Spotify Added COVID-19 Content Advisories Due to Joe Rogan Controversy.

Spotify’s chief executive officer, Daniel Ek, has stated that content advisories will be added to podcast episodes in an effort to counteract disinformation concerning COVID-19. The Swedish audio streaming service said in a blog post on Jan. 30 that it was “working to add a content advisory to any podcast episode that includes a discussion about COVID-19.” The proposed alert follows Spotify’s removal of Neil Young’s songs after the musician accused podcaster Joe Rogan of disseminating incorrect information regarding coronavirus vaccines and “potentially causing death.” Young stated on Wednesday that Spotify accounted for 60% of his music’s global streaming and that the removal of his tracks from the platform signals “a huge loss for my record company to absorb,” but that his music will “live on in a better place” soon.
