Daily Devotion: We Become Broken Vessels and the Light Shines Out.
What an interesting plan the LORD made for them. Every one of the 300 men took a pitcher with a light inside it. The other one had a trumpet in it. As planned, they smashed the pitchers, which let the light shine through. They blew their horns with the other hand and then yelled, "A sword for the LORD and for Gideon!"
The enemy was scared because they thought that each light went to a group of soldiers. They killed each other because they were scared in the dark. The dream that Gideon heard came true. What sword did they yell about? They were following the Word of the LORD without question.
We have a prize in clay jars. It's the world's light. There are times when it seems like there are a lot more people than us. But we keep believing and following the Word. As our bodies break, the light shines through. When we sound the Gospel trumpet, it confuses the enemy, who are the spiritual forces of darkness. The enemy doesn't know who is friend and who is foe in the dark. In the end, he beats himself. We don't really do anything important. God deserves all the praise. We don't have many people or weapons with us, but we just do what God says and watch him work. God was true to Gideon when He told him what to do and reassured him that He would do it. Will He not be true to you too?
As you follow God, have faith that He will bring you victory.
Judges 7:20 20The three companies blew the trumpets and smashed the jars. Grasping the torches in their left hands and holding in their right hands the trumpets they were to blow, they shouted, "A sword for the LORD and for Gideon!"
