What was His purpose in making something that is seemingly so unnecessary? And that has the added aspect of being so unclean? In Gal.3:17 we read that the covenants God made with Israel, the promise to Abraham and the law given through Moses, ran side by side while Israel was under the law. Why side by side? Why couldn’t the covenants be joined as one? Because as Paul taught in Rom.11:5,6 if it is by grace it can not be by works. And if by works it can not be by grace. HNewsWire: In my last message studying in Romans detailing Paul’s statement regarding his teaching about what it means to be “a doer of the law”, I explained in the context of ch.1, 2, and 3 that being a doer of the law is to trust God and love as God does. And has nothing to do with keeping the letter of the law. Or said another way, righteousness has nothing to do with works. In Paul’s letter to the Romans this is exactly what he wants us to find.
