Spoiler Alert: HNewsWire Is Leary of the Pre-Trib Rapture Theory. Let’s Just Say, “It’s All in God’s Hands.”

IS THE RAPTURE THEORY IS FALSE?

John 17:15 …’ I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.’

There is a teaching today that is rife within the Christian world, called the rapture. What is the rapture theory? It is believed by those who hold to this theory (and there are MANY who do), that the “church” will be raptured away to heaven and then the earth will continue for a period of seven years (called the tribulation) in which the inhabitants of the earth will be plunged into a time of great trouble and strife (more so than now). So according to this teaching, there is a separation to take place between the saved and the lost BEFORE the end of the world.

In this teaching, we are also told that Christ will return in two “phases”. The first will be a “quiet” affair with the saints being raptured away. And then the second phase after the seven-year tribulation will be the “glorious, triumphant” return, which according to this teaching, will usher in the 1000 year millennial reign on earth (which is also false teaching).

Let me quickly show you an example of the weakness of the rapture doctrine – I came across a recent article stating ’10 Irrefutable Proofs’ for the rapture. Here are the first two ‘irrefutable proofs’ they quoted:

Number 1. “THE RAPTURE IS THE ‘BLESSED HOPE’ WHILE THE SECOND COMING IS A DAY TO BE GREATLY FEARED” … They separate the rapture and second coming saying that the rapture is the ‘blessed hope’ quoting Titus 2:13, and the second coming is the ‘FEARED day of the Lord’, quoting Amos 5:18. They believe there must be different events, because one is to be hoped for, and the other is to be feared. But they fail to realize the simple truth that the second coming is the ‘blessed hope’ for the saved in Jesus and to be ‘greatly feared’ by those who reject the Lord. Simple, logical truth.

Number 2. “IN THE RAPTURE, JESUS COMES FOR HIS CHURCH, AT HIS SECOND COMING HE BRINGS THE CHURCH WITH HIM” … They say that Jesus takes His church away in the rapture, quoting 1 Thess. 4:16-17. And then Jesus comes back with the church at the second coming, quoting Revelation 19:14, which says ‘the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses.”But what they fail to realize is that the ‘armies’ whom Jesus returns with are His angels, as Matthew 25:31 confirms, not the church.

But what about 1 Thessalonians 4:14, where it says that those who sleep in Jesus will God bring with Him? This surely is talking about the church coming back from heaven after the rapture with Jesus at His physical return?” – No, it’s not. Rapture adherents love this verse, but they completely miss the context of what is being said here. Look at both vs. 13 and 14. Paul is clearly talking about those who are asleep in Christ, ie, those who are in their graves waiting for His return. And what does Paul say to give encouragement concerning those who have died? He says that just as God raised Jesus from the dead, so He will bring with Jesus those who sleep in Him. In other words, those who have died, God will raise them from the dead, just like He rose Jesus from the dead.

The rest of the so-called ‘irrefutable proofs’ are of the same mold. They are not proofs at all, but just twisting of scripture to suit their wrong belief. It’s interesting that they also believe the ‘antichrist’ will not be revealed until AFTER the rapture. This is a deception of the Roman Church. The Bible and historic Protestantism already revealed the antichrist – The Papal Church of Rome!

NOTE: If the rapture theory is true Biblical teaching. Why was it not well known and popularized until the early 20th century?

BIBLICAL EVIDENCE THAT THE RAPTURE THEORY HAS SERIOUS PROBLEMS

John 17:15 …’ I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.’

Let me get one thing out of the way first. The word “rapture” is not found anywhere in the Bible. So where do they get the word from? It was coined from the words “caught up” found in 1 Thessalonians 4:17. And we will deal with those verses later on.

What I would like to do is drop a Biblical bomb straight away on the pre-tribulation rapture teaching and expose its weakness. That Bible bomb is found in Matthew, chapter 13. In this chapter, Christ Jesus is telling a parable and teaching a lesson concerning the events of the last days and the second coming. Let’s look at what He says:

Matthew 13:24-30 …’ Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. But when the blade was sprung up and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares? He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? But he said, Nay; [NO] lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together FIRST the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.’

Wow! I love the Word of God. It is so clear that we need not second guess what is going to happen. So what are we told in the pre-tribulation rapture theory? We are told that Christ will “gather” His people BEFORE the tribulation and separate the “wheat and the tares” BEFORE the harvest. And yet what does it clearly state in the Bible verse above? That the separation only takes place AT the harvest.

“Oh but the rapture IS the harvest!”

Ok. So according to those who hold to the pre-trib rapture theory, the harvest takes place BEFORE the tribulation and BEFORE the end of the world. This is clearly what they believe because according to this teaching, the world continues for another 7 years and then another 1000 years AFTER the rapture. Well, what does Christ Jesus our Teacher say about this?

Matthew 13:38-40 …’The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom, but the tares are the children of the wicked one; The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world, and the reapers are the angels. As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world.’

Thank you, Jesus, for giving us the clear truth on this matter, so that we should not be deceived! Do you see the truth on this friend? The church and the wicked continue to live together on earth until the END OF THE WORLD. And it is only at the end of the world that the separation takes place. The pre-trib rapture theory is now blown to bits by the Word of God!

Please understand that VITAL point. The rapture theory teaches a separation BEFORE the end. But the Bible clearly teaches that there is NO separation before the end.

This also proves the mid-tribulation rapture teaching to be false

Those who hold to the mid-tribulation rapture theory, believe (just like the pre-trib teachers), that the separation takes place BEFORE the end of the world. But as we have shown from the Bible above, the separation takes place ONLY at the end of the world. Need more proof? Take a look at these Bible verses and you will notice that the focus is NOT about the church being taken away before the end, but rather AT the end of the world and the LAST DAY.

John 6:40 …’ And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.’

John 11:24 …’ Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day.’

John 12:48 …’ He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.’

Eternal life is given on the LAST DAY. The resurrection happens on the LAST DAY. Judgment is given on the LAST DAY.

Notice also what Jesus says in Matthew 28:20 …” lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.” … Now, why would Jesus reassure us that He would be with us until the END OF THE WORLD if we were to be raptured away BEFORE the end of the world? Doesn’t make sense, does it? Friend, the rapture teaching is a false one invented by Satan to cause God’s people to be unprepared for the time of trouble ahead, that we WILL go through.

PAROUSIA AND APOKALUPSIS

Those who believe in a rapture say that the Greek word “parousia” refers to the secret coming of Jesus with the rapturing of the church and that the Greek word “apokalupsis” refers to the visible glorious coming of Jesus in power seven years later. So they believe from these Greek words that Christ will return in two phases, separated by the 7-year tribulation. Well, we have already proven from the Bible that there is no separation between the church and the wicked until the END OF THE WORLD. But let’s take a look at “parousia” and “apokalupsis”, and what we will show you is that BOTH are used to describe the SAME second coming, not two comings.

Paul uses the word “parousia” in 1 Thessalonians 4, which we have discussed above when speaking of the coming of Christ and our gathering together unto Him. But Paul then shows that this “parousia” will destroy the man of sin; the Antichrist … “whom the Lord shall destroy with the brightness of his coming [parousia].” 2 Thessalonians 2:8. So we have a problem. Paul is saying that it is DURING the “parousia” of Christ that the man of sin will be destroyed. And yet those who hold to the rapture teaching say that the man of sin will reign AFTER the “parousia”. And will not be destroyed until the physical “apokalupsis” coming of Christ.

“Apokalupsis” [revelation] is also used in a way that indicates it is NOT a separate coming from the time the believers are gathered up. Peter said in 1 Peter 1:13 …“be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation [apokalupsis] of Jesus Christ;” Now why would Christians be exhorted to continue hoping to the end of the world for the grace brought through the revelation of Jesus Christ if their real hope was a rapture seven years before the revelation? Do you see the problems with this teaching? I hope so.

These following verses which give Matthew and Luke’s account of the same event prove that the words “parousia” and “apokalupsis” do refer to the SAME ONE COMING OF CHRIST. In Matthew 24:37 it says …”But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming [parousia] of the Son of man be.” … And the same account in Luke 17:26, 30 says … “As it was in the days of Noah … Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed [apokalupsis].” This is how we are to find out the TRUTH. We need to compare scripture with scripture.

So why are the two Greek words used? It’s quite simple. Parousia means “presence”, a VISIBLE return. And Apokalupsis means “to reveal”, a REVEALING OF THE TRUTH. So to turn these two words into two separate comings make no sense whatsoever. They both describe the ONE event, the physical, visible, loud, fiery second coming of Christ, in which the truth will be REVEALED!!

WHO IS JESUS COMING ‘AS A THIEF’ FOR?

There are many Christians who hold onto those few words … “coming as a thief” … separating them from the context and believing that Jesus is coming as a thief for the church. But let us look at what the apostle Paul says regarding Jesus coming ‘as a thief’.

1 Thessalonians 5:1-5 …’ But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.’

These things become so clear when we read the context, rather than separating small pieces of scripture and building faulty teaching on them. Can you see what Paul is saying above? WHO is Jesus going to return ‘as a thief’ for? THE WORLD! For whom does Jesus ‘come suddenly’, without them being aware? THE LOST. Which ties in perfectly with the parable of the wheat and tares, wherein the LOST are gathered FIRST. Paul confirms above in 1 Thessalonians 5 that the saints are NOT overtaken ‘as a thief’, because we will be watching and waiting for the Lord, expecting His return.

Matthew 24:42-43 …’ Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.’

Can we know what “watch” the Lord is coming in? YES! This is why we are given signs of the times in the Bible, so we can know in which watch the Lord will return. We do not know the hour, but we CAN know what ‘watch’, which is why the ‘goodman of the house’ (the saints) ARE WATCHING AND WAITING!

John 10:10 …’The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I come that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly.’

What does a thief come to do? To steal and destroy! Is Jesus coming to steal and destroy His church? No! He is coming back to steal and destroy the wicked. This is who Jesus is coming back as a thief for – the lost! But the church will be watching, and will NOT “suffer their house to be broken up.” Oh, how the truth becomes so clear when we read things in context!

Jesus is NOT coming back as a thief for the church. He is coming as a thief for the world!

WHAT HAPPENS AT THE END OF THE WORLD?

For Jesus to say “end of the world”, there must be some destructive event to take place right? So what event is coming that would be an “end of the world” event? THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST JESUS! Take a look at the following Bible verses describing the second coming and you will see that THIS is the event that will “end this world” as we know it.

Revelation 1:7 …’ Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.’

2 Peter 3:10 …’ But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which, the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.’

2 Thessalonians 1:7-8 …’ And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.’

Psalm 50:3-4 … ‘Our God shall come, and shall not keep silence: a fire shall devour before him, and it shall be very tempestuous round about him. He shall call to the heavens from above, and to the earth, that he may judge his people.’

Isaiah 34:8-10 …’ For it is the day of the LORD’s vengeance, and the year of recompenses for the controversy of Zion. And the streams thereof shall be turned into pitch, and the dust thereof into brimstone and the land thereof shall become burning pitch. It shall not be quenched night nor day; the smoke thereof shall go up forever: from generation to generation it shall lie waste; none shall pass through it forever and ever.’

It sounds like an end of the world event, doesn’t it? The destroying force of the second coming of Christ Jesus, as shown in the Bible verses above, will cause the earth to be “laid waste” as described in Isaiah above. This means that the world will NOT continue on as we know it now, which the rapture theory proclaims. Instead, the wicked will be destroyed and the earth will be laid waste. And it is AT THIS TIME that the saints are taken to heaven, not before.

BUT WHAT ABOUT ONE TAKEN AND ONE LEFT BEHIND?

Matthew 24:37-42 …’ But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.’

This is such a misunderstood passage of scripture today. Take a look at the context of the above Bible verses. Do you see that Jesus is telling us that His second coming will be like what happened in Noah’s day? And what happened in the days of Noah? The above verse tells us. The flood DESTROYED the earth, taking away the wicked and leaving behind God’s people (Noah’s family). Who was “taken away” and who was “left behind” in Noah’s day? Take a look at the above verses again. It was the wicked who were TAKEN and Noah was LEFT BEHIND! And this is what Christ is pointing us to. He is saying that the day is coming when the earth will be destroyed again and the wicked will be TAKEN and the saints will be LEFT BEHIND.

Please take note of the following VITAL point.

Luke 17:35-37 …’Two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. And they answered and said unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Wheresoever the body is, thither will the eagles be gathered together.’

Why did the disciples ask ‘WHERE, LORD’? Were they wondering where the one left behind was? No, that person would be in the same place as they were. So the disciples are clearly asking where has the one taken gone. And what did Jesus say? “Wheresoever the body is, thither will the eagles be gathered together.” The body? In the original language, the word Eagle can also mean Vulture. And where do Vultures gather? Where there is a dead body! And look at what Job says about the Eagle:

Job 39:27-30 …’ Doth the eagle mount up at thy command, and make her nest on high? She dwelleth and abideth on the rock, upon the crag of the rock, and the strong place. From thence she seeketh the prey, and her eyes behold afar off. Her young ones also suck up blood: and where the slain are, there is she.’

And in Matthew 24, Jesus even makes it clearer by saying it is a CARCASS! So the one taken is the wicked who will be killed.

And what did we already confirm would happen during the harvest at the end? Let’s read it again … ‘and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together FIRST the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.’ (Matthew 13) … The wicked are “taken” first and the saints are left behind to then be “gathered into My barn” (taken to heaven).

The whole context of Matthew 24 is a warning for us to “watch and be ready” so that the “sudden destruction” that is to come upon the world (1 Thess. 5:3) will not TAKE US by surprise. Just like what happened in Noah’s day. Who was taken? The wicked. Who was left behind? Noah and his family!

CAUGHT UP TO MEET THE LORD IN THE AIR

In light of what we have learned above. What does it mean when the Bible says we will be “caught up” to meet the Lord in the air? Exactly as it says! You see, those who hold to the rapture theory try to get something out of this verse that just isn’t there! The truth is, when Christ Jesus returns at the second coming, the wicked will be destroyed, the dead saints will be resurrected and the saints who are still alive will be “caught up” to meet Jesus in the air. And then we will be taken to heaven to start the 1000 year millennium.

And why do we “meet the Lord in the air”? Because Jesus is NOT going to set foot upon the earth during the second coming. And the second phase of His return with the saints will be at the END of the 1000 year millennium. This is another misunderstanding that the rapture theory causes. Jesus is not going to rule on earth during the 1000 years. Instead, we are going to be in heaven with Him during this time, and the earth will be “laid waste” from His second coming. And only AFTER the 1000 years will we return to earth with Christ.

Bible Proof The Rapture Theory Is False

Many people state that The Pre-trib Rapture is a valid teaching, but few have the courage to honestly examine any evidence to the contrary presented to them. Are you one of the brave ones?

The pre-trib rapture is false teaching.

By Paul Benson

The simple believeth every word: but the prudent man looketh well to his going. Proverbs 14:15

Solid Proof The Pre-Trib Rapture Theory is False

I am not someone who likes to beat around the bush all day. Why waste time? If there is a bird in that bush, reach in there and nab that rascal! As a researcher and a writer, I prefer means and methods which get right at the heart of a matter. And I have a couple of questions I like to present to those who promote the pre-trib rapture theory which does exactly that. I find these two questions thought-provoking and enlightening, but amazingly I have had great trouble finding a rapture theorist who will address these two questions in an honest and strait-forward manner.

I am either given as answers ‘straw-man’ arguments, which have nothing to do with my questions or a sad rerun of ‘Discredit the message by discrediting the messenger’ (if I can find fault with you I can justify ignoring what you have to say). I can show where all my beliefs about the Return of Christ are plainly and clearly stated in the Bible. The rapture theorist (since it is an ‘implicit’ doctrine) cannot do so, and this lack of biblical support often becomes a great frustration to them. Let me pose these two questions to you, and ask you for an answer that is not an end-run around the question:

Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. 1Thessalonians 5:21

I see questions of this nature as being of vital importance to a proper understanding of eschatology. They cause a person to engage in the type of critical reasoning that cuts through the fog of Scripture twisting, unsupported statements, and outright lies that false teachings are cloaked in. Here are two questions:

QUESTION #1

Rapture theorists teach that the Coming of Christ for the Church, and our gathering together unto him, is ‘imminent’ (likely to happen at any second). This concept is a pillar of the pre-trib rapture theory, and without it, the theory collapses. They claim the Apostle Paul believed this doctrine of ‘the Imminent Return’ because it was revealed to him by God, that he taught this concept to his followers, and wrote his letters (that we know as Scripture) with this notion presented in them. My first question is this:

Exactly when did the Coming of Christ and the Resurrection / Catching-away BECOME imminent? There had to be a time when it was not imminent (before the Cross for example) and then there had to have come a moment when it was now imminent. Exactly when was that moment; when did the rapture BECOME imminent?

(If you would like you can post an answer in the comment area below, but please NO straw-man (irrelevant issue) arguments that distract from the subject at hand. I ask that you would directly answer the question.)

MY ANSWER:

Let me tell you why the pre-trib rapture theorist will not, and in fact cannot directly address that question. It is because the truthful answer is catastrophic to their doctrine. The truth is that the Return of Christ for the Church could not have been imminent in the days of the early Church, could not have been imminent down through the centuries, could not be imminent today, and will not be imminent until immediately before it actually happens. This is easily provable by examining the Scriptures themselves.

THE PROOF

There are actually quite a number of prophecies that prohibited the Resurrection / Catching-away from being imminent in the days of the early Church. Let’s first look at just one major roadblock to this concept: the prophesied death of Peter by being martyred as an old man. The Lord Jesus himself gave this prophecy (John 21:18). It is an irrefutable truism.

Historical writings give us a pretty good idea as to not only when Peter died, but also when Paul died. Smith’s Bible Dictionary says, “According to the early writers, he (Peter) died at or about the same time with Paul, and in the Neronian persecution, A.D. 67 or 68. All agree that he (Peter) was crucified.”

From this information so far we can know the following to be absolutely true:

  1.  Jesus said Peter would die as an old man, therefor the Resurrection / Catching-away could NOT happen until this prophecy was fulfilled.
  2. Paul died at about the same time as Peter. This means the Resurrection / Catching away was NOT imminent during the span of Paul’s ministry to the Body of Christ, and therefore God did NOT reveal to him any such thing! It was not a possibility until the death of Peter!
  3. Paul would NOT (under the unction of the Holy Spirit) have taught as a doctrine to his followers something that could not possibly happen, nor would he have included this concept in his writings to them. The Scriptures were penned by God himself using holy men as vessels. God does not lie, nor does his Word! It would have been a lie to teach and promote as imminent something NOT possible in his lifetime, and the Holy Spirit would not have guided Paul to state a falsehood in his writings to the Church!

There are many other prophetic statements standing in the way of an imminent Return that had to be fulfilled first, and many that still need fulfillment (they are scattered throughout the pages of the Bible). For the sake of time and space let’s look at the last one (as far as I can tell) to be fulfilled before the Resurrection of the Just and our gathering together unto our Lord could occur.

Many say Job is the oldest of the Biblical writings. Even he prophesied of the Resurrection of the Dead. And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God (Job 19:26). I have heard many a pre-trib rapture teacher quotes that verse from Job, but never this passage:

But man dieth, and wasteth away: yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where is he? 11 As the waters fail from the sea, and the flood decayeth and drieth up:12 So man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens are no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep. Job 14:10-12

This unspeakable event in which the heavens go away is spoken of in nearly twenty different places in the Bible yet rarely preached on. Job prophesied this event would PRECEDE our Resurrection! According to the prophecies of the Bible, the Resurrection / Catching-away could not become imminent until after the heavens vanish. A thorough look at all the passages detailing this event in the heavens show it to happen either just before, or in conjunction with, the Second Coming of Christ right after the tribulation.

CONCLUSION:

Thus we see the doctrine of the ‘Imminent Return’ is a provable lie.

  • To say God revealed to Paul the rapture was ‘imminent’ is a lie!
  • To say the Apostle Paul believed this doctrine is a lie.
  • To say Paul taught this doctrine to his followers is a lie.
  • To say Paul wrote his letters that we know as Scripture with this notion presented in them is a lie.
  • To say the Coming of Christ for the Church has been imminent for two thousand years is a lie.
  • To say the Coming of Christ for the Church is now imminent is a lie.

The Return of Jesus to catch us away will not be imminent until ALL prophecies that prevent it are fulfilled. The doctrine of the ‘Imminent Return’ is not from the Bible; The Bible refutes such a notion.

QUESTION #2.  Please pay particular attention to the wording of the following verses.

Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming (Greek – Parousia) of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, 2Thessalonians 2:1

When Paul wrote to the Church at Thessalonica he earnestly urged them to consider his words about the Return of Jesus and our gathering together unto him; as I also urge you here and now. This second question addresses an aspect of the Coming of Christ and our rising to meet him.

For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. 23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming (Greek – Parousia). 24 Then cometh the end… 1Corinthians 15:22-24

Some try and split up the Resurrection of the Just into a number of events taking place over a period of time. But here the Bible plainly nails it down to one event taking place at one time. We are given here the order of the Resurrection. Christ first, then all they which are his at his Coming / Parousia. First the Head – then the Body. The Resurrection of the Just and our gathering together unto Christ take place at his Coming / Parousia. Plainly stated!

And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming (Greek – Parousia): 2Thessalonians 2:8

This verse speaks of the destruction of the Antichrist at the end of his 42-month reign of terror. This brings us to my second question (please take a moment and earnestly consider this):

How could the Coming /Parousia (and our gathering unto Jesus) destroy Antichrist at the end of his 42-month reign if the Coming /Parousia (and our gathering unto Jesus) happens before the tribulation? How is this possible?

MY ANSWER:

This conflict with Scripture disappears if you place the Coming / Parousia (and our gathering unto Jesus) where the Bible rightly does: at the Second Coming of Christ immediately after the tribulation of those days (Matt. 24:29-31). There is NO prior event taught in the Word of God.

ADDITIONAL WITNESS

Here is some additional commentary. This is an excerpt from the book ‘The Pre-trib Rapture: A Bucket Full of Holes!’ by Paul Benson

Outright Lie: The Coming (parousia) of Christ and his Revelation (apokalupsis) are two separate events.

The rapture theory centers around a false notion that there are two separate returns of Jesus in the end-time events. To illustrate the difference in these two events we are explained the first is his invisible Coming (Greek-parousia) to ‘rapture’ the Church, and the second is his Revelation (Greek-apokalupsis) where he is revealed to the world and pours out judgment.

There are a number of words used to refer to the Coming / Return of Christ: coming (Greek-‘parousia’), revelation (Greek-apokalupsis), coming (Greek-erchomai), etc., and if you compare their usage in the Bible you will see times they are used interchangeably to refer to the same event. A glaring example is to look at Jesus comparing his Return to the days of Noah and Lot in Matthew 24, and then look at Luke’s account. Matthew has Jesus using the word coming (parousia), but in Luke Jesus speaks of it as the day he will be revealed (apokalupto). Both words are describing the same event! His coming (parousia) is the day he will be revealed (apokalupto).

So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming (apokalupsis) of our Lord Jesus Christ: 1 Corinthians 1:7

The Revelation (apokalupsis) of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servant’s things which must shortly come to pass. Revelation 1:1

In the first verse above we have the word ‘apokalupsis’ there translated as coming. The same Greek word is translated in the next example as Revelation! Are you waiting for an unbiblical rapture; or waiting for the Resurrection of the Just at the Coming / Revelation (apokalupsis) of Christ?

The Coming of Christ we are waiting for and the Revelation of Jesus Christ is one and the selfsame event! You will not find in the Bible ONE passage of Scripture that plainly describes two comings of Jesus in the end-times. This concept is not from the Bible.

And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear (phaneroo), we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming (parousia). 1 John 2:28

His Appearance and his Coming are the same events! To separate into two events what the Word of God plainly shows to be one Coming of Christ is error and deception. The pre-trib rapture theory is once again at odds with what is plainly taught in the Scriptures. There are NOT two separate returns of Christ taught in the Bible; this teaching is a gross error.

The pre-trib-rapture myth is a creation of man and is a lie against the truth. As all lies are, it is a defilement! If you have been believing and promoting that falsehood I lovingly encourage you to reject it now and seek the Lord’s forgiveness. If you will turn from that lie and repent for having received it (and taught it to others), God will forgive you and cleanse you from that defilement by the blood of his Son Jesus Christ. He awaits your response. I am praying for you. Source

Will Christians Go Through the Tribulation?

CBN One of the most critical areas today in prophecy has to do with the understanding of tribulation. The New Testament speaks of “tribulation,” also “great tribulation,” and the debate hinges on whether the church (true believers) will or will not go through it. Robert P. Lightner speaks of “at least four different views of the church’s relation to the tribulation: the church to be raptured before the tribulation begins, the church to go through the tribulation, the church to go through the first half of the tribulation, and the pre-wrath rapture of the church”*(only the first three have any major followings). How is it possible to decide among such varying viewpoints? Surely the issue is an important one, and interpretations vary a great deal on this. Let me make some suggestions to help.

First, some comments about the rapture of the church. The place in Scripture that most clearly teaches a rapture is 1 Thessalonians 4:14-17. The final words are: “The Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the archangel’s call, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first; then we who are alive, who are left, shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air; and so we shall always be with the Lord.” “Caught up” in one early Latin translation is rapiemur, from which we derive the English word “rapture.” So the rapture refers in this context to that moment when believers will be caught up, along with the dead in Christ, to a glorious meeting with the Lord in His triumphal descent. Paul also in 1 Corinthians 15:51-52 speaks of the same event, saying: “We shall not all sleep [i.e., die], but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet.” However, the teaching here relates not so much to meet the Lord as to the fact that our bodies (dead and alive) will be changed in this great future event.

Second, nothing is said in either passage directly about the relation of the rapture to tribulation. However, the implication in 1 Thessalonians 4 is that no tribulation follows the rapture. For rather than saying something like, “So shall we be delivered from tribulation,” the text thereafter reads, “so shall we always be with the Lord.” Thus it is hard to sustain from this passage a pretribulation rapture of the church (similarly from 1 Cor. 15), or, for that matter, a post-tribulation rapture when no tribulation is mentioned before (note both passages carefully). “Pretrib” would seem on the basis of 1 Thessalonians especially to be ruled out; “post-trib” would have to be found elsewhere.

Third, we need also to examine the word “tribulation.” In the Greek, it is thlipsis, translated as “tribulation” or “affliction” (sometimes “distress”). Returning to 1 Thessalonians, we observe that Paul writes in chapter 3 that “we sent Timothy…to establish you, and to comfort you concerning your faith: That no man should be moved by these afflictions [a Greek word is a form of thlipsis, hence “tribulations”]: for you, yourselves know we are appointed thereunto. For verily, when we were with you, we told you before that we should suffer tribulation; even as it came to pass, and ye know” (vv. 2-4 KJV). Since this chapter (3) precedes the next (4) on the rapture and also declares that we are “appointed” to tribulation, even to “suffer” the same, it would seem apparent that tribulation precedes the rapture to come.

Let us also note some words of Jesus. In Matthew 24, Jesus tells His disciples, “They will deliver you up to tribulation [thlipsin], and put you to death” (v. 9); and this is said prior to the statement that “many will fall away…most men’s love will grow cold…this gospel of the kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world” (vv. 10-14). Clearly tribulation here precedes the return of Christ and the rapture of the church. Another memorable statement of Jesus is found in John 16:33″In the world you have tribulation, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” Tribulation has been and will be a lot of all who truly follow Christ.

Some interpreters, however, argue that although all Christians go through some tribulation, there is yet a “great tribulation” to come that true believers will not have to endure. Let us examine the expression “great tribulation” which occurs first in Matthew 24:21″Then there will be great tribulation [thlipsis megale], such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, and never will be.” Here tribulation seems to refer to what will happen to the world at large (note the following verse”if those days had not been shortened, no human being would be saved; but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened”). In any case, this “great tribulation” is also prior to the return of Christ and the rapture. For, further on, in Matthew 24, Jesus says, “Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light…and they will see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven…and he will send out his angels with a loud trumpet call [recall 1 Thessalonians and 1 Corinthians about the trumpet], and they will gather the elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other” (vv. 29-31). These last words clearly relate to the rapture (here depicted as the gathering of “the elect”), and unmistakably refer to an occurrence after “great tribulation.” Surely there is no pretribulation rapture here.

The other place where the expression “great tribulation” is utilized is in Revelation, chapter 7. John, beholding “a great multitude” (v. 9) of white-robed people praising God around His throne and before the Lamb, is told: “These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb” (v. 14). But “out of” surely does not mean to be removed from; rather these believers have endured “the great tribulation” and have now come out of it, praising God and the Lamb. Here again “great tribulation” seems to refer to what happens upon the whole earth (see the opening words of Rev. 7) and the protection of believers, rather than their escape, during this time. Chapter 7 earlier describes the sealing of 144,000 “servants of our God” (vv. 3-4) before “the great tribulation” begins. These believers rather than escaping out of tribulation by way of rapture were sealed by God for their protection while going through it. Moreover, all of this happens prior to the return of Christ, which is not actually described until chapter 19.

I should add that many pretribulationists view the church as already having been raptured before any of the events, including tribulation in Revelation 6-19, occur. Some take the words addressed to John in Revelation 4:1″Come up hither” as referring to the rapture either actually or symbolically, and then add that since the word “church” does not appear until Revelation 22:16, the church, true believers, has been raptured or translated prior to the terrible events described in Revelation 6-19.** This, however, is a critical misinterpretation: the words to John in Revelation 4″Come up hither” have nothing to do either actually or symbolically with the rapture of the church; and, although the word “church” does not appear in these intervening chapters, believers are definitely on the earth. Many times, for example, the word “saints” occurs, along with such words as “Here is a call for the endurance of the saints” (14:12; cf. 13:10).

Based on the biblical testimony, there will not be a pretribulational rapture of the church (nor a midtribulational for that matter). This is very important to emphasize. For whether the tribulation is what all Christians are called upon to endure to the very end, or a great tribulation occurring worldwide, the Lord will see His people through whatever happens. There will be much persecution, to be sure, even martyrdom ahead (Jesus promised that), and many coming judgments on the world (from which true believers will be protected). Whichever way, there will be tribulation until the day Christ returns in glory.

I am afraid too many today are being lulled into thinking that when things get really bad, we as believers will be suddenly snatched out of it all (“the great snatch,” the rapture is sometimes called). This is indeed poor preparation for what is yet to happen and a serious misreading of the prophetic message. We will go through whatever tribulation may yet come, and in the midst of it and on the other side, give God all the glory!

This, I believe, is a prophecy by the Book.

Let Me Make This Abundantly Clear. (I Am Apolitical) While I Have a General Distaste for Politicians No Matter the Party They Belong To, I Am Unashamedly Politically a Bible Believing Conservative Christian. I Have a Severe Distrust of Government. I Believe It Is the Most Inefficient and Ineffective Way to Accomplish Most Things. While I Strongly Disagree with Liberals/Progressives and Conservative on Most Political Issues, and While I Believe Liberals/Progressives and Most Politicians Are Terribly Misguided and Naive About What Big Government Will Eventually Result In, I Strive to Not Question Their Motives. at the Same Time, While I Find Myself in Agreement with Conservative Politicians on Some Issues, I Do Not Believe Electing Republicans Is the Answer to Everything. for Me, Very Sadly, the Main Difference Between Republicans and Democrats Is How Quickly They Want to Drive the Car Towards the Cliff. Simply Put, I Do Not Believe the Government Is the Solution for Everything. I Do Not Place Any Faith, Trust, or Hope in Any Politicians to Fix What Is Wrong with the World. “Come Lord Jesus!” (Revelation 22:20)

Our government has been overthrown. As evidenced by Trump’s capitulation on the border, his recent servitude to the GMO industry and his acquiescence to the warmongers, our President has been compromised. Our liberties are being eliminated one by one. Gun confiscation is next. The Constitution is gasping its last breaths. Our borders are destroyed and our culture has been turned upside down by every perversion known to man.

Education is useless without the bible (Daniel Webster)

Usually, the Lord doth no great thing for or against his people, without giving warning of it before it comes.

John Wesley who said that what we tolerate in our generation, will be embraced by the next. Wesley is 100% correct! We are living in sick times.

The Left, a broad term for Liberal Socialist Democrats that can only be explained fully by using the Bible explanation of the human race is as follows. A servant of Satan, because you are either saved or lost. This election has brought out the true nature of who you serve. Simply put, it’s Donald Trump, Conservatives, and Christians against the rest of the world. The Left’s Love applies only to those who believe as they do. They Love evil and commit Anarchy against those who love good. They are governed by lies and never tell the truth. On this Friday, Inaugural Day for the swearing-in of Donald Trump as the 45th President of the United States the Left wants to commit widespread Anarchy to shut down the swearing-in ceremony. Their goal of transforming America, which was founded in Judea Christian values into a Pagan Nation is almost complete. Their goal has always been the total removal of God from American society and the downfall of America. Donald Trump says he is a Presbyterian, but he left off the USA, an apostate church.

Satan has power over (LGBTQE-TRANS PEOPLE). The “sons of disobedience” referred to in Ephesians 2:2 are those who have not trusted Christ as Lord and Savior (cf. Acts 26:18; 2 Corinthians 4:4; Revelation 13:12). The demons are also under the rule of Satan (Matthew 12:24), and one of his titles is “prince of demons” (Matthew 9:34). Satan has a kingdom (Matthew 12:26) and a throne (Revelation 2:13). Satan is called a prince because he is a ruler and possesses the power to manifest evil in the world through influencing people and commanding demons.

HNewsWire- “All political language is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable.” Just look at some of our modern-day examples: torture is “enhanced interrogation techniques”; murder is “collateral damage”; the aggression initiation of war is a “pre-emptive strike”; the theft of taxpayers’ money is a “bailout”, and the theft of depositors’ money in a bank is a “haircut” or “bail-in”.In a blatant example of Newspeak, the New World Order controllers (through the psychiatric DSM V) have tried to rename pedophiles as “minor-attracted persons” and redefine pedophilia as “sexual orientation”. This makes no sense since sexual orientation has to do with gender, not age, with whether you are attracted to males or females, not how old they are. There are even organizations (like B4UAct.org) which are claiming that pedophiles are being unfairly stigmatized for their feelings!

If homosexuality has been posed as healthy, good and normal, in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary, so can pedophilia. Pro-pedophilic articles are making their way into academia.

Unfortunately, not all alternative sources are reliable, even some Major Christian (and I use Christian loosely) news sources have been corrupted. They will NOT tell the truth. They just parrot the deceptive narratives perpetrated by those who currently control our government and media. Even those who are honestly trying to present the truth can miss it sometimes. There is so much deception out there. In these last days, you must be wise as serpents and gentle as lambs. It is no time to sleep or slumber. Diligence and vigilance are required. It is critical that you think for yourself and not be a Lemming.

    Someone’s a 7th day adventist.
Let the bible say what it means and means what it says. You cited scripture in support of a pretrib rapture, and followed up with so much mental gymnastics such as to convolute and confuse.

You’re quoting from 1611 king james bible is also to further attempt at that confusion.
You do realize this isn’t a hard filter to get past for one to notice that you’re lying.

  4. Rujo on January 27, 2021 at 10:31 am

As God’s children, we are given wisdom by the Holy Spirit, but the hearts of mankind are wicked, and tend towards unjust reasoning and believing what pleases them. We all fall short of God’s infinite grace, and have all been guilty of this, at some point. So, it’s important to not judge, lest we be judged.

The rapture is a seemingly innocent doctrine because many teach it and, furthermore, it doesn’t diminish God’s love; rather, it amplifies it. It’s a clever piece of chicanery. Rather than the typical satanic lies which tend toward “God does not/could not possibly love you,” or “God does not exist,” this lie focuses on something that resonates with Christians: “God loves you SO MUCH that He’s going to take you away from this place before all the bad things start happening! The tribulation? That’s just for all those wicked people; not you.”

By telling Christians that they will not need to endure because God loves them, they are being set up for the penultimate of what we call “despair.” Terrible things will be happening, and their despair will lead them to faulty conclusions, such as, but not limited to:

1.) (God is real, but…) “My faith was not great enough, and He has left me behind to suffer.” (This leads to deep sadness and resentment)
2.) (God is not real) “If He was, He would have delivered on what He promised.” (This leads to a falling away, and a willingness to follow the beast system that promises safety from the suffering)

There is no question that the LORD loves us in a capacity so great that we are not capable of understanding. He gave us His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, with the express purpose of ensuring that we would be able to escape the damnation that we all certainly deserve. That being said, His word is clear that we will remain until the coming (singular) of the Son of Man at the end of days; those days being the same days that He will shorten for the sake of the faithful.

    MATTHEW 24:9-14

Endure to the end, ladies and gents. There is no amount of suffering on our flesh or our minds that will keep us from standing in the perfect presence of our LORD and SACIOR, JESUS CHRIST, who lives and reigns with the FATHER and the HOLY SPIRIT; One God, now and forever. Amen.

The word “rapture” is in fact in the Bible, the Latin Bible.

deinde nos qui vivimus qui relinquimur simul rapiemur cum illis in nubibus obviam Domino in aera et sic semper cum Domino erimus 1Thess 4v17

“rapiemur” is the Latin word for rapture. English is “caught up”, the Greek “harpazo” i.e. to snatch, to seize violently.

  6. Peggy Mattie on September 20, 2020 at 5:04 pm

100 % there is no rapture. We are not getting ” Beamed” up until he returns. We will go through the tribulation and be refined and made pure.

Why does the church need to be refined and made pure? The blood of Christ has cleansed us from all sin. The church is not a domination, there are believers who scattered all round the world, so how do you refine the scattered believers in Christ? The Bride has already been redeemed, past tense. Does a bride need to be smashed before the wedding ceremony? The church has been persecuted since it began and now it is time to go home.

      • Eli on September 21, 2022 at 12:51 am

2 Timothy 4: 6-7. Paul talks about finishing the race and being poured out. He suffered much for his faith and made it to the end without falling away. It has always been about that.

“The Church has been persecuted since it began…”

And it will continue to be so. Endurance is a constant theme throughout Scripture.

  7. Katherine on August 4, 2020 at 10:00 am

I have done major research both for and against a rapture and both sides have compelling verses to validate their belief some stronger then others. Regardless of which theory is true one thing people keep missing and no one seems to address this question – maybe you can answer…..

How does everyone miss the 7 churches in Revelation? I was always taught that the Bible is to be read in three ways….for the Jews, for the body of believers, and for ourselves. 99% of verses are to be taken and understood in those 3 ways that is how the Word penetrates to Bone and Marrow (Yes you can dispute this statement but we know certain verses apply directly to us that is how the Word works)…it is because it is meant to be understood and applied to ourselves but also to certain groups. That being said the 7 churches/assemblies (assemblies is the original word) only 1 of the 7 groups is “protected/removed/hidden” the other 6 are “tested/tried/chastised” so if we are looking at the Word as it relates to us (ME) which one of the 7 are we (as in ME)? Yes, each of the churches were in existence and can be applied to the time in which John wrote them, and we can see they are “denominations/congregations” (RC church apply to any of the 7???) but “WE” as a denomination WON”T be standing before the Throne of YVHV on the day of Judgement. Only “ME” as in each believer will stand before YVHV individually…so each of the 7 churches/assemblies are meant to be understood as each believer.

So it doesn’t matter what a believer believes as far as if the Rapture is true or not…what matters is which Church/Assembly are you (am I) ? Because only 1 church escapes, only 1 church is protected from the wrath to come.

That is how I read things…. I don’t understand that is the rapture is true….how can every believer who calls them themselves “true Children of YVHV” believe so arrogantly that they are the fortunate few to be part of that particular group that gets taken home before the wrath? Have I missed something? Why does no one address the 7 assemblies when trying to prove their theories of the Rapture/Non Rapture? Why are we not looking at this?

Any help or insight would be great.
    Katherine

A good biblical exposition, but unless I missed it, you didn’t discuss the scriptural basis that believers will not be subject to God’s wrath. Since the events described in Revelation are clearly the wrath of God, I would appreciate your thoughts on this.
    Thanks!

The problem, historically, is everyone believes they live in the end times and interprets the Bible as such. Darby popularized the Pre-Trib rapture theory. However, 9/23/17 – we know we live in the end days and can now assess the symbolism in Revelation. Now connect II Esdras 11 and 12 (apocrypha – KJV 1611) with Rev.12 and you see the dragon spewing out of his mouth (C19) and the flight into the wilderness. The rise of the Beast out of the sea is soon to follow.

Rapture is false! Reading the Bible showed me this! Stop watching TV Preachers who say anything for your money!
Jesus said, Behold, I have told you all things.
Another way that Christians will be deceived:
Signs and Wonders! Jesus said there will be NO SIGNS for this adulterous generation except the SIGN OF JONAH! Jesus fulfilled being raised from the dead after 3 days. The other Sign of Jonah is preaching the Gospel. We are commanded to preach the Word and love one another.
Any signs and wonders are of the devil, as in Job. So when you don’t get Raptured up, don’t fall for the signs and wonders! It’s not God.
Be prepared to lose your life for the Kingdom, that is the patience of the Saints.
Even John the Baptist asked if there was another while in prison! He was executed and so will you be! Read in Revelation those who have been beheaded for the Gospels sake. It’s coming people! All the prophets were killed, you are not better than them. Prepare to lose your life so that you can keep it everlasting.
God be with you until the end. Amen.

I truly don’ have the time to go point by point with you on this topic. But I would point you to the work of Ken Johnson regarding the church fathers and their belief in the pre-tribulation rapture; so the belief that the rapture was a recent invention is totally false. Thank the LORD that this isn’t a salvation issue. If, in fact, you are a true believer (and I have no reason to doubt you are), I’ll be looking for you in the air. You won’t be hard to miss – you’ll have a surprised, but thankful, look on your face. 🙂 May the LORD bless you as you bless others – love, grace, and shalom in Yeshua (and dare I say – Maranatha!!! :))!!!
