Alarming new data has revealed that Canada euthanized 16,499 people through its taxpayer-funded socialized healthcare system in 2024, accounting for 1,135 more deaths than the number of firearm homicides in the United States in the same year. In 2024, Health Canada reported 16,499 fatalities as part of the government’s Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) program.
In comparison, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported 15,364 firearm homicide deaths in the same year. Notably, in 2024, Canada’s population was around 41.3 million, compared to 340.1 million in the United States. That indicates that Canada’s 16,499 euthanasia deaths accounted for around 0.040% of the country’s total population, or about 40 per 100,000 people.
America’s 15,364 firearm homicides accounted for around 0.0045% of the population, or 4.5 deaths per 100,000. Adjusted for population, Canada’s state-administered euthanasia mortality rate was approximately nine times higher than the firearm homicide rate in the United States. The astounding data indicate that state-administered death was responsible for significantly more deaths in Canada than gun-wielding murders in the United States.
