Man-made tradition has been the bane of true worship since before Jesus walked the earth. He rebuked it then, and He rebukes it now (Mark 7:7–8Colossians 2:8). What we sometimes call “worship” is nothing more than a feel-good exercise filled with comfortable practices handed down to us from our parents and grandparents. Many people consider themselves part of a certain religious group simply because that is how they were raised. They never think to question the unbiblical traditions, rites, or exercises this church adheres to because the practices are so familiar. Many times these extra-biblical practices actually contradict scriptural truths but are excused because “that’s the way we’ve always done it.”

Any worship style can be unbiblical if it is not coming from the heart. The Samaritan woman asked Jesus a technicality about worship, and His answer is one we must all follow. He said, “God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth” (John 4:24). When we are exalting the truth of Scripture, when we are personally losing ourselves in the adoration of God, we can engage in true worship whether in a crowded cathedral or alone in the desert. When our lives are dedicated to honoring God in all we do, we are living a lifestyle of worship.

WHAT IS EARTH DAY?
Another godless celebration that aims to worship creation, not the Creator.

Celebrated on April 22.

Since 1970, liberals and public school children across America [and now globally] have bowed to creation, celebrating mother earth, and dedicated themselves to protection of the environment through dubious means, scam science, and Un-Biblical perspectives.
.
Earth day is messed up from its core. It began in 1970 by hippies and liberal politicians. The politicians wanted to take the “flower power” and redirect it from the government to the environment. The hippies, too high on drugs to know they were being used, took the bait.
.
It was a day in which we were being warned of a “new ice age” that was coming, the population explosion was going to leave us all in starvation, and we were going to run out of “fossil” fuels within a generation or two.
.
Clearly the prognosticators were wrong, as they are today. The Bible says, “While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease” (Genesis 8:22).
.
Earth Day is just another of a long line of man-made schemes to “serve the creature rather than the Creator” (Romans 1:25). Here’s my advice on how you and your family should deal with the paganism of this observance:”

And what about Earth Day?  Earth Day was founded and promoted by radicals such as Paul Ehrlich who advocated for compulsory sterilizations and putting sterilants in the water supply (among many other things) to ‘reduce the population’ and, oh yea, ‘save the earth.’  (See his The Population Bomb as one example.)  Are you so sure it is the environment they are concerned about?

I think one reason why Earth Day has wide appeal because ostensibly it calls attention to issues that people of all ideologies can support without bickering.   This also makes it a prime place to do propaganda.  It is only a matter of time before people discover that these ways to ‘save the earth’ actually will do little, and that the environmentalists all know that the ‘only’ effective thing to do is reduce the number of people.  I guess the hope is that people will decide on their own to limit their family size… so the government doesn’t have to come and do it for you.

But I have this sneaking suspicion that there are people who would very much like the government to have that power, and I don’t think they are motivated one lick by ‘environmental’ concerns.

This Earth Day, don’t be a dupe.  Study the history of the day and the persons involved, and find out what they really believed.  It begs the obvious question:  do they still believe these things?  Which begs the next obvious question:  are you actually falling in step with their agenda?

Since it is not a Christian holiday, should a Christian observe Earth Day? There is nothing wrong with observing a day to emphasize the value of planting trees and recycling trash. Care for the earth is not a secular concept. When God created the first man and woman, He charged them to “be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves upon the earth” (Genesis 1:28). In fact, man’s first job was to care for the beautiful garden God had created (Genesis 2:15). Both the earth and humans are God’s creation. We should care for the world as a miraculous work of God’s own hands. This care is known as stewardship, the act of being responsible for the care and cultivation of something. God did not create the world for us to neglect and abuse. He created it, in part, to be enjoyed, and, in order to enjoy creation, we must be good stewards of it.

A problem with celebrating Earth Day, for many Christians, is the politicization of the observance. Political activists use Earth Day as a platform to disparage technological progress and call for expensive government projects, more intrusive regulations, and globalization. They try to claim the moral high ground, asserting that immediate implementation of their political priorities is the only way to “save the earth” and that to oppose their leftist political agenda is to jeopardize the earth itself. Christians are right to be wary of the sketchy science behind claims of global warming, overpopulation, acid rain, ozone holes, and other alarmist, hot-button issues, especially given the many failed prophecies of environmentalists since the first Earth Day in 1970.

As Christians who believe God’s Word, we know that the earth was not meant to last forever. God tells us that this earth will be destroyed to make way for a new heaven and a new earth (Isaiah 65:172 Peter 3:12–13Revelation 21:1). Therefore, we know that there is ultimately no way to “save” the earth from its eventual destruction, which will be carried out in God’s own time and God’s own manner.

In conclusion, there is nothing in Scripture that would prohibit a Christian from celebrating Earth Day or engaging in environmental activities. But Christians must be discerning. We should not allow ourselves to be used as pawns in a globalist political agenda or to be swept up in movements that serve the creation over and above the Creator (see Romans 1:25).
