Twitter has restricted the account of Michael Flynn’s lawyer, Sidney Powell.
Trying to access Powell’s account (@SidneyPowell1) results in a warning which reads “Caution: This account is temporarily restricted” due to “unusual activity.” Users can then bypass the message and access Powell’s account.
It is unclear if this restriction began before or after she retweeted an article from The Federalist calling for conservatives to fight back against Black Lives Matter and its “radical agenda” which have resulted in “angry mobs pulling down statues, taunting police, attacking passersby, and taking over entire city blocks.”
Powell’s involvement Flynn’s case changed the fate of the retired general, who – under advisement from his prior legal counsel from Eric Holder’s law firm – pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about his interactions with the Russian ambassador during the presidential transition.
Powell fought to force the government to release exculpatory evidence which revealed that rogue agent Peter Strzok overrode the agency’s recommendation to close the Flynn case – instead launching a ‘perjury trap’ against the former Trump adviser.
As a result, the Justice Department dropped its case against Flynn. The judge in the case, Emmet Sullivan, would not accept the DOJ’s request and instead called on a 3rd party judge to outline why Flynn should still be prosecuted. Last week, the Second Court of Appeals for DC ordered Sullivan to drop the matter.

Reddit Bans Largest Pro-Trump Forum As Election Season Heats Up
Having been convinced by the latest batch of national polls that Trump can’t possibly win in November, dozens of major companies are joining a Facebook advertising “boycott” intended to punish the company for refusing to censor conservative views, opinions and even facts that contradict the official far-left narrative. And now, more social media organizations are turning their own virtue-signaling dials up to “11”, with Reddit shutting down one of the most popular pro-Trump subreddits.
Reddit’s “r/The_Donald” subreddit garnered plenty of media attention during the 2016 primary, and later during the campaign, as a popular online gathering place for Trump’s most fanatical supporters. According to a recently archived copy of the site, the subreddit had nearly 800k subscribers, making it one of the most popular conservative-focused subreddits on the site.
Reddit CEO Steve Huffman told reporters – according to Axios – that the company “tried everything” to avoid outright banning “The_Donald”, including approaching users in good faith, but they continued to break Reddit’s rules, including by upvoting more prohibited content and antagonizing other communities.
“It was becoming clear that the company’s values and the way discourse was playing out on the platform were one of the main things we wanted to fix in our content policy update,” Huffman said.
But in a transparent attempt to “play fair”, Reddit also banned the subreddit dedicated to the popular left-wing podcast “Chapo Trap House”, known as “r/ChapoTrapHouse”.
Both subreddits were among the most popular political platforms still on Reddit, which has seen its usage rates decline sharply over the past decade. Notably, both r/Chapo and r/The_Donald have hosted plenty of criticism of Democratic nominee Joe Biden, who is a frequent object of hatred from ‘democratic socialists’ who listen to Chapo.
But Reddit isn’t the only social media platform to take a swipe at conservatives on Monday: Popular video-game streaming service Twitch has temporarily banned Trump’s account for its airing of “hateful conduct”.
Twitch claimed the offending content was the now-infamous Trump campaign kickoff rally, where he accused Mexicans of being “rapists” and bringing drugs into the US. Twitch also flagged “racist” comments from his rally in Tulsa.
Differing slightly from a policy articulated by Facebook, the Amazon-owned Twitch explained that “like anyone else, politicians on Twitch must adhere to our Terms of Service and Community Guidelines. We do not make exceptions for political or newsworthy content, and will take action on content reported to us that violates our rules.”
Twitch’s crackdown has included banning one of the most popular channels on the platform “Dr. Disrespect”. The user has claimed he wasn’t informed why the account was taken down, and Twitch has refused to elaborate. Is this all a ruse to allow Amazon to weaponize Twitch in its ongoing cold war with the president? Or is this simply an example of two more companies kowtowing to the woke mob?
Of course, if it’s “hate speech” Reddit is trying to battle, shutting down r/the_Donald and the other subs will probably have the opposite effect, as more users are forced to migrate to uninhibited environs like 4chan’s /pol, long criticized as a hotbed for white nationalist and otherwise extremist thought.
Though, fortunately, the subreddit has been backed up on an independent site, www.thedonald.win.
Mark Zuckerberg’s company has teams of people working in offices around the world — Austin, Texas; Dublin, Ireland; Hyderabad, India; and its Menlo Park, California, headquarters — who process millions of reports a week.
Facebook doesn’t disclose how many times people post, how many live videos are streamed, or how many posts it’s deleted. The company has said it’s responded to about 20,000 law enforcement requests over a five-month period last year.
Activists say Facebook needs to more clearly spell out policies, particularly after what happened with Gaines.

“The lack of transparency is part of the problem,” said Rashad Robinson, the executive director of Color Of Change, an online organization focused on racial issues.
His organization and the consumer advocacy group SumOfUs sent a letter to Facebook demanding the social network stop censoring personal accounts at the request of the police.
“News isn’t just getting shared on Facebook, it’s being broken on Facebook,” said Reem Suleiman, a campaigner for the organization. “If Facebook is making decisions about how news reaches the public, then it needs to be transparent about how those decisions are made.”
Just how far is Facebook willing to go to keep its platform in check? Chances are you haven’t read the fine print in its terms of service. But even if you did, you’d find Facebook’s censorship policies are vague and confusing.
So I’ve put together this FAQ to help you understand how Zuckerberg and his team judge the comments you post — and decide what can stay and what they’ll pull from your feed.
What is Facebook’s general policy on censorship?
Facebook wants to be a place where people feel free to express themselves within reason. Hate speech and terrorism are no-nos, for example, as is most nudity and pornography. Contrary to popular belief, breastfeeding photos are allowed on the site.
In the last year, Facebook has touted “counter speech” as an alternative to censorship. The idea is that someone who responds to a hateful post by saying it’s wrong will have more impact than merely removing that post in the first place.
For example, Facebook’s content team will likely allow a photo of graphic violence with the caption “This is wrong.” But post the same photo with wording that celebrates violence or encourages others and it will likely be removed if Facebook gets complaints about it.
Does Facebook cooperate with law enforcement?
It does, though we don’t know to what extent. Many of its rules are outlined on its website.
For example, it automatically alerts law enforcement about suspicious activity involving minors, such as child porn. Facebook also contacts the authorities in cases where it believes there’s imminent danger or a credible threat of violence.
The company also said it turned over at least some data in more than 81 percent of the 19,235 law enforcement-related requests it received between July and December 2015.
Can Facebook limit free speech?
Freedom of speech isn’t what you think it is. The beginning phrase of the First Amendment to the US Constitution says ” Congress shall make no law…” That means, within reason, the government doesn’t mess with what you say. But Facebook isn’t the government. It can set rules pretty much however it wants.
To that end, Facebook does have ” community standards,” including rules against nudity, terrorism and hate speech.
Are there different types of videos on Facebook?
Yes. You can upload videos to Facebook’s main service or its Instagram photo-sharing service.
The company also offers the new Facebook Live, a video-streaming feature made available in April to everyone who uses the social network. Like Facebook itself, the live feed is free.
The feature is built into the Facebook app for iPhones and devices powered by Google’s Android software. It’s super easy to use: All you do is open the app, click on the status update, and choose live video. Now you’re broadcasting to the world.
Can Facebook censor live videos?
It’s possible in cases where something in the video violates Facebook’s community standards. Facebook is considering plans to check on particularly popular live videos, but otherwise, the company’s employees aren’t watching. Facebook relies on its community to alert it when people break the rules.
Why isn’t Facebook able to stop bad posts?
With more than 1.7 billion people using the social network every month, Facebook can’t monitor everything that passes through its site. The company does have teams of people around the globe devoted to policing Facebook, but those teams largely rely on its community of users to call out questionable behavior.
I saw an offensive cartoon about a man killing a cop. How is this OK?
This is one of those cases where things get confusing.
If you’re talking about this sickening and graphic cartoon, it’s an interesting case with no clear answers. At first, Facebook defined it as art, even though many users complained that it was offensive and awful. Eventually, the post was removed. The page of the group to which it was posted — the Black Panther Party of Mississippi — continues to operate despite seemingly being linked to an extremist organization. Facebook declined to discuss specifics of its decision in this instance.
I heard ISIS posts on Facebook. Does the company allow terrorists to post?
Facebook doesn’t allow terrorist speech, but it’s up to anyone using the site to report it when we see it.
What if a post is newsworthy?
This is where things get interesting. You’ll remember Facebook encourages counter-speech, but what about analysis?
Well, the company seems to be establishing as good a track record as Apple initially did with its App Store — which is to say, not that good. The controversies over Facebook’s trending topics list indicate that its employees and news-choosing algorithms aren’t really that adept at deciding what’s newsworthy.
Now it appears Facebook has censored one of the most recognizable news photos on the planet: the image of a naked, crying young girl named Phan Thị Kim Phú as she fled a napalm strike during the Vietnam War. That photo won a Pulitzer Prize.
Why did the Philando Castile video get taken down?
Facebook blamed a technical glitch for temporarily removing the video by Castile’s fiancee. The video was restored shortly after.
Why did Facebook attach a graphic warning to the Castile video after putting it back?
Facebook began adding warnings to videos and photos it deems require them. Consider that people as young as 13 years old can join Facebook.
Why doesn’t Facebook remove racist posts my [insert family member here] wrote?
Facebook weighs the value of removing content on a case-by-case basis. Sometimes, it relies on counter-speech to do the job. It also takes into account artistic merit, commentary, and other factors.
The challenge, the company often says, is that it’s trying to be a gathering place for nearly everyone online. So forcing a specific ideology or set of political principles on everyone will tick them off.
And being a global gathering place also means Facebook needs to create a set of policies that apply across all its users. That’s more than half the world’s online population.
What about different political beliefs?
Facebook tracks that too. The New York Times discovered a way for you to see how the social network labels your political leaning. Go to Facebook’s ad preferences page (you’ll need to be logged in) and look under the “Interests” header for a box titled “US Politics.” In parentheses, Facebook will say whether you’re liberal, moderate, or conservative.

You did. And so did I. Everyone who logs on to Facebook gives it this power. Make no mistake about it: There are more people using Facebook than there are citizens of any country on Earth.
Zuckerberg was never elected to any office. But he’s built one of the most important websites in the world, and he makes decisions that affect all of us. There’s no way for any of us to appeal.

Amazon’s Twitch Platform Temporarily Bans Trump for ‘Hateful Conduct’
Amazon-owned streaming service Twitch has temporarily banned the official account of President Donald Trump over “hateful conduct,” cutting the campaign off from a major platform that it uses to stream rallies and other events.
According to CNBC, Twitch cited two remarks from Trump in its decision; a recently rebroadcast 2016 campaign rally in which then-candidate Trump accused Mexico of sending criminals and other bad actors to the U.S., and remarks from the President’s last rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he used the word “tough hombre” in a fictional story about a house break-in.
According to the Amazon-owned streaming platform, the president’s channel has been temporarily suspended.
“Hateful conduct is not allowed on Twitch. In line with our policies, President Trump’s channel has been issued a temporary suspension from Twitch for comments made on stream, and the offending content has been removed,” said a Twitch spokesperson in a comment to CNBC.
Twitch is owned by Amazon, whose founder and CEO Jeff Bezo owns the Washington Post, a stridently anti-Trump publication. Even as a candidate, Trump regularly singled Bezos out among Silicon Valley CEOs for criticism, calling him “Jeff Bozo.”
This came on a day of widespread cross-platform censorship. The owners of social networking site Reddit chose the same day to ban r/The_Donald, their preeminent community of Trump supporters, which had accumulated 790,000 subscribers at the time of its ban. Since the 2015 primaries, r/The_Donald has been one of the most influential hubs of Trump’s support on the web, hosting Trump himself for an online Q&A in 2016.
Big Tech companies have grown bolder in censoring the President in recent months, apparently undaunted by the President’s executive order on social media censorship. Twitter has begun censoring the President’s tweets, while Facebook recently removed an ad from the Trump campaign that denounced Antifa violence.
