By SRH, Authorities in North Carolina became the fourth state to prohibit the travel of cows on April 10 after reporting that cows in the state tested positive for highly deadly avian influenza. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) tested North Carolina samples and found evidence of influenza, also called bird flu and HPAI, according to the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. State agriculture commissioner Steve Troxler issued a statement saying, “We have spent years developing methods to handle HPAI in poultry, but this is new.
