Transgender women ‘should be entitled to womb transplants’ so they can have a baby

The world’s first baby, born using a womb from a dead woman, took place in Brazil in 2017

He explained: “The most important step is the harvesting from the donor as great care is required to avoid damage to the arteries and veins supplying the uterus.

“The actual “plumbing in” is straight forward.

“The donor vessels are connected to the pelvic artery and veins which are the same in both males and females.

“With a uterus transplant in a trans-female, the neovaginal would be opened at the pelvic end to accept the donor womb.

“And the same procedure is used in a cis-female transplant with the donor uterus being attached to the native vagina.

“Trans females have a much narrower pelvis than cis-women of the same height, but there would still be room for them to carry a child.

“Supplemental hormones could be taken to replicate the changes that occur in the body when a woman is pregnant.

“Meanwhile it’s highly unlikely that a trans female would give birth naturally, but would be delivered via Caesarian section in order to safeguard the child.”

Other experts have also endorsed Mr Inglefield’s claims.

In November last year, Dr Richard Paulson, former president of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, said there was no anatomical reason why a womb could not be successfully implanted into a transgender woman.

He added: “You could do it tomorrow. There would be additional challenges, but I don’t see any obvious problem that would preclude it.

“I personally suspect there are going to be trans women who are going to want to have a uterus and will likely get the transplant.”

Womb transplant surgery is being seen as a major cause for hope for those who suffer from Mayer-Rokitansky-Kuster-Hauser (MRKH) syndrome.

This is when a woman fails to develop a proper uterus and vagina yet has normal ovarian functions and normal external genitalia.

Women who have MRKH will still go on to develop breasts and pubic hair, but they will not have a menstrual cycle.

The syndrome is thought to affect around 1 in every 4,500 women.

But Mr Inglefield, who appeared in ITV’s fly-on-the wall documentary Transformation Street, says the demand among trans women could be far greater.

He added: “According to some estimates, the prevalence of transgender females in the UK could be as high as 1,000 per 100,000 persons, around 1 per cent of the population.

“Just looking at the potential number of trans females who might seek uterine transplantation surgery and it’s abundantly clear it could become a vital medical service.

“As it stands, trans women face a tricky pathway to motherhood, which is often achieved through surrogacy, adoption or fostering.

“But those pathways are not without their own pitfalls and many would-be mothers simply long to ‘carry’ their child, to be pregnant in the very real sense.

“As womb transplant surgery is further improved and perfected, it’s vital trans women are not excluded from the conversation, at it could immeasurably improve a great many lives.”

The Gender Recognition Act 2004 says that a trans female can apply for a Gender Recognition Certificate if they wish for their acquired gender to be legally recognised in the UK.

Applicants must go before a panel, documenting any treatments they’ve had to change their sexual characteristics, such as hormone treatment or surgery.

They must have lived in their acquired gender for at least two years if single, or six years if married or in a civil partnership.

A spokesperson for the HFEA said: “I can confirm that to our knowledge there are currently no regulations in place which would prevent a person who has received a uterus transplant from having IVF treatment.

“The law, as it currently stands, does not require the person who is carrying a child to have obtained a GRC stating that they are female before having their fertility treatment.

And as stated in the Act the person who carries or has carried a child as a result of an embryo transfer, or artificial insemination, is considered as the mother of the child at birth.”

The new test case, which has made headlines across the world, saw a 32-year-old woman born without a uterus given one taken from a 45-year-old donor who died from a brain haemorrhage.

The donor womb was implanted in a 10 hour surgery, which saw veins, arteries, ligaments and vaginal canals being connected.

And she then received fertilised eggs produced by IVF.

The birth took place in December 2017, but has only now been reported in journal The Lancet.

There have been 39 womb transplants across the world and of these, 11 babies born.

Until the Brazil transplant the surgery had failed 10 times.

The womb donor was a mum-of-three, who was in her mid-40s and died from bleeding on the brain.

Just six weeks after the surgery, the woman who received the womb started having periods.

Then, seven months later the eggs, which had been fertilised via IVF, were implanted in her womb.

Her baby was born by caesarean secion on December 15, 2017, and weighed 6lb.

Dr Dani Ejzenbery, from Hospital das Clicas in Sao Paulo, where the surgery was carried out, said: “The first uterus transplants from live donors were a medical milestone, creating the possibilty of childbirth for many infertile women with access to suitable donors and the needed medical facilities.

“However, the need for a live donor is a major limitation as donors are rare, typically being willing and eligible family members or close friends.”

The biggest claim of the transgender movement is that a man who thinks he’s a woman can really be a woman, and vice versa. You see this in many ways — from preferred pronouns, sex reassignment surgeries, and demands to use the restroom of perceived rather than given gender.

The problem is that this is a philosophical claim that is not true, and can never be true, in any way or form. A man’s chromosomes cannot be engineered into female chromosomes. Altering one’s appearance cosmetically or surgically cannot change the underlying reality of a person’s biological make-up. The psychology of the mind cannot override the facts of a person’s biological markers. The transgender revolution demands that we believe falsehoods about human nature. And truth and falsehood have never been a matter of majority vote, because we know that there is a Creator (GOD) who has the authority to decide and state what is right and wrong.

There’s no such thing as a “gay Christian”
Or a transgender Christian, or a stripper Christian, or a bank robbing Christian, or liar Christian. Qualifying someone’s Christianity by their pet sin is an oxymoron. Christians, by definition, are people who sorrowfully turn from their sin and become completely new sin-hating creations through the power of the shed blood of Christ. Christians are characterized by lifelong repentance and the desire not to sin out of love for their Savior.

Are there people who are genuinely saved but still struggle against sexual sin? Of course. Every truly born again person struggles against sin for the duration of her natural life. But the Bible knows nothing of a willfully unrepentant conversion to Christ or life in Christ (regardless of a previous “decision” for Christ, participation in baptism, etc.). It is a contradiction in terms and simply does not exist. Nobody gets to carry her sin with her past the cross.

Tell the good news  People enslaved by sexual sin, especially those who think they’re Christians, need the good news of the gospel just like people enslaved to any other sin. God can and does save people out of homosexuality, transgenderism, promiscuity, and all other forms of sexual immorality, as the 1 Corinthians 6 passage above makes abundantly clear. His arm is not too short to save anyone.

Withholding church membership, sacraments, and leadership
Local church membership, sacraments (baptism and the Lord’s Supper), and leadership positions within the church are restricted to Christians, because the church is, by definition, the body of Christ: regenerated believers. It’s certainly fine for any non-believer to attend services, classes, or events at your church as long as she isn’t being disruptive or pushing unbiblical beliefs, but people who are living unrepentantly in any sin are not Christians and should not be invited to become members of the church, participate in baptism or the Lord’s Supper, and certainly should not be given any position of service or leadership in the church.

Going to the chapel if they’re going to get “married”
Christians should not attend same sex weddings (or receptions, showers, bachelor parties, housewarmings, etc.) for any reason. (When it becomes legal, this will also apply to plural marriages and other unbiblical forms of “marriage”.) Regardless of your motives for attending, it appears to others and to the same sex couple as though you approve of their sin.

Often, the reason Christians will give for feeling they should attend a same sex wedding is that they are afraid declining to attend will cause the couple to cut off the relationship with them, closing the door to any future opportunity to share the gospel. But if you’re close enough to the couple to be invited to the wedding, shouldn’t you have already shared the gospel with them? Do you not trust that God can save someone, either immediately or in the future, from one instance of sharing the gospel? This person’s salvation does not rest on your shoulders. It can only be accomplished by the Holy Spirit, and only in His timing. And whether you have or haven’t yet shared the gospel with the couple, what could your attendance at the wedding accomplish other than creating confusion? How can you support their “marriage” by attending the wedding and then turn around later and tell them they need to repent of this sin?

Additionally, attending the wedding sends the message to your children, family, church, friends, co-workers and others that you approve of the sin of homosexuality. We all have people watching us to see whether we stand with Christ or with the world. It’s imperative that we set a godly example.

Yes, if you decline to attend the wedding, you might lose your relationship with that homosexual friend or loved one. But Christ calls us to separate ourselves from the world and be loyal to Him even if it costs us everything- including those we love the most:

Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

The gospel divides. And Christians are always called to stand on Christ’s side of the divide.

The Wedding Singer
For many of the same reasons Christians should not attend same sex weddings (or other unbiblical forms of “marriage”), Christian wedding service providers (singers, photographers, bakers, wedding consultants, venues, etc.) – and certainly churches – should decline to provide services for same sex weddings. Doing so facilitates sin, is unloving to the couple (who needs to hear the gospel and repent), and is disloyal to Christ. Christ died for this sin. How can someone who calls herself a Christian play any part in helping people celebrate a sin that nailed her Savior to the cross? Yes, you might lose your business. Is Christ worth that to you?

Boys will be BOYS
It is neither loving nor compassionate to help people participating in transgender or other gender identity sin pretend to be the opposite sex or several sexes or no sex at all. While it’s not a good idea to go around speculating about the biological sex of perfect strangers, if you know a person well enough to know that he was born male or she was born female, you should not be using referent terminology that indicates otherwise. A biological male is a “him” not a “her” or a “them.” A biological female is a “her” not a “ze” or “fae”. Christians should also not be participating in other activities that further gender identity sins such as helping a biological male shop for female clothing, attending “coming out” parties, referring to “pregnant men” when the pregnant person is biologically female, etc.

Policy and Procedure
One of the main ways the sexual immorality agenda is being advanced is through lawsuits. If your church won’t allow a same sex wedding in its facilities, the church could be sued. We’ve already seen many instances of wedding service providers who have been sued for declining to provide services for same sex weddings. Laws are now in effect which attempt to force businesses to use the preferred pronouns of those in gender identity sin. It’s a good idea for churches, Christian businesses and other Christian organizations to study up on the legislation surrounding sexual sin, and put in place any possible legal protections. Does your church, business, or organization have the proper written policies in place? You might want to take a look at the Nashville Statement as an example or template.

Sexual sin, whatever form it may take, is just that: sin. People who participate in sexual sin are not a special sect of society. They are sinners just like everybody else. They need love and the gospel just like everybody else. As Christians, we must stand firm on what the Bible says about sexual sin and call those who are enslaved by it out of darkness and into His glorious light. We must offer them the peace, the hope, and the cleansing from sin that only Christ can give. Source
