The 12 U.S. cases are in Wisconsin, Illinois, Washington, California, Arizona, and Massachusetts. The CDC in total has 337 persons under investigation for coronavirus from 36 states. In addition to the 12 confirmed positive, 225 have tested negative.

The first man diagnosed with coronavirus in the U.S. has been released from the hospital, according to news reports. The Washington state resident, who had recently traveled to Wuhan, said he was continuing to recover at home. He was released from Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett.

The most recent case is a man in Wisconsin who recently returned from Beijing, where he came in contact with a coronavirus patient.

In California, a husband and wife diagnosed with coronavirus in San Benito County have experienced “worsening symptoms” and were admitted to a hospital outside the county “equipped for a higher level of care,” county officials said. They were originally being isolated at home. The husband had recently traveled from Wuhan, China, although the wife did not. She caught the virus from him, county officials said. They are both 57.

The ninth case involves a woman who had recently traveled to Wuhan and then to Santa Clara, CA. She is being quarantined but never required hospitalization, Reuters reported.

The eighth case is a man in his 20s from Boston who had just returned from Wuhan, according to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. He will remain in isolation until cleared by health officials.

The seventh is also a man from Santa Clara County. He had recently returned from Wuhan and was never sick enough to need hospitalization, health officials said. He is in stable condition and is “self-isolating” at home. His case is not related to the other one in Santa Clara County.

On Thursday, a man in Illinois became the first case of person-to-person transmission of the virus in the U.S, the CDC said. He is the husband of a Chicago woman diagnosed with the virus after returning from Wuhan. He is hospitalized in isolation and is stable. His wife, who is in her 60s, is also in isolation and in good condition. The Chicago Department of Public Health reported that she had visited China in December and returned to Chicago earlier this month.

California has two others: one in Los Angeles County and one in Orange County. The patient from Orange County is a man in his 50s. He is in a local hospital in isolation and is in good condition, according to the Orange County Health Care Agency. Los Angeles County officials did not provide additional details about the patient there.

Arizona’s Department of Health Services said its patient is a Maricopa County resident and member of the Arizona State University community who did not live in student housing. The patient is not severely ill and is being kept in isolation.

The CDC is prioritizing the testing based on a person’s risk.

What are public officials doing to contain the virus?

The World Health Organization (WHO) declared on Jan. 30 that the 2019-nCoV outbreak is a Public Health Emergency of International Concern or PHEIC.

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreysus said the agency had already released $9 million in reserve funding to help poorer countries prepare for a pandemic.  The agency is also sending hundreds of thousands of masks, gloves, and respirators to areas in need.

“We are only as strong as the weakest link,” Tedros said.

He also stressed, though, that much more money would be needed to fund a global response — an estimated $675 million for just the next 3 months.

“It’s a lot of money, but it’s much less than the bill we will face if we don’t invest in preparedness now,” he said.

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has already donated $100 million to the effort.

The U.S. has also declared the crisis a public health emergency.

The U.S. is banning any foreign visitors who have come from China from entering the country. All U.S. citizens who have visited China’s Hubei province in the past 14 days will face mandatory quarantine for 14 days. Other visitors returning from China will be screened and asked to self-quarantine for 14 days.

The State Department has issued a level 4 travel advisory telling people not to travel to China because of the outbreak.

Anthony Fauci, MD, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said the strict precautions are warranted because “the issue now with this is that there are a lot of unknowns.”

He pointed out that the number of cases “has steeply inclined each and every day.”

We now know for certain that a person without symptoms can transmit the disease, Fauci said.

On Jan. 31, the CDC issued federal quarantine orders for all 195 U.S. citizens who recently returned to the U.S. after living in China. The quarantine will last 14 days from the date the plane left Wuhan.

The CDC’s move follows a quarantine issued by Riverside County, CA after one of the passengers tried to leave March Air Reserve Base Wednesday morning without being cleared by health officials.

“This legal order is part of aggressive public health response, the goal of which is to prevent, as much as possible, community spread of this novel virus in the United States,” said Nancy Messonnier, MD, Director of the CDC’s National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases.

“If we take strong measures now, we may be able to blunt the impact of the virus on the United States,” she said.

Better to over-prepare, she said.

“We are preparing as if this were the next pandemic. But we are hopeful still that this is not, and will not be the case.”

Health officials also clarified the distinctions between isolation and quarantine. Isolation is used to keep a person who’s already sick from infecting others. Quarantines restrict the movement of someone who is exposed, but not yet sick.

In the U.S., the number of airports that will screen passengers from China for symptoms has expanded to 20.

Chinese officials have shut down all public transportation to many of the affected cities, affecting millions of people. The first was Wuhan, which has a population of about 11 million. In Wuhan, that includes busses, subways, trains, and the airport.

When did the outbreak start?

China first reported the outbreak in Wuhan on Dec. 30, 2019.

Is travel to China safe?

The U.S. State Department issued a level 4 travel advisory telling people not to travel to China because of the outbreak. Some cities in China, such as Wuhan, are closed to travelers.

Several airlines, including Delta, United, and American, have announced they are ending service to China until the outbreak wanes.

But, commercial flights continue to come and go between the U.S. and China, and the CDC said it was currently evaluating whether or not to restrict the movement of passengers coming in on those flights.

“At this point, we’re evaluating the appropriate strategy in light of the new information. There’s really nothing new to share at this point,” said Martin Cetron, MD, Director for the Division of Global Migration and Quarantine at CDC.

Travelers who do go should:

  • Avoid contact with sick people.
  • Avoid animals, animal markets, and products that come from animals.
  • Wash their hands often with soap and water, or use an alcohol-based sanitizer if that’s not available.
  • Seek medical care right away for a fever, cough, or difficulty breathing. Tell a health care professional about any travel.

What are the symptoms, and how is the virus diagnosed?

China created a test for the virus and shared that information with other countries. The CDC has developed its own test.

Symptoms include fever, coughing, and shortness of breath. They may appear 2 to 14 days after you’re exposed to the virus.

What is the source of the virus, and how is it spread?

Health officials are not sure of the source of the virus yet or how easily it can spread.

The virus can spread from person to person. A new case report published in the New England Journal of Medicine describes how a woman from China infected 4 co-workers at a German company before she showed any symptoms of the disease herself.

The CDC believes that severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) and the Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS), two other types of coronavirus, are spread through droplets when someone coughs or sneezes.

Coronaviruses are found in many different animals, including camels, cattle, cats, and bats. One research paper also suggested snakes as a possible source. The new virus may be linked to the seafood and live animal market in Wuhan that has since been closed.

Is there a vaccine?

There is no vaccine, but the National Institutes of Health is working on one and hopes to begin testing in several months. That testing would be for safety. If it’s safe, there would be testing to see how well it works.

How is it treated?

There is no specific treatment for the virus. Patients are generally given supportive care for their symptoms, such as fluids, and pain relievers. Hospitalized patients may need support with breathing.

Johns Hopkins senior scholar Dr. Amesh Adalja told CNBC on Tuesday that the new coronavirus will likely cause yearly outbreaks, with most of the cases being mild.

“It’s going to become a part of our seasonal respiratory virus family that causes disease,” Adalja said on “Squawk Box.”

However, he expects the current outbreak to turn into a mild pandemic and spread further in the United States. Currently, there are only 11 confirmed U.S. cases, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

China’s National Health Commission on Tuesday raised its confirmed coronavirus cases in the country to 20,900. The death toll rose to 425 there — with one fatality in the Philippines and one in Hong Kong. The World Health Organization said there have been more than 150 coronavirus cases in about two dozen countries outside of China.

Many health professionals and analysts believe the number of cases to be much higher, which could bring the mortality rate below its current 2%.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the NIH’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, and former FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb told CNBC in recent days that they also believe the coronavirus outbreak will turn into a pandemic.

Health officials could declare a “pandemic” if the virus were to start to affect a larger number of people across the globe. The term epidemic is reserved for a more localized spread.

“It’s important that we get a handle on what the severity is and who has the risk factors so that we can protect those individuals,” Adalja said. “Many people are going to get mild illness and it’s going to be more like a flu-like illness for many people but for some, it may be very severe.”

Adalja compared the coronavirus to the 2009 H1N1 swine flu outbreak, which is now seen as a regular flu virus. The swine flu pandemic killed about 285,000 people at the time, but it had a low mortality rate. The 2002-2003 SARS outbreak saw 8,098 cases and 774 deaths. That was a mortality rate of 9.56%.

“There are probably a lot more people who were infected in China who have not been really counted … because they were either asymptomatic or their symptoms were so light that they didn’t come to the attention of health authorities,” Fauci told CNBC on Monday.

Countries around the globe have responded to the coronavirus outbreak by putting preventative measures, such as travel restrictions, in place. Companies, including Starbucks and Apple, have temporarily closed some China operations.

The U.S. instituted on Sunday a mandatory 14-day quarantine of Americans who in the last two weeks have visited Hubei province in China, where the city of Wuhan, the center of the outbreak, is located. The Trump administration is also instructing Americans returning to the U.S. to undergo a two-week self-quarantine if they have been in other parts of mainland China in the past two weeks.

However, Adalja said he’s not sure containment efforts will work since it’s a respiratory virus that’s already in more than 20 countries. “That really argues against containment.”

Dr. Corey Hebert, assistant professor at both Louisiana State and Tulane universities, told CNBC earlier Tuesday that in order to help prevent the virus, people should wash their hands with hot water and soap, get a flu shot, avoid touching their face and wipe areas around them when traveling.

Demon Virus
Asked about the virus while traveling abroad last week, Trump said: “We have it totally under control”. In a separate Twitter posting, he offered reassurance but scant detail for his confidence. By Associated Press Updated On: 05:53 PST, Jan 31, 2020

Yes, are we seeing a slowdown in new virus cases reported this morning. We now have 31,481, which does show a day-to-day decline away from an exponential rate of growth if accurate. Yet for those market participants merrily saying this is “just the flu” (there are some) we also have 4,824, 15% of the total, in critical condition and 638 deaths. Further, one arguably cannot measure the death-rate of any virus against the number of currently sick people: you surely measure it against those who eventually recover vs. those who don’t. Given we have 1,563 who have recovered vs. 638 dead (and 4,824 critical) that is a worrying ratio of 29% dead as an end-outcome, which is right up there with the MERS virus from a few years ago – although, yes, there is real reason for us all to hope that number will decline sharply as milder cases will be fully curable. But the simple flu this is not.

WASHINGTON: Wuhan coronavirus: Donald Trump says deadly outbreak ‘very well under control’ as WHO declares global emergency. President Donald Trump regaled a friendly New Jersey campaign crowd with his thoughts about impeachment, the economy, the border wall, local politics and much more.

But he was conspicuously quiet on January 28 about one big issue keeping much of the globe on pins and needles: the spread of a deadly new type of coronavirus. It has killed more than 170 people in China, sickened thousands more there and led to a handful of confirmed cases in the US, including the first US case of person-to-person transmission reported on by health officials. The State Department on January 30 advised all US citizens against traveling to China.

Trump, a self-described germaphobe, generally has discussed the virus in broad terms, but he offered some of his most extensive comments on the issue to date during an appearance on Janaury 30 at a Michigan manufacturing plant. “Hopefully, it won’t be as bad as some people think it could be, but we’re working very closely with them (Chinese) and with a lot of other people and a lot of other countries, he said. “We think we have it very well under control.”

The Birth Pains Are Growing Stronger….

One of the signs of ruling class collapse is when they can no longer enforce the rules that maintain them as a ruling class. When the Romans started making exceptions to republican governance, it was a matter of time before someone simply decided the rules no longer applied to them. Perhaps the robot historians will consider Obama our Marius or Sulla. Maybe that person is in the near future. Either way, the rule of law is over and what comes next is the rule of men.

“Man will ultimately be governed by God or by tyrants.” as in Nancy Pelosi (D-San Fran-feces)

Our government has been overthrown. As evidenced by Trump’s capitulation on the border, his recent servitude to the GMO industry and his acquiescence to the warmongers, our President has been compromised. Our liberties are being eliminated one by one. Gun confiscation is next. The Constitution is gasping its last breaths. Our borders are destroyed and our culture has been turned upside down by every perversion known to man.

The watchman does not confuse truth with consensus. The Watchman does not confuse God’s word with the word of those who happen to hold power at present, or with the opinion of the majority. This is because powerholders and the majority can fall victim to a lying spirit-and this means a power that actually seizes the majority of experts, the political leadership, and the public.

Everything is right on schedule and, now, the time is come to remove one of the final obstacles standing in the way of a New World Order: The United States Constitution – even if, over the course of many decades, it has already been greatly diminished by the B.E.A.S.T. system; or, more specifically, Bullshit Emerging As Strategic Totalitarianism (B.E.A.S.T.).

They are tolerant of everything except dissenting values and opinions — meaning, of course, they are tolerant of nothing that matters, only themselves.”

Let Me Make This Abundantly Clear. (I Am Apolitical) While I Have a General Distaste for Electric Cars and Politicians No Matter the Party They Belong To, I Am Unashamedly Politically a Bible Believing Conservative Christian. I Have a Severe Distrust of Government. I Believe It Is the Most Inefficient and Ineffective Way to Accomplish Most Things. While I Strongly Disagree with Liberals/Progressives and Conservative on Most Political Issues, and While I Believe Liberals/Progressives and Most Politicians Are Misguided and Naive About What Big Government Will Eventually Result In, I Strive to Not Question Their Motives. At the Same Time, I Find Myself in Agreement with Conservative on Some Issues, and I Do Not Believe Electing Republicans Is the Answer to Everything. Sadly, the Main Difference Between Republicans and Democrats Is How Quickly They Want to Drive the Car Towards the Cliff. Put, I Do Not Believe the Government Is the Solution for Everything. I Do Not Place Any Faith, Trust, or Hope in Any Politicians to Fix What Is Wrong with the World. “Come Lord Jesus!” (Revelation 22:20) SRH…
