However, it now appears that the agency’s data, notably on the number of child COVID deaths, was erroneous by up to 24%.
When the Omicron strain of COVID spread earlier this year, the CDC’s COVID Data Tracker “gave a deceptive image” before it addressed its “coding logic issue,” claiming that infants were “dying at a substantially magnified rate,” according to the Washington Examiner. There were 1,755 all-time deaths among youngsters aged 0 to 17 years old, according to the organization. According to the agency, 738 people died in the first ten weeks of 2022.
However, after discovering a “coding logic issue,” the government released revised statistics. As a result, the COVID Data Tracker now shows 1,339 all-time fatalities, down from 1,755 at the start. This was a reduction of 23.7 percent from the previous estimate. The danger of COVID to children is “insanely low,” according to Not the Bee, compared to 1,115 child cancer fatalities in 2019.

When it comes to providing COVID data, the CDC has long been chastised for its lack of transparency. Senator Ron Johnson, a Republican, is one of the most outspoken critics of the CDC, writing a letter on March 1 criticizing the agency’s “disturbing and humiliating” lack of transparency. The Republican leader called the CDC’s decision to “withhold crucial COVID-19 data that could inform the public and potentially save lives” “unacceptable.”
Senator Johnson isn’t the only one who has criticized the CDC. According to The Blaze, American Commitment president Phil Kerpen called the agency’s numbers “completely opaque and out-of-line with CDC’s more accurate (NCHS) figure” on Twitter.

The World Health Organization (WHO) said Tuesday that it “highly endorses” the administration of COVID-19 booster doses, altering its earlier position that boosters were not required for fully vaccinated healthy persons.
“Current COVID-19 vaccinations for primary series and booster doses,” according to the WHO’s new vaccine warning, give “high levels of protection against severe disease and mortality,” even in the context of Omicron’s spread.
The WHO appeared to modify its prior position, in which it opposed the widespread use of booster injections and emphasized that it should be based on proof of individual and collective commitments to ensure global vaccination fairness.
Last year, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebereyesus proposed for a freeze on booster injections for healthy individuals until the end of 2021 to address “deep disparity” in global vaccine access.
“But for the time being, we don’t want to see widespread booster use for healthy people who are fully vaccinated,” Tedros stated in September of last year.
Tedros went after wealthy countries’ COVID-19 booster initiatives again in December, accusing them of prolonging the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Blanket booster initiatives are more likely to prolong the pandemic than to terminate it,” he stated in a news conference. “By diverting supply to nations that already have high levels of vaccination coverage, the virus will have more time to spread and evolve.”
Dr. Mike Ryan, WHO’s emergency director, previously stated that there is “no evidence” that increasing the population as a whole can provide “any more protection” for healthy people.
The new vaccine advise, on the other hand, now encourages “wide access” to booster doses, particularly for populations at risk of severe CCP (Chinese Communist Party) viral sickness, also known as the novel coronavirus.
“While the near- and medium-term supply of accessible vaccinations has significantly grown, vaccine equity remains a significant concern, and all efforts to resolve such imbalances are strongly supported,” the WHO said.

“Because BA.2 is more transmissible than BA.1, we expect to see more BA.2 detection around the world,” Van Kerkhove said at a WHO press conference, adding that there is no indication that the subvariant will produce a more severe sickness than the original.
