Despite the fact that Republicans have been campaigning on the topic of immigration for decades, they have not taken the basic steps that are required to protect the border.As an illustration, by the time President Trump entered office in 2017, Republicans controlled both chambers of Congress; nonetheless, the wall that he vowed to build along the border was never constructed.
