By SRH, Police and fire chaplains in Carlsbad, California have been instructed to cease praying in the name of Jesus. Pastor JC Cooper has been a volunteer chaplain for the police department for six years. Recently, he was asked to deliver the invocation at a police department awards ceremony. At the end of the prayer, he mentioned the name of Jesus Christ. Subsequently, the city manager informed Pastor Cooper that any future prayers invoking the name of Jesus would result in disciplinary action. During a conversation with City Manager Scott Chadwick and the police chief, Mr. Chadwick stated that mentioning “Jesus” was considered harassment, created a hostile work environment, and favored one religion over others. By Edward O’Hara, In what universe could Easter, supposedly the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus, be celebrated almost a month apart from Passover? Why would anyone think it proper to separate the two events, this year by almost a month? I must admit that I had not really considered this before. But, somehow this year it hit me that it just didn’t make any sense to have these events separated like this. As I had never before separated them in my own heart. How can Jesus’ death and resurrection be separated by weeks? When the Bible plainly says they are separated by 3 days and nights? And are actually a memorial of the same events. But, for some reason the world does this even though the 2 are linked in the Bible as happening within this 3 day and
