Fines, Five Years of Jail Time or Both… We should be particularly concerned about the apparent effort to pressure people into vaccination. As States that staunchly uphold ethics in research, CDC, following federal requirements, this policy instead negates voluntary informed consent. Consent cannot be mandated, by definition. The CDC policy also violates the principle of do no harm, by not advising members of the community that compliance with this policy could result in experiencing adverse effects, ranging from the mild and trivial, to serious injury requiring hospitalization, and in some cases even death. We have not seen any language warning about adverse reactions and possible death anywhere in the policy announcements. The compulsion to vaccinate also runs afoul of legal provisions that prohibit discrimination on the grounds of ethnicity, religion, and political beliefs.
