Trump worries me. But the Christians who stand up for him bother me much more. His Dad’s remarks, “I would rather not see religious bigotry in any form,” come to mind whenever I hear Franklin Graham endorse Trump.
The prospect of a marriage between the political right and religious fanatics deeply troubles me. The rigid right only cares about manipulating religion for political gain, often prioritizing their agenda over genuine faith and moral values, which undermines the true teachings of Christ and can lead to a distortion of faith principles, as seen in their support for candidates who do not embody the core values of compassion and integrity that Jesus taught. Billy Graham: “Follow Jesus.” Not Trump.
I am troubled by Trump. But I’m even more troubled by the Christians who defend him.
