According to an Epoch Times analysis, federal funds from taxpayers have funded LGBT programs in the US and abroad for the previous three fiscal years to the tune of $4.1 billion.

A check of a federal expenditure website shows that between October 1, 2020, and September 30, 2023, the U.S. government awarded more than 1,100 grants to support LGBT-promoting initiatives worldwide.

Project scope varies greatly.

For the LGBT Life Center in Norfolk, Virginia, plans to establish a "safe space for LGBTQ youth and adults to seek support and resources" were awarded a $1.8 million grant by the US government in 2022.

Another winning strategy was one that aimed to promote "diversity, equity, and inclusion in Serbia's workplaces and business communities by promoting economic empowerment of and opportunity for LGBTQI+ people in Serbia". The U.S. government granted a grant of $500,000 to the Serbian activist group Grupa Izadji in order to finance it.

The United States gave $1 million to the Pink Human Rights Defender, an activist group in Armenia, "to empower the LGBTI community" in the small nation that borders Turkey.

It is possible to filter the federal spending website so that only entries containing particular keywords appear. During the previous three fiscal years, 1,181 grants, 31 loans, and nine direct payments were included in a list of distributions that had been filtered using the phrase "LGBT".

Overall, the government awarded 454,821 grants in the most recent fiscal year, which concluded on September 30.

Grants from the government can be given directly to organizations for any purpose or with no restrictions. Federal loans have low interest rates and can be repaid over extended periods of time.

A law requiring foster parents to affirm their LGBT identities is signed by Newsom.

The aggregate amount of awards associated with the phrase "LGBT," with each payout of at least $1 million, exceeded $3.7 billion. LGBT initiatives also received a large number of minor donations.

A search for grants with the term "transgender" yielded 574 results. Grants that disbursed at least $1 million came to a total of around $478 million in that category.
