56 counts of sex abuse, $14M bail Jason McConnell already has another sex abuse case pending

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A Gresham man is being held on $14 million bail after being charged with 56 counts of 1st-degree sexual abuse.

Jason McConnell was arrested by Gresham police in the 4300 block of SE 5th Street on Tuesday, the Multnomah County DA’s Office said. The 45-year-old was previously arrested in July 2018 on 9 counts of encouraging child sex abuse.

As that investigation continued, authorities received allegations he abused a family member. That led to different allegations involving a different woman — not a family member — who is now 23.

But at the time of the alleged abuse, that woman was between 10 and 14 years old.

The case from July 2018 is still pending. 

McConnell has previously been convicted 3 times for DUII, once for assault and once for criminal mischief.
