Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson has raised alarm about the possibility of attempts on the life of former President Donald Trump, claiming that the ongoing legal challenges to Trump suggest a growing desperation by Democrats to prevent Trump from retaking executive power.
Appearing on Adam Carolla’s podcast on Tuesday, Carlson expressed his concern that the former president could be a target for assassination.
“Graph it out, man. We’re speeding toward assassination obviously, and no one will say that but I don’t know how you can’t reach that conclusion. You know what I mean? Like, they have decided — permanent Washington, both parties — have decided that there’s something about Trump that’s so threatening to them that they just can’t have it,” Carlson said.
“It’s hard to overstate how bad this is, and I don’t know where it’s going but there’s clearly a collision imminent,” he added.
Carlson is somewhat acquainted with the man of whom he speaks, having interviewed the former president in a pretaped conversation which was released last week concurrently with the Republican presidential primary debate, which Trump abstained from.
As RTM previously reported, during that interview, Carlson bluntly asked Trump about the threat of assassination.
“It started with protests against you and then it moved to impeachment twice and now indictment,” Carlson said during the conversation. “Are you worried that they’re going to try and kill you? Why wouldn’t they try and kill you? Honestly.”
Trump’s response seemed to concur with Carlson’s concern for the former president’s life.
“They’re savage animals; they’re people that are sick,” Trump responded.
Carlson’s theory revolves around the idea that Trump’s political adversaries, unable to halt his potential rise to the Republican presidential nomination, might resort to extreme measures to prevent Trump from retaking the Oval Office.
Carlson highlighted that various strategies such as protests, impeachments and indictments have proven ineffective against Trump. Thus, he suggests that the only desperate measure left for left-wing extremists, who dread Trump’s potential second term, might be assassination.
