Watchman: Daily Devotional, One Minute They Were Worshipping God for Their Deliverance, and the Next, They Were Whining About Their Fears

Exodus 14:12-14 12 Didn't we say to you in Egypt, 'Leave us alone; let us serve the Egyptians'? It would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the desert!" 13 Moses answered the people, "Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the LORD will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. 14 The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still."

They were worshiping God for their deliverance one minute and complaining about their troubles the next. That's how it stayed for the following 40 years. What about us? That, I believe, is one of the reasons God chose the Jews; they so clearly depict man's vacillation from faith to fear. God was present in the form of a cloud in front of them. They saw God's angel.

They had witnessed the plagues in Egypt, but here, in what appeared to be insurmountable circumstances—mountains on two sides, a sea in front, and an army behind—they forgot everything God had done in the past and even what He was doing now. Fear obscures fundamental truth. It's no surprise that the phrase "Do not be fear" appears so frequently in the Bible.

Your situation is identical to theirs. God will take you to the same seemingly impossible areas to teach you that all you need to do is "be still." "The LORD will battle on your behalf...!" It is God's will to deliver you from the world and your self-confidence so that you can follow Him to the Promised Land. If you let him, he will fight for you. What if the Children of Israel had assaulted Pharaoh's trained army, believing in their own strength? God's plan is always better. His plan strengthens our trust and demonstrates to the enemy that the LORD is God.

Be still, says the Bible. Do not be scared. The Lord has won the war!

The Great Tribulation

It is our belief that the Great Tribulation referred to in the New Testament Book of Revelation (chapters 6-11) is unfolding before our eyes. In the near future, we will devote the "Tribulation" tab on our "Trending" menu to this emerging reality. As people continue to unplug from mainstream media, our commitment is to present the truth and encourage our audience to understand current events from a Biblical perspective. The Watchman

In the Bible, the Watchman is responsible for keeping watch and warning others of potential danger or impending judgment. The role is mentioned several times in the Old Testament, particularly in the book of Ezekiel. In Ezekiel 33:6, God says to the prophet Ezekiel, "But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, so that the people are not warned, and the sword comes and takes any one of them, that person is taken away in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at the watchman's hand."
