ABOUT NOTRE DAME…From the standpoint of architecture it is a great accomplishment, but that doesn’t give it any spiritual worth. Never once was the true gospel of salvation through Christ alone preached within it’s walls. Not once was a reverent prayer to a statue ever heard in heaven. Not once was a sin forgiven by a priest administering a sacrament, nor Christ enter a person by consuming a host. No one was given eternal life by belonging to its religion. Not once did a person receive the Holy Spirit by a slap on the cheek from a Bishop. Not one infant was saved by water poured from a jewel encrusted baptismal, nor one soul redeemed from fictitious purgatory by a lit candle or purchased indulgence. And only God knows what was done in secret behind closed doors.
