The United Nations’ food director warned on Tuesday that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine will have a worldwide impact “beyond anything we’ve seen since World War II,” and that the conflict has built “a tragedy on top of a catastrophe.” “We never imagined anything like this could happen,” David Beasley, executive director of the United Nations World Food Program, told the United Nations Security Council.
