King David The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart. —  1 Samuel 16:7 Samuel was sent by God to Bethlehem to anoint a new king. Because the present king, Saul, had failed to obey and honor God, God decided to make his decision for the next monarch public. Samuel’s attention was drawn to Jesse’s sons, a line of seven young men beginning with the oldest and tallest.
