade public school students at Concordia’s partnering Faubion Elementary School. Queer students at Concordia deserve the right to assemble and attain a safe education and Concordia must be held accountable for its actions. ✊

The lack of these godly qualities in anyone constitutes evil. That evil then manifests itself in behavior that is unmerciful, unjust, impatient, etc., bringing more harm into the good world that God has made. As it turns out, we lack a lot: “As it is written: ‘There is no one righteous, not even one’” (Romans 3:10).

Moral evil is wrong done to others, and it can exist even when unaccompanied by external action. Murder is an evil action, but it has its start with the moral evil of hatred in the heart (Matthew 5:21–22). Committing adultery is evil, but so is the moral evil of lust in the heart (Matthew 5:27–28). Jesus said, “What comes out of a person is what defiles them. For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, those evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. All these evils come from inside and defile a person” (Mark 7:20–23).

Those who fall into evil behavior usually start slowly. Paul shows the tragic progression into more and more evil in Romans 1. It starts with refusing to glorify God or give thanks to Him (Romans 1:21), and it ends with God giving them over to a “depraved mind” and allowing them to be “filled with every kind of wickedness” (verses 28–29).

Physical evil is the trouble that befalls people in the world, and it may or may not be linked to moral evil or divine judgment. Ecclesiastes 11:2 counsels us to diversify our investments, for this reason: “thou knowest not what evil shall be upon the earth” (KJV). The word evil, in this case, means “disaster,” “misfortune,” or “calamity,” and that’s how other translations word it. Sometimes, physical evil is simply the result of an accident or causes unknown, with no known moral cause; examples would include injuries, car wrecks, hurricanes, and earthquakes. Other times, physical evil is God’s retribution for the sins of an individual or group. Sodom and the surrounding cities were destroyed for their sins (Genesis 19), and God “made them an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly” (2 Peter 2:6). Many times, God warned Israel of the calamities that awaited them if they rebelled: “[The LORD] also is wise, and will bring evil, and will not call back his words: but will arise against the house of the evildoers, and against the help of them that work iniquity” (Isaiah 31:2, KJV). In all cases, God works through the situation to bring about His good purpose (Romans 8:28).

I got tagged in that article about witches binding Trump a hundred times yesterday, and I love witches, I do! But I love the feminist political metaphor of the medieval witch, the woman who rejects society and terrorizes it. I love witches who see karma as a poetic truth at best and not a guaranteed reality, who know there isn’t justice in a world where people are killed just for who they are – for being women or queer or of color or or-or — I love witches who come to eat men and punish their folly. Those women wouldn’t think twice about hexing a fascist who’s declared war on children, the environment, and an entire religion and gender. So remember: bind Nancy. Hex Trump. 🕸💀🕸 #witches#haxan #resist #hextrump#ladieshelpingladies

The phrase “reprobate mind” is found in Romans 1:28 in reference to those whom God has rejected as godless and wicked. They “suppress the truth by their wickedness,” and it is upon these people that the wrath of God rests (Romans 1:18). The Greek word translated “reprobate” in the New Testament is adokimos, which means literally “unapproved, that is, rejected; by implication, worthless (literally or morally).”

Paul describes two men named Jannes and Jambres as those who “resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith” (2 Timothy 3:8). Here the reprobation is regarding the resistance to the truth because of corrupt minds. In Titus, Paul also refers to those whose works are reprobate: “They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate” (Titus 1:16). Therefore, the reprobate mind is one that is corrupt and worthless.

God knows the wicked will blaspheme (Psalm 10:4), but He is always prepared to forgive—“Let the wicked forsake his way and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return to the LORD, and He will have compassion on him, and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon” (Isaiah 55:7). Furthermore, God is well aware of the difference between the convictions of a wicked heart and the fleeting thought of someone who knows and follows Him (1 Chronicles 28:9). “For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12).

Simply put, the fact that there are animals that exhibit what we might call homosexual behavior does not change the fact that homosexuality is a sin for human beings. Some animals eat their young, but that doesn’t mean it is okay for humans to be cannibals. Dogs eat their own vomit (Proverbs 26:11), but that is definitely not good behavior for us to emulate. Some insects devour their partners after mating. We cannot use animal behavior as a basis for morality or justify our chosen actions.

It is true that “homosexual” behavior has been observed in many species in the animal kingdom. Research shows these creatures having homosexual, bisexual, and non-reproductive sex, but the majority of these instances involve an Alpha male trying to dominate a weaker male to demonstrate who is in charge. It’s not about pleasure but about power and dominance. Other instances of “homosexuality” in animals can be attributed to their being misled by scent or suffering some physical abnormality. In any case, it is rare to find an animal that displays long-term homosexual behavior. Animals enacting homosexual behavior are considered deviant from the common sexual behavior of their species.

“And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions.” (Joel 2:28.)

John Wesley who said that what we tolerate in our generation, will be embraced by the next. Wesley is 100% correct! We are living in sick times.

Usually, the Lord doth no great thing for or against his people, without giving warning of it before it comes.

They perverted justice among themselves (v. 7): “You turn judgment to wormwood, that is, you make your administrations of justice bitter and nauseous, and highly displeasing both to God and man.’’ That fruit has become a weed, a weed in the garden; as nothing is more venerable, nothing more valuable, than justice duly administered, so nothing is more hurtful, nothing more abominable, than designedly doing wrong under color and pretense of doing right. Corruptio optimi est pessima —The best, when corrupted, becomes the worst.

It is impossible to find anyone in the Bible who was a power for God who did not have enemies and was not hated.

2 Corinthians 4:8-11 New King James Version (NKJV)
8 We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; 9 persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed— 10 always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body. 11 For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus’ sake, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh.

The danger here, in my opinion, is that some Christians not firmly established in the truth, will succumb to these spiritual forces of evil and fall prey to the lies of the Antichrist. We are told in 2 Corinthians 11:14 that Satan masquerades as an angel of light, and in John 8:44, is a liar and father of lies.
To prepare and to protect ourselves, we should follow the advice of Paul when confronted with the lies of the Antichrist…
Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. – Ephesians 6:13-18
