By SRH, The Texas Supreme Court issued an emergency stay, instructing Democrat-controlled Harris County not to implement a guaranteed income program and stopping the county from making payments until the court takes further action. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton filed a lawsuit earlier this month requesting an urgent order to prevent Uplift Harris, the guaranteed income program, from sending payments to citizens, claiming that it violates both the US and Texas constitutions. On Tuesday, the state supreme court granted his request, one day ahead of the scheduled payments.
