Edward O’Hara… I heard a story once about a church in which the elders decided all church employees must be able to read and write. Knowing their janitor had no education, they told him, “We will support you to go back to school.” “I’m a little old for that,” the janitor said and reluctantly gave his notice. With his savings, he opened a little shop. He did well, opened more shops, and soon needed a bank for all his deposits. When the banker found out the man was illiterate, he said, “My goodness man! Do you have any idea where you’d be if you could read and write?!?” “You bet,” the man answered. “I’d be back at the church sweeping out the fellowship hall.” So what happened to the janitor was actually a blessing in disguise.
