Trump needs to be mindful. Both Russia and the US have the same goal of silencing dissenters, even those who carry out murder. Never accept the consensus to be the truth.

Long lines of Russians endured subzero temperatures in January 2024 to demand that anti-Ukraine war candidate Boris Nadezhdin be allowed to run in the forthcoming presidential election. It was protest by petition – a tactic that reflects the legacy of Alexei Navalny, the longtime Russian pro-democracy campaigner. Authorities say Navalny, a persistent thorn in the side of Russian President Vladimir Putin, died in prison on Feb. 16, 2024.

Journalist and geopolitical expert Aaron Maté claims that despite the fact that news of Alexei Navalny’s death in prison made headlines worldwide and elicited statements and condolences from Western government officials, he remained mostly unknown in Russian politics and society on Friday.

The former US ambassador to Russia, Michael McFaul, is making light of the situation. Navalny’s polling average of 2% made him a minor opponent. He was not feared by Putin; in fact, it served Putin’s interests to be seen as his main rival in the West.

In the meantime, the Russian government has just rejected anti-war candidate Boris Nadezhdin. A Russian court also handed out a severe prison sentence to the anti-war scholar Boris Kagarlitsky. Nadezhdin and Kagarlitsky are not as well-known in the West as Navalny, for one reason: they are not employed by Western governments.

Navalny collaborated with NATO intelligence cutout Bellingcat and took part in the “Yale World Fellow” program, which served as a training ground for regime change. That’s why we also don’t hear that Navalny was a virulent xenophobe who compared immigration from Muslims to insects and tooth rot.

That he passed away was awful. He was obviously mistreated. Nonetheless, because he advanced US interests, the US state media would portray him as someone he is not. And compare their rapturous reporting to their silence-or worse, their support-for Julian Assange’s ongoing persecution. or their complete silence over the mistreatment and eventual death of US citizen Gonzalo Lira while he was being held in Ukraine-a subject frequently overlooked by US media.

The Russian opposition figure Alexei Navalny was discovered dead, according to the nation’s prison service.

Navalny, a vocal opponent of Vladimir Putin, was being held captive in a maximum-security facility outside Yamal, near the Arctic Circle.

He was forty-seven years old.

According to an official statement from the federal correctional service’s Yamal directorate, “On February 16, 2024, in Penal Colony No. 3, the convict Alexei Navalny felt unwell after a walk, almost immediately losing consciousness, according to representatives of the department.”

On February 16, while taking a stroll in the third penal camp, Convict Navalny felt ill. He almost instantly passed out.

The medical professionals at the hospital arrived immediately, and an ambulance was sent out.

“Every necessary resuscitation procedure was applied, but the result was not effective.

Ambulance doctors confirmed the prisoner’s death.

Navalny was being held in a prison around 40 miles north of the Arctic Circle, serving a 19-year term under a “special regime”.
