While Churchianity is busy at this time of year telling people that Jesus’ sacrifice was God’s love being shown by Him punishing and killing Jesus in your place to satisfy the wrath of an angry God so that now He does not have to torture and kill them by casting them into hell. The true message of God’s love in the gospel still shines through the pages of the Bible as one of deliverance from death to life by a sacrifice of love and grace from a God who is love which shows His love for His creation.

We see this when we learn the Biblical purpose of Passover is that God becoming a man so that He could die a man’s death made Him able to join with a man in man’s death. So that being in the same death all men are God could conquer death by the resurrection. And it had to be God because He alone possesses the power to do this. This insured that the death that has power over our physical bodies would not retain that power over us for all eternity, but would pass over us. As the analogy of Israel in Egypt showed the blood which represents the death of the lamb did by keeping physical death from those who trusted God. By this death passes over all who trust in Jesus. It’s really that simple. “God so loved the world… “

Christ Our Wisdom and Power Missions — 1 Cor 1:30 [KJV ...

So when we think of Passover we need to understand it as it is defined Biblically instead of as pagans that believe sacrifice is to satisfy their angry god’s wrath. By this pagan view of God that some Israelites adopted we can see why some Israelites were so easily persuaded to follow after false gods. Because when they believed this perversion of who God as they came to perceive God as a god of anger and wrath just as the false gods are. Because under the law every time they violated the law they suffered its consequences. So it was for some of them because of their misunderstanding of the law a natural progression to worship false gods because they wrongly perceived God to be just as those false gods.

But, as Christians, we have the Holy Spirit within us who shows us who God really is. Because it is by the Holy Spirit that God’s love is shed abroad in our hearts. And that it is because God is love that everything He does is done by and for that love. So that in the Passover we come to know God’s love. Not the wrath and condemnation of the false pagan gods as some Israelites under the law came to perceive God to be.

This is why we must think of Passover as deliverance from death to life. And not Jesus being punished in our place. Because the lamb in the Old Covenant that was slain was slain for the purpose of delivering the Israelites from death by bringing to them sanctification from sins under the law. The lamb was not punished in their place as so many falsely preach that Jesus’ death was. The lamb’s death was simply a representation of the fact that Jesus’ death would bring deliverance from death for them as it did in Egypt at Passover. Because it was by the lamb’s death that power was given to the Old Covenant. Just as by Jesus’ death power is given to the New Covenant. This is why Heb.9:13,14 tells Israel that the blood of bulls and goats was able to sanctify to the purifying of the flesh. But, Jesus’ death is much more because it is able to purge their conscience from the dead works required under the law that could only sanctify the sins of the past year. Bout, Jesus’ sacrifice is able to sanctify forever them that believe in Him.

Acts 17:30 - Bible verse of the day - DailyVerses.net

In Passover God shows us who are in the New Covenant that we have a God who does not impute sins to us as He did Israel when they were under the law. A God who apart from the law “winked at” the bad behavior that men would sometimes do as Acts 17:30 plainly says. So God does not have to punish sin as so many believe and teach. Only when one is under the law is that true.

This then is why Jesus came for Israel. Because Israel needed deliverance from the Old Covenant that brought a curse for bad behavior and blessing only for good behavior. And because this “curse and blessing” naughty nice covenant could not give life as Paul so plainly said in Gal.3:21, they needed a New Covenant that does.

But, just as we know from our own wills and testaments that we draw up to leave our possessions to our descendants, without the death of the testator who is Jesus there could be no New Covenant. Because Heb.9:17 says plainly that a covenant has no power as long as the testator lives.

This is why Jesus’ death must never be considered the payment of a penalty like that which pagans offer in sacrifice to their false gods to appease their god’s wrath. The gods that Israel in their wrong assumptions about God’s requirement to have His wrath appeased with the sacrifice of the innocent so easily came to worship. But, it must be known only as of the method for what the testator possesses, which in Jesus’ case is eternal life, to become the possession of the one the testament is left for. For Israel, it was for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament because then they would no longer be held captive to that system. But, delivered from that Old Covenant into a New Covenant.

This then was the purpose of Passover for Israel. Because in the Passover death has no power over them because being delivered from death to life eternally, as Israel was by analogy when the death angel passed over them in Egypt, in the New Covenant they are now no longer under the system wherein sin derives its power as Paul says it does in 1Cor.15:56. This is why Paul taught “For he who is dead is free from sin” in Rom.6:7. Because sin only has power by the law. And when Israel is no longer under law but under grace, as Paul said they would be if they trust in Jesus, sin has no more power over them. So that they are no longer slaves to it.

1 Corinthians 15:56 The Sting Of Death Is Sin (red)

And as for the Gentiles who were never part of the covenant God had with Israel, Passover means for them that when they are delivered from their idols into a covenant with God by faith in Jesus’ death and resurrection they too are free from death’s power. So that when physical death happens they are not held by death any longer. But, have eternal life because Jesus conquered death. So death passes over them as it did for Israel in Egypt.

This is why when Gentiles and Israelites trust in Jesus they come into the New Covenant and are both made the “one new man” of Eph.2:15 where Paul said,

“Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby: And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh. For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.”

For both groups, this is accomplished through what Passover shows us. Because by Jesus’ death which is represented in the blood of the lamb on the Israelite’s doorposts, He makes eternal death Passover all who will believe in Him and His resurrection. His love for us that brought Him in the same flesh all men have. So that because of His love for us He died a man’s death. Because only by this could He join with a man in man’s death. So that by His resurrection He could conquer man’s death for all mankind who will trust in Him. And it is by this great act of God’s unconditional love that He has taken away the power death had over us by causing death to Passover us because His blood which is His death and resurrection is over our doorposts when we believe He conquered death, as it was by analogy for Israel in Egypt.

This is why Jesus told them “fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell” in Mt.10:28. Not that we must fear God because of any anger He has towards bad behavior. Because only under the law God does impute trespasses. And we are not under law but under grace in this dispensation. But, only that we need to recognize that unless we trust in Him and receive His gift of eternal life by the New Covenant, we are not His children by birth who are the only ones that are eligible to inherit His possession of eternal life.

By understanding the Passover as God’s deliverance from death to life by His conquering of death by His death and the resurrection, we will know God’s grace which is His love in action. A love that changed the world forever. A love that has caused eternal death to Passover all who believe in Him. A love that is not subject to anything. But, stands alone as the sole reason for joining with mankind in our death. Because only by doing this was God able to cause death to Passover those who have been born of God to inherit eternal life.

Will you be born of His Spirit so you too can inherit eternal life? The fleshly birth only prepared you for this natural world where death reigns. Will you too be born again by being born of His Spirit? So that as His child you will now have for your inheritance His kingdom that is eternal where there is no death?

Bible Verses about Eternal Life – ScriptureWay - ScriptureWay

If you are reading this God is calling you. He loves you and wants you to know Him. Because knowing Him is this eternal life that provides you with the spirit that makes you God’s child.John17:3. Because while all men are created by God, not all men are born of His Spirit so that they are children of God. It is only those who have come to know Him that is spiritual because knowing Him is to be born of His Spirit. So if you do not know Him, but have now believed that He is Lord and that He has raised from the dead to conquer death for you, then please take the time right now to talk to Him and confess to Jesus that He is Lord of your life. And believe that He has raised from the dead to conquer death for you. If you do believe in Him then tell Him something like this and you will have eternal life:

Dear Jesus, I believe you. Thank you for joining with me in death so that by conquering death by your resurrection I could join with you in eternal life. Thank you that you raised from the dead so that I could raise from the dead too by trusting in, clinging to, and relying solely on you. Thank you for giving me a new spirit now Lord so that I can live with you in your kingdom forever. In Jesus’ name, amen.

By praying a prayer similar to this one and really meaning it from your heart you have been saved from death to life. From sin to righteousness. And from the wrath to peace with God. And now as you begin reading the Bible and believing what it plainly says it will begin to change the way you think and believe. Because when you trust in Jesus you leave the old life behind where you were only able to relate to and trust in what has been made. And now will be equipped for God’s kingdom because you are no longer only natural flesh and blood, but are a new creature made a spiritual being ready to inherit God’s spiritual kingdom. It is because of Jesus’ resurrection that He is the only WAY, THE TRUTH, AND THE LIFE. Because only Jesus has broken through the wall of death that the flesh and blood natural body can never get through. And only by the new birth are we made ready to receive the spiritual body that can go through the wall of death as Jesus’ did first so we could follow Him in the way He has prepared for us.

God Bless you in your new life in Christ.
