THINGS YOU WERE TAUGHT IN CHURCH THAT ARE NOT TAUGHT IN THE BIBLE- Acts17:10,11

There are a whole host of things we find out by reading the Bible ourselves that we have been deceived to believe are in it that really are not. Things like "God helps those who help themselves." To make you want to do your part in whatever job needed done. When really God helps those who trust in Him.

And really God helps all of us when you think about it. Because the Bible says God rains on the just and the unjust, right? Because even man's very breath is guaranteed by God. And then there's the old standard, "Cleanliness is next to godliness." Usually used to get you to wash your hands and clean your room when you didn't really want to.

In this message I will illustrate a few very critical things we were taught about and may have believed as young christians, that as we read the Bible we became aware that it really does not say.

1- Beginning in Genesis we were taught that Adam being made in God's image and likeness meant that we are made a 3 part being of spirit, soul, and body. But, when reading it for ourselves we find that being created in God's image actually does not mean Adam was made a 3 part being.

Because the Bible actually says that Adam was not a spiritual being like God is. This is shown in Gen.2:7 and 7:15,22 where we see that the breath of life breathed into Adam's nostrils is the same breath of life that every animal, bird, and creeping thing has breathed into their nostrils.

Also we see Paul teaching about Adam as well as the rest of mankind saying, "45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.

46 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.

47 The first man is of the earth, earthy; the second man is the Lord from heaven.

48 As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.

49 And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.

50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption."

And again in Gen.3:19 we see God telling Adam that since he is only flesh and blood made from the elements "from the dust he wee taken and to the dust he shall return." God does not say anything about what happens to his spirit because he does not yet have one.

So here we have conclusive proof that man from the beginning was not made a spiritual being. And that it is because men are flesh and blood, and not because they are sinners by a nature they inherited from Adam caused by his sin, that they can not inherit the kingdom of God.

Yet, every church teaches the exact opposite. Saying that he was a spiritual being when he was made. Using the vague terminology found in Gen.1:26, and a change in definition of the word breath in Gen.2:7, as their proof text for this. When if we are being honest with the scripture we see that all it says is that man was made to look like God as the words used there, "image and likeness", clearly indicate. And that the breath God breathed into Adam's nostrils when Adam was made a living soul was just air.

2- Another thing we see in Genesis that we were taught to believe, that when we read the Bible for ourselves we find is not there, is that when Adam sinned he fell away from God. Pastors everywhere refer to this as "the fall".

But, in Gen.3:22 we see God saying the exact opposite when God says that not only did man not fall away from God, but that to the contrary, "the man has become as one of us to know good and evil." And we see the exact opposite when we read that God continued talking with Adam after he left the garden. Showing conclusively that Adam did not fall away from God when he ate the fruit. Rather, God says he became more like Him. And we see that God continued to speak with Adam outside of the garden the same way He did while Adam was in the garden.

3- Another very important doctrinal deception taught in churches about Genesis is found in Gen.3:15. Here God has asked Adam why he hid from Him. And if you've ever heard this taught in churches you have heard them say it was because Adam was ashamed.

But, when we read what the Bible says we see Adam answered that he hid because he was afraid. Again showing that all churches teach the opposite from what the Bible says saying he hid because he was ashamed. Even many times immediately after reading Adam saying he hid because he was afraid.

Why is this important. Well, aside from the fact that it is contrary to what the Bible plainly says. Their false message about shame also works toward a different understanding about our need for Jesus. Because it leads to the belief that it is because we are bad that we need Him. Rather than the Biblical reason we need Him, that is because we are only flesh and blood and only what is spiritual can see the kingdom of God.

4- This takes us to yet another thing we are taught in the churches that when we read the Bible for ourselves we find is not there. In John3:1-8 Jesus tells Nicodemus that the reason he needs to be born again is because from his mother's womb he is only flesh and blood. And that only what is born of the Spirit is spirit.

Here Jesus makes it very clear that this birth of a spirit in Nicodemus is necessary for him to see the kingdom of God. Making it clear that it is because he is only flesh and blood, and not because of guilt and shame for naughty behavior as is the implication from the wrongly taught idea that Adam hid because he was ashamed, that he can not go to heaven. That he can not see the kingdom of God.

And by being born again, which is the main reason Jesus came as it relates to all men, is this need for Jesus satisfied. A need that we have seen in Genesis that is one that Adam had from the time he was made.

5- Churches also wrongly teach that because God must punish bad behavior He cursed men with death. But, there is nothing in the Bible that says death is a curse. Nor does the Bible say God put this on mankind because of Adam's sin.

In fact, Paul teaches the exact opposite in Rom.5:12-14 when he says "sin is not imputed when there is no law." Here Paul is speaking about all men including Adam who lived before the law was given through Moses. Saying that any that sinned did not have that sin imputed to them.

Which shows that death that came after Adam ate the fruit could not be a punishment from God. But, was only God making good on His word that Adam would die when he ate the fruit. And as the result of no longer being able to eat from the tree of life after Adam was sent from the garden for becoming more like God knowing good and evil that happened.

It's purpose can therefore only be to bring mankind to a place where he can worship God IN SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH. Because no one has ever been punished for becoming more like God. And Paul said this sin was not imputed.

The are many many more examples of this that come from the church's distorting the true meaning of the Bible that I could cite. But, in this message I just wanted to show examples where they actually change the actual words on the page, add words that aren't there, and even take them away when necessary, in order to put forth their false message about man's need for salvation.

And since we can see that they have been lying to us about all of these things. What makes us think that they haven't lied to us about so much more? And I can tell you from my personal studies and church attendance that they have.

But, maybe I'm being too harsh. I suppose it is possible that these people are simply deceived into actually believing what they are saying. But, someone like that can not and should not be trusted to preach the gospel. And at the very least no one who is interested in the truth should patronize their meetings or support them in any way.

I hope that seeing this you will begin to read and believe what is actually written in the Bible. And receive from it what is intended by God who is it's author for you to know. Rather than continuing down the road made of so many lies these false teachers will take you down. And no longer reading into it what they have already decided is the truth, as those who for whatever reason teach these lies have done.

Changes that as I have shown will make the very critical doctrines that come from an accurate understanding of Genesis to become the "different gospel" Paul spake of in Gal.1. So critical in fact that Paul said, "6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:

7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.

8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

9 As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed."

This is why it is so very important that we see these false teachers for what they really are. Wolves in sheep's clothing. Clouds without rain. And if I am being too critical, at the very least these are those Paul spoke of in 2Tim.2 saying that we who know the truth and are servants of the Lord "24 must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,

25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;

26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will."

And this we will do as we strive to bring the truth to as many as will receive it. Who will turn to Jesus in faith for deliverance from any and all false teaching they have been deceived by. And any and all so called "anti religion" thinking that keeps people who do not know any better from trusting in Jesus.

Because Jesus isn't interested in how good or bad you have been. After coming to a saving faith in Jesus the love that is shed abroad in your heart will guide you in those things. 2Cor.5:19 says He took care of all that on the cross. He only wants you to trust in Him.

And He has already showed His bona fides so that you know He is to be trusted by joining with all men in our mortality. A loving sacrifice. For the express purpose of as Heb.2:15 says, "delivering them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage."

And this is exactly what He did. This is exactly why He died. To deliver those who were all their lifetime subject to the fear of death. Question is, will you receive His deliverance? Are you interested in knowing Him and having eternal life? He is the only way. Why? Because only Jesus has conquered death.

So if you will trust in Jesus your quest for eternal life and immortality will be over. If you will trust in Him there will be no more need to live the kind of performance oriented life these false teachings lead one to.

Because He isn't looking for people who think only in terms of naughty or nice works. He's looking for those who will join with Him in a relationship and fellowship that is eternal life.

Do this and you will be born of His Spirit and a child of God. Do this and as God's child you will be heir to His kingdom. Do this and you will join the ranks of those children who receive a new body in the resurrection unto life. Do this... and I will see you there or in the air!
