BY THEIR OWN ADMISSION ROMAN CATHOLICISM IS BUILT UPON THE FLESH- Mt.16:18

By Edward O;Hara,

We see this in the way RC define Mt.16:18. In this they will tell you straight up that their religion is built upon a man. Upon the flesh. And this man is not Jesus. It is Peter. For even as recently as with the current pope, and throughout her entire pagan history, she has said that there is no salvation outside of the Roman Catholic religion whose first pope was Peter.

Because to her it is only in bowing to the pope as one who stands in the place of God on earth, and through belief in her pagan sacraments, that one receives salvation. This is why this religion fails to teach even one thing that is Biblical. And there has never been, nor can there be, any truth found in her. She is truly a habitation of devils. The harlot of Rev.17.

She finds her foundation for her dogma that builds her church on the flesh in what comes from Jesus’ statement when speaking to Peter in Mt.16:18 saying, “18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”

Just as she does with all scripture, Roman Catholicism misinterprets this passage too by making it to mean that Jesus renamed Simon to be Peter because he was to be the rock that the ecclesia, what they have translated as church, that would be birthed by Jesus’ death and resurrection would not be built upon spiritual things, but upon the man Peter. Making him and every pope thereafter through what she has coined as apostolic succession, it’s foundation.

Wrongly interpreting Jesus’ words here to mean that it was the man Peter himself, a man of flesh, that is the rock that God would build His ecclesia upon. Unable to see the truth of what Jesus was saying here because she reasons through the scriptures by the flesh, instead of through the spirit, as she attempts to understand spiritual things.

But, what Jesus was plainly teaching is that it is when a man perceives and believes the words that Peter said here that he becomes a part of God’s assembly of called out ones. God’s ecclesia. And not when he trusts in a man she calls her pope who leads the Roman Catholic religion. Starting with who she says was her supposed first pope Peter.

So it is that when a man believes as Peter did, that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, he has met the requirement for salvation Paul gives in Rom.10:9,10 in confessing the Lord Jesus. And since Jesus’ death and resurrection this means he believes in his heart that God has raised Jesus from the dead. By which confession he is saved.

Fulfilling the words of Jesus in Mt.12:37 where He told them, “For by thy words ye shall be justified. And by thy words ye shall be condemned.”

This is the spiritual understanding that comes when a man says yes to the gospel message with his God given free will. Because it is by this confession that he receives the gift of faith by which he receives the gift of eternal life.

More evidence that this was indeed Jesus’ intention when He said “upon this rock I will build my ecclesia”, comes from when Jesus expresses that no man is to be more highly thought of than another in the body. As Roman Catholicism has with Peter. Assuming that because “he has the preeminence in scripture by almost always being named first among the disciples”, he is above the rest.

This no respect of persons is plainly stated in this passage found in Luke22 where we read, “24 And there was also a strife among them(the disciples), which of them should be accounted the greatest.

25 And he(Jesus) said unto them, The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and they that exercise authority upon them are called benefactors.

26 But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve.”

And Paul when confronted by what some thought to be the seemingly greater position of John, Peter, and James as apostles said in Gal.2, “6 But of these who seemed to be somewhat, (whatsoever they were, it maketh no matter to me: God accepteth no man’s person:) for they who seemed to be somewhat in conference added nothing to me:

7 But contrariwise, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me, as the gospel of the circumcision was unto Peter;

8 (For he that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles:)

9 And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision.”

Here we see not only that Paul did not think of Peter as being a greater apostle than he. But, to the contrary plainly said that John, James, and Peter were apostles to the Jews, the circumcision. And himself being acknowledged by Peter, James, and John that he Paul was made an apostle by God to go to the rest of the nations.

Showing that if anyone of the apostles could have been the first pope, if there was to be such a thing, which there was not, it should have been Paul. Because Romans were part of the rest of the nations, the heathen Paul was made an apostle to. And not Peter. For it was he that they all agreed was to go specifically to the rest of the nations. Of which Rome was a part.

Rome was not an Israelite nation. It was a part of the heathen nations that were never part of Israel. Yet Roman Catholics would have you believe that Peter was their apostle. Their bishop. This should give us pause to think when we consider the words of John in Rev.3:9 saying, “Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.”

Paul even adding that it was from John, Peter, and James that he was given the right hand of fellowship because these recognized that it was he that should go unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision.

So in these passages we find that there is ample reason given both by Jesus and Paul to reject the Roman Catholic notion that Peter being given a name that means pebble or small stone is cause to confer upon him the title of first pope of the Roman church and the rock the ecclesia is built upon.

Knowing these things it becomes clear that the only ones who would ever be called pope or bishop of Rome would be those who follow in the line of the Caesar’s. As we see with the Roman Catholic Constantine when he assumed the reigns of power in the Roman Empire through her succession of Caesars.

Once again revealing the true nature of her papacy. That it is a succession of Caesar’s who by the flesh believed they were Gods that the pope claims the title of “vicar of Christ”. Which is one who stands in the place of Christ. And not because Peter was the first pope at all.

This is why she comes up with such abominable doctrines as original sin and sin nature. Denies free will. Says the work of baptism is required to be saved. Literally eating the flesh and blood of Jesus. Children inherit sin from their parents. And that there are babies in hell.

Basing her beliefs about her being the true church on the flesh rather than upon the spirit. Making a man the rock upon which the church is built. Rather than as Jesus told the disciples, that the rock the ecclesia is built upon is the revelation that comes only from God that Jesus is the Christ. The Son of the living God.

Have you trusted in Jesus? Do you believe He is the anointed one, the Christ, who came to bring deliverance from death to life, and mortality to immortality to all who will believe in Him?

No amount of bowing to popes can save anyone. For that matter, no amount of praying to Mary can either. Because our salvation comes through faith in Jesus, not Peter or Mary. Aka, Our salvation comes by way of the Spirit, and not by the flesh. Our spiritual house is not built upon the man Peter. Or the woman Mary. But, upon the revelation of who Jesus is.

So it is because the Roman Catholic has made the flesh her foundation that they have no understanding of the truth in this passage. Because they strive in the flesh for what can only be attained by the Spirit of God.

We see the mistake of trusting in the flesh when we read of Peter denying Jesus 3 times after Jesus told Peter he would before the cock crows. Jesus knew Peter would deny Him because He knew Peter was only flesh. And had no spiritual power or understanding in him to withstand persecution.

Jesus was not trying to hurt Peter. But, only wanted him to realize that striving in the flesh to understand spiritual things always ends in abject failure. Just as we see it did again for Peter even after he was saved when he separated himself from uncircumcised believers. When Paul withstood him to his face to make him know he was in the wrong.

Not because the flesh is bad or evil as the gnostic inspired doctrine of original sin teaches. But, because it is only flesh. And only by the power of the Spirit is it possible for men to stand the way Peter needed to when faced with the persecution that he felt surely would have befallen him if he admitted he was with Jesus.

So we see Peter, the supposed rock that the RCC teaches the ecclesia is built upon, did in fact deny Jesus 3 times before the cock crowed just as Jesus said.

But, after Jesus’ resurrection, and Peter was born again and received the dynamic explosive power of the Holy Spirit’s indwelling, we see a completely changed Peter. Because after this nothing could stop Peter from proclaiming the saving power that comes only through faith in Jesus. Power that since the resurrection comes when a man believes as Peter said, “Thou art the Christ the Son of the living God.”

So we see that by her own admission the Roman Catholic religion is the house that is built upon sand Jesus spoke of in Mt.7:24-27. Built upon the flesh of the man Peter that denied Jesus 3 times, and her successive popes. Trusting in popes as ones who speak to them in place of God. Rather than the true rock that is the revelation that comes only from God that Jesus is the Christ the Son of the living God, for her foundation.

And we know what Paul said about those who live by the flesh, right? He said, “5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his… Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.

13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.”

We see here that those who live in the spirit can not live by the flesh. Because the flesh is at enmity with the Spirit of God. Again, not because the flesh is evil. But, because it is only flesh. Flesh that can not perceive the things of the Spirit because they were never meant to.

The flesh was always intended by God to relate to what is natural. This is how God made Adam and said it was very good. With a body that could relate only to the natural world around him that God had placed him in.

And Paul teaches that when we are born we are just as Adam was when God made him. Flesh and blood with no spirit in us. Which is why Jesus said we must be born again. Because flesh and blood can not see nor inherit the kingdom of God. Because flesh and blood is only made for living here on earth. Not for the kingdom of God.

So if you have been deceived to believe that only through the Roman Catholic religion is the way to heaven found, then you need to turn from that trust in the flesh. To a spiritual faith that trusts in the living and true God.

And if you are not Roman Catholic, yet also have been deceived to believe her doctrines. Then you too need to turn from those pagan gnostic beliefs. To trust in the true and living God through the gospel taught by the apostles.

The gospel that tells us Jesus paid for sins by exchanging the price that was His body through death and resurrection for a new one. A ransom that makes it possible for all who will trust in Him to have eternal life now. And the new body Jesus’ exchange, aka ransom, through His death and resurrection bought for us.

It is His love for us that made Him do this. Love that is how the Bible defines grace. Grace that God expressed by His becoming a man just like us. So that He could join with us in our death. So that by His resurrection He was able to conquer death when He raised from the grave in victory over it for Himself and for all mankind.

So, if you will believe this gospel then you will have eternal life. If you will believe this gospel then you will receive an immortal body at the resurrection. If you will believe this then you will be a child of God and heir to His kingdom.

And if you will bring to a standstill the leading of the flesh as Rom.8:13 says, mortifying the deeds of the flesh, and do not build your faith on a counterfeit rock of flesh, to instead be led by God’s Spirit with your faith built upon the true spiritual rock that is the revelation that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God…. then I will see you there or in the air!
