Pa. hospitals on the brink of a staffing crisis as COVID-19 surges | News Break

According to the Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center, COVID-19 hospitalizations are on the rise in Pennsylvania and many other states. The increased number of patients has caused hospitals and long-term care facilities to run out of space.

COVID-related hospitalizations in Pennsylvania hit an all-time high this week, with 7,488 cases reported on January 10. There were 3,774 hospitalizations on November 22nd, which is more than double the number of cases.

84 percent of Pennsylvania’s hospital beds were occupied last week.

According to the Hospital Association of Pennsylvania, three percent of Pennsylvania hospitals have both their ICU and inpatient staffed beds at or above capacity.

“Hospitals across Pennsylvania are strained, and many are at or approaching capacity as they treat more patients while experiencing continued staffing challenges,” Liam Migdail, spokesman for the Hospital Association of Pennsylvania, told The Epoch Times.

“There is higher demand for care due to seasonal illnesses and complications related to care being delayed earlier in the pandemic. This is all compounded by a staffing crisis that was a challenge even before the pandemic, but has significantly intensified over the past year as more clinicians and support staff leave their positions due to burnout and fatigue.”

Hospitals and long-term care institutions, fearful of losing important federal Medicare/Medicaid funding, followed President Joe Biden’s directive to require all personnel to get vaccinated, further complicating the staffing problem. Those who refused to be vaccinated were sacked in large numbers.

According to the Pennsylvania Health Care Association (PHCA), an advocacy group for long-term care facilities, the capacity problem is being exacerbated by the battle to release patients from hospitals to long-term care facilities.

These aren’t only old people’s nursing homes. Long-term care facilities are also where patients go for rehabilitative services following trauma or major surgery, as well as anyone who requires protracted hospitalization, adults with impairments, or anyone who requires 24/7 care.

Long-term care facilities, on the other hand, are experiencing severe staffing shortages that preclude them from taking new residents, according to Zach Shamberg, president and CEO of the PHCA. When the PHCA issued a warning about dwindling access to long-term care facilities in October, it underlined this worry. It provided survey data at the time, revealing that many nursing facilities in Pennsylvania were so short-staffed that they couldn’t take on any additional patients. Instead, patients on the verge of being discharged from the hospital were placed on waiting lists and forced to look for an opening, often tens of miles away from their family.

As the number of COVID cases rises, the capacity problem worsens, with patients seeking long-term care stranded in hospitals, occupying beds that could be used by new patients.

The Department of Health in Pennsylvania regulates how many beds a long-term care facility can have based on the number of employees. Currently, facilities must give each patient with 2.7 hours of direct care every day, primarily from nursing staff. When an institution loses employees, beds are lost as well.

On Jan. 7, Governor Tom Wolf’s office issued a news statement indicating that the state is working with FEMA to arrange regional support stations for hospitals and long-term care facilities, as well as “strike squads” to assist hospitals facing staffing shortages.

According to the press release, these help sites will be available starting in February.

The Pennsylvania Department of Health was asked why it will take a month to handle the current staffing crisis in an email, but the department did not respond.

According to a recent National Guard press release, the Pennsylvania National Guard currently has 110 military members working at some of Pennsylvania’s 1,900 long-term care institutions to assist with staffing.

In an effort to address the overall staffing crisis, the PHCA presented the Department of Health and members of the general assembly with a “Care Capacity Crises Plan” this week.

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, we recognize the need of working together to overcome and combat the latest rise in health-care needs,” Shamberg stated. “The entire health-care continuum is facing a massive challenge, but working together—with health-care specialists, elected officials, and regulatory agencies—we can design and implement solutions to guarantee Pennsylvania emerges victorious from this difficult period.” That is why we created and implemented a plan that will, with support, enable long-term care providers to do their jobs and fulfill their purpose of supporting our state’s most vulnerable citizens.”

More National Guard members have been requested by the PHCA. It has requested a detailed strategy from the Department of Health, as well as $200 million in American Rescue Plan funding to be utilized as retention bonuses for long-term care institutions to keep their current workforce.

Pennsylvania should also work with the federal government to raise its allocation of monoclonal antibodies and devise a distribution plan, according to the plan.

According to the PHCA strategy, “the delivery of monoclonal antibodies to long-term care providers can help reduce hospital stays and avoid serious sickness among a vulnerable population.”

To every single American that has wrongfully displaced due to tyrannical plandemic legislature and restriction, you have my prayers. God just needs some people on the sidelines right now, perhaps to open their eyes, or perhaps because they’re being called out of these medical facilities by God because the people have left God, and forgotten his commandments. 1 Peter 4:12-14 says: “Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice insofar as you share Christ’s sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed. If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you.”

The truth is, they don’t want to speak about the vaccine mandate because they know that there are real, hard working Americans who have been displaced. So they don’t want to give the people a pedestal to stand on, they want to keep everyone affected by the medical tyranny very quiet. Are we to seriously believe that nobody has anything to say about this? People in the public eye are scared to speak out, because fans are fickle. Never mind your social status when your God given rights are being stripped of you. Anyone can take a look out there and know that it’s time to work on your relationship with God. Because in the blink of an eye everything that we have can be taken from us. Stay inquisitive in the word of God, and the world around you.

On Jan. 5, Chinese President Xi Jinping issued the regime’s military with mobilization directives, saying it must evolve into an elite force capable of winning any war.

According to state-run news agency Xinhua, the order stated, “The armed forces must closely follow the evolution of technology, warfare, and rivals, redouble their efforts to better combine training with combat operations, and strengthen systematic training and the use of technologies to develop an elite force that is capable of fighting and winning wars,”

Since 2018, Xi, who serves as both the general secretary of the Chinese Communist Party and the chairman of the Central Military Commission, has issued annual mobilization orders. The directives set the military’s priorities for the following year and begin military-wide training.

The commands come as the CCP adopts a more belligerent approach to foreign relations, which coincides with deteriorating relations between the dictatorship and the rest of the world.

Xi has conducted major reforms across the entire Chinese society since taking office in 2012, including a massive restructuring of the military that began in 2015.

Xi has tried to dramatically strengthen his personal influence over military leadership in the interim, promoting at least 58 generals loyal to him and supportive of his reforms.

The technology-focused mobilization order comes after the CCP signed a joint declaration with the other UN Security Council members earlier this week. The regime’s leadership stated in it that the spread of nuclear weapons must be stopped.

However, a Chinese official stated shortly after the declaration that the regime would continue to develop its nuclear arsenal and would not make any concessions until the US and Russia had fewer nuclear weapons than it did.

The US has been increasingly concerned about China’s growing military capabilities.

The US military unveiled new software in December to help predict how its actions could enrage China’s communist regime. The software was branded a “appeasement app” by some critics since it’s just evaluating the demands of the CCP.

New Russian assault helicopter bids, an increasing fleet, a record number of Chinese military aircraft incursions into Taiwan’s air defense identification zone, Taiwan invasion scenarios, and a hypersonic weapon test in July are among the various arising concerns regarding China’s military activity.

In response, the Pentagon stated its next national security strategy would emphasize global alliances and partnerships while dealing with China as a “pacing challenge.”

A pacing challenge is one way to describe the government getting an elite force ready for war. Or you could say that China is aiming to bolster its military forces in preparation to conquer whoever is in their way of survival. Because that’s the reality of the situation, they want to win any conflict just like we do. With that being said, you can surely expect the Biden administration to fumble our military preparedness as a whole. Senseless administrative discharges being held over the heads of unvaccinated service members that have declared their will to protect American citizens from threats foreign or domestic is a heinous act. All things will come to light with time, and these injustices will be brought forward. If they don’t do time behind bars, they’ll be spending all their time in hell. Stay inquisitive in the word of God, and the world around you.
