Singapore’s Ministry of Health reported a major increase in breakthrough infections of COVID-19 for four straight days despite being ranked Number 5 in the world in vaccination rate.
Over 80 percent of the country is vaccinated for COVID-19.
As of 7 October 2021, 83% of the population has received two doses of COVID-19 vaccines, and 85% has received at least one dose, according to the latest report.
As of the 8th of October 2021, at 12pm, Singapore’s Ministry of Health has recorded a total of 3,590 new cases of COVID-19 infection, an increase from the 3,483 cases on Thursday.
This is the highest recorded number of cases since the beginning of the pandemic, while the country also recorded six new deaths.
