Update 3/15/21, Congo Immigrant Vomiting Blood on Pittsburgh City Bus — MAY BE EBOLA VIRUS
From a source involved with the police department in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania:
On Monday, March 8, 2021 police were called to meet a City Transit bus for a sick man. They arrived on scene to find a Congo African migrant vomiting blood. The migrant revealed he had just arrived from the Congo.
At present, there is an outbreak of EBOLA VIRUS in areas of the Congo.
The man was reportedly transported by ambulance to a local hospital in Pittsburgh. No info on which hospital.
Later in the day, cops report they were ORDERED not to talk to the media or even to their wives about what happened today.
It appears this may be an active case of EBOLA in Pittsburgh, PA.
More details if we get them.

MARCH 05, 2021 • STATEMENTS AND RELEASES
On February 7, 2021, the Ministry of Health (MOH) in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) announced a confirmed case of Ebola in North Kivu Province. Separately, on February 14, 2021, the MOH in the Republic of Guinea (Guinea) confirmed an Ebola case in N’Zérékoré Prefecture. Upon confirmation of the outbreaks, the U.S. Government (USG) implemented a forward-leaning, whole-of-government response to help quickly control and end the outbreaks. USG personnel in affected and border countries immediately supported national preparedness and response activities, such as survivor care, surveillance, and overall infection prevention and control, building on capacities strengthened in past Ebola outbreaks. And, the USG has committed more than $3.5 million in assistance to support the rapid responses. The COVID-19 outbreak has further confirmed that the health and safety of one country is the health and safety of the world. The Biden administration is committed to being a strong public health partner by supporting DRC, Guinea, and communities experiencing these outbreaks. USG agencies and Embassies are working closely with local, national, and international partners to ensure the response efforts are well integrated and aligned. These efforts include:
Facilitating access to Ebola vaccines and therapeutics: The vaccines that DRC and Guinea are receiving come from a global Ebola vaccine stockpile established January 2021. A $20 million USG contribution, provided to Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, and specifically dedicated to support a stockpile of licensed Ebola vaccines funded the first deliveries of doses into the stockpile. The USG has coordinated delivery of 120 treatment courses of U.S.-developed Ebola therapeutics to Guinea, with more doses available, if needed.
Increasing response capacity: To increase response capacity and save lives, the USG is helping the DRC, Guinea, and neighboring countries to increase disease surveillance, laboratory, infection prevention and control, and emergency management capacities, as well as access to diagnostics, vaccines and therapeutics. The USG is also working to enhance risk communications, access to safe and dignified burials, and supporting survivors.
Increasing surveillance and case management systems: The CDC has provided guidelines and standard operating procedures for finding cases, and is also supporting critical epidemiology and disease surveillance systems in affected and neighboring countries to establish transmission chains. USAID is funding partners to support active surveillance, community engagement, and supporting the establishment of Ebola treatment and transit centers.
Strengthening infection prevention and control (IPC) practices: In close collaboration with WHO, Africa CDC, and other partners, the USG is creating and deploying IPC training, mobilizing response staff, and engaging Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Mali to ensure readiness for potential cases. USAID launched a program to strengthen IPC in major health facilities, including hygiene promotion, triage and isolation, and training of health care workers.
Supporting community engagement activities to increase awareness: To promote behaviors that decrease risk of transmission, the U.S. Embassy in DRC is activating its network of exchange program alumni and opinion leaders. USAID is supporting risk communication and community engagement activities. And, CDC is supporting community feedback and mass communication activities, as well as helping to build capacity to report rapidly and accurately community questions, perceptions, and concerns.
Mitigating the risk of spread to the United States: The ability to identify and locate those in the U.S. who may have been exposed to Ebola is critical to help prevent the spread of the disease within U.S. communities. On March 2, 2021, CDC issued an order that went into effect on March 4 requiring airlines and aircraft operators to collect and transmit passenger contact information to the USG for the purposes of public health follow-up. In support of CDC’s order, the Department of Homeland Security is directing operators of aircraft to funnel passengers who in the last 21 days traveled from, or were otherwise present within, the DRC or Guinea to one of six United States airports where the USG is focusing public health resources to implement enhanced public health measures.

First revealed last week by Health Secretary Matt Hancock, a mutated version of the coronavirus discovered in parts of the UK, South Africa and other locations has prompted a swath of countries to block travelers and commerce coming from the UK. Some are warning that there’s still not enough data on the variation (which some scientists claim is 70% more infectious than the original) for the public to start panicking about whether this might impact the efficacy of the first wave of vaccines.
According to the latest data from the COVID Tracking Project, the number of new cases tumbled back below 200K on Sunday, though the 7-day average was 211,387. Deaths were reported at 1,618, while the 7-day average was 2,613.
One reason the march higher in hospitalizations has stalled is due to the Midwest, which, thanks in part to the efforts of local officials, hospitalizations have started to fall from their peaks. Meanwhile, the three other regions are seeing deaths rates climbing to new records or – in the case of the northeast – the highest level since the spring.
While most states have reported record tallies in the past few weeks, the pace has slowed over the past week.
Switzerland was one of the first European countries to bar Britons from traveling to the country, while Ireland is already saying that it might expand its 48-hour ban. Sweden, meanwhile, said Monday morning that it would ban all non-Swedish people from entering Sweden from the UK. Additionally, at least five countries and airlines, including Germany and Turkey, are said to have banned flights from South Africa on Monday
As markets panic, some scientists are warning that these mutations raise new questions about the vaccines and their ability to protect people, while others are cautioning that it’s likely these mutations won’t have any impact on the vaccines and their ability to protect people. The WHO warned it could take days or more than a week to find out what impact this might have on vaccines, according to Soumya Swaminathan. “As we start using drugs and vaccines, viruses evolve to try to avoid those,” Swaminathan said in an interview with Bloomberg TV. “At this point in time, I don’t think we have any evidence to suggest that the vaccines under development will not work for the majority of patients.”
Saudi Arabia halted international flights and closed its borders for one week over fears about the fast-spreading new strain of the coronavirus. And the kingdom may extend the suspension for another week depending on the nature of the virus spread, according to state-run Saudi Press Agency.
While Europe imposes new travel restrictions reminiscent of the springtime lockdowns, the head of the Warp Speed Operation Moncef Slaoui said he hopes the US will reach the threshold for herd immunity in “May or June”.

- Seoul Metropolitan Government and its neighboring Gyeonggi and Incheon provinces will ban holiday gatherings of five or more people from Dec. 23 to Jan. 3. The restrictions would apply to about half of the country’s 51 million people. Weddings and funerals aren’t included in the new rules.
- Indonesia’s capital has extended its virus restrictions by another two weeks as cases continue to rise and to prevent any further spikes from the holiday season.
- Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s government suspended flights between Canada and the U.K. for 72 hours effective midnight Sunday due to “the high number of cases of a variant Covid-19 virus observed in some areas in the United Kingdom.”
- Tokyo Gov. Yuriko Koike urges the capital’s 14 million residents to stay home during the upcoming holiday season to prevent further spread of infections. “I would like people to prioritize life above everything else during the year-end and New Year,” Koike said at a news conference. “I do hope families will stay home during the holiday season.”
- Colombia’s capital Bogota will return to partial mobility restrictions where citizens are only allowed to buy staples, go to restaurants, shopping malls, among other spots, depending on the last digit of their ID, Mayor Claudia López said in a video posted on Twitter. The new measures will take place from Monday.
- U.S. congressional leaders say they have reached an agreement on a $900 billion package to provide the first new aid in months to an economy hammered by the pandemic, with votes likely on Monday.
- China records 23 new cases for Sunday, unchanged from a day earlier. Of the new cases, 21 were imported. The two local transmissions were in the northeastern provinces of Liaoning and Heilongjiang.
- Clinical trials of Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine in Japan will start “as early as in January,” a Takeda Pharmaceutical executive says.
Finally, Slaoui said 8 million doses of the new coronavirus vaccines from Moderna and Pfizer are expected to be shipped on Monday. In other news, South Australia imposed a 14-day quarantine on arrivals to Sydney on Sunday and banned travelers from affected suburbs as a coronavirus cluster in the city grew to around 70, while fears of a mutated strain intensify.
While there’s no evidence showing that the mutated strain is more resistant to the vaccine, the central assumption now is “that all of next year’s forecasts and views could actually turn out wrong,” said Christoph Rieger, head of fixed-rate strategy at Commerzbank AG. “That is quite a scary thought indeed.” Source: ZeroHedge
Utah Mink First Wild Animal In US To Test Positive For Mutated Coronavirus
One of the most inexplicably horrifying chapters of the global SARS-CoV-2 will be the mass slaughter of mink in Denmark after the animals were discovered to be infected with SARS-CoV-2. While these mink weren’t the only animals to test positive (the list includes several cats and dogs as well as a tiger at the Bromx zoo), for reasons of their own (they were worried about the threat that the mutated form of the virus could transfer from the mink to human hosts in another example of ‘zoonotic transmission’), the Danes decided to slaughter 17 million of them.
Headlines about the decision elicited outrage, yet authorities persevered. Only, they didn’t anticipate that after the bodies had been buried, a bizarre and exceedingly rare natural phenomenon caused their corpses to literally rise from their mass graves, “Pet Sematary”-style. That caused an even bigger scandal, and the Danish government scrambled to blame the incident on the contractor hired to cull and bury the minks.
Well, pretty soon, we might see a similar kind of catastrophe playing out in the American southwest, where a wild mink has reportedly tested positive for COVID-19 in Utah – the first example of a wild animal testing positive for the virus in the US.
To be sure, it’s not the first time a mink has tested positive in the US (a farm in Oregon was placed on quarantine after a mink there tested positive, and infected minks have been found on farms in Wisconsin and Michigan). But as the NY Post remarked, since the animal tested was a wild mink, it’s possible mutated forms of COVID-19 might be “running wild” in America.
“To our knowledge, this is the 1st free-ranging, native wild animal confirmed with SARS-CoV-2,” the US Department of Agriculture said Monday in a statement announcing the alarming discovery.
The mink tested positive during what was apparently a routine test of various wild animal species carried out by the FDA. No other species tested positive (though that doesn’t mean there isn’t more COVID out there – far from it). The USDA said it has notified the WHO about its discovery.
Mink have tested positive for the virus in other nations as well.
It’s not clear what the USDA’s plans are. But in the meantime, Americans should probably avoid hunting and/or eating any small rodents or mammals hunted in the wild.

Following record or near-record daily death tolls in Texas, Florida and several other badly hit Sun Belt states yesterday, it looks like the US recorded more than 1,000 deaths for the third day in a row, according to the figures reported yesterday.
While the Sun Belt outbreak appears to have passed its peak for new cases, deaths remain elevated, as do hospitalizations. It appears that the measures undertaken by regional leaders have finally caused the rate of infection to plateau.
As a new cluster emerges in the capital of Xinjiang, the far-flung western province where 1 million or more members of a Muslim minority have been sent to a network of prison camps, Beijing has apparently sloughed off its own outbreak scare, and is now allowing movie theaters to reopen in the capital city for the first time since the outbreak began.

In Western Europe, fears about a second wave have intensified as a new outbreak in Catalonia, a region of Spain known for its separatist inclinations, has spread seemingly untrammeled.
Even the revival of a lockdown and other containment measures in Lleida and the regional capital Barcelona, the area where the new outbreak is centered, has yet to slow the new outbreak, and in their frustration, Spanish officials have started playing “the blame game”, according to the FT.
José Luis Morales Rull, lead coronavirus doctor at one of the main hospitals in the Catalan city of Lleida, took his first time off in months after Spain’s original lockdown ended on June 21. With a single Covid-19 patient remaining, he looked forward to closing the dedicated ward and going back to normal. But when he returned to work two days later, there were 16 infected patients and the numbers have not stopped rising since.
Dr Morales this week opened a fourth Covid-19 ward to treat the influx of victims after a second wave of infections around Lleida and the regional capital Barcelona prompted authorities to impose new restrictions on the province. Catalonia, with 16 per cent of Spain’s population, has accounted for almost half of its 16,410 Covid-19 cases recorded in the past two weeks. “They underestimated the enemy,” the doctor said.
After recording 99 consecutive days without a single verifiable case of local transmission, Vietnamese health officials in the coastal city of Danang have quarantined more than 50 people who are believed to have come into contact with a man who tested positive in what many fear might be the first locally-transmitted case in months. The unidentified 57-year-old male had tested positive for the virus twice and authorities are waiting for more tests to confirm the situation.

And the Book of Revelation describes the judgments of the apocalypse in terms of pestilence and plagues:
7 When he opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say, “Come!” 8 And I looked, and behold, a pale horse! And its rider’s name was Death, and Hades followed him. And they were given authority over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword and with famine and with pestilence and by wild beasts of the earth. (Rev. 6:7-8)
