By SRH, According to Israeli media sources, Iran was reportedly planning a significant attack on Israel. However, it appears that the strikes were postponed or altered following the attack on Iran’s consulate in Damascus by Israel. The delay or change in response may have been influenced by warnings from the United States President Joe Biden’s administration. Iranian news agency Mehr initially mentioned that the attack could occur “maybe tonight,” but later deleted the video containing this claim.

Axios reports that a senior U.S. military officer will visit Israel on Thursday to work with the Israelis on defensive plans in case Iran launches an attack. In Damascus, Syria, this week, Israel carried out targeted airstrikes that claimed the lives of several members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), among them a general of the Quds Force at a high rank. Iran has promised to strike back at Israel, but its exact plans are still unknown. According to Axios, which cited information from American and Israeli officials, the United States has been helping Israel with their defensive preparations in light of this.

Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and senior Israel Defense Forces (IDF) officials are expected to have conversations with U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) chief Gen. Erik Kurilla. According to Axios, earlier this week, Gallant spoke with U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, while Israeli Minister of Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer spoke with State Secretary Antony Blinken separately.

A similar simulation carried out by the U.S. Pentagon during the height of the Cold War, according to Breaking Israel News, estimated that a nuclear war between the US, Russia, and China would kill up to 88 million Americans and 335 million Chinese and Russians, or nearly a third of these countries’ respective populations at the time.

Does the Bible foretell a potential nuclear conflict, then?

The Bible is a tremendously prophetic book, with many of its chapters discussing events that will happen centuries from now.

There are two main problems that we must address in the study of Bible prophecy:

Timing is involved in the first. When was the prophet thinking this will happen?
The second, and perhaps more serious, difficulty is interpretation.

A large number of prophets from both the Old and New Testaments were seers, seeing visions of events that would occur thousands of years in the future in some cases.

The prophets had to search their lexicon for words to express what they were witnessing when these events transpired.

When bows and swords were the most sophisticated weaponry available to them, how would they characterize a nuclear war?

What could a prophet say about the aftermath of a nuclear explosion?

Essentially, these prophets had to use words from their non-technological era to explain what they were witnessing.

Therefore, we must read these texts with that limitation in mind while searching for any additional hints they may be offering.

Breaking Israel News presented the first verse depicting nuclear destruction and examined the parallels with an end-time conflict between Israel and countries known as Gog and Magog. Other than the fact that they are in the north, not much is known about these countries.

According to Breaking Israel News, the prophet’s account of the conflict makes sense given nuclear destruction.

First of all, the conflict will end in a few hours.

And there’s fear in the evening! They vanished before daylight. That is the percentage of those who pillage us. Furthermore, a great deal of people plunder us.

According to some readings, there is a “sudden terror,” and by daybreak, the troops have vanished forever.

Second, the prophet Isaiah tells of people sheltering in caves out of fear as they escape the walled cities.

This is a little strange because, in the era when these prophecies were issued, invasions of towns typically took months or even years until the invading forces breached the walls or starved the populace to death. People also chose to flee to walled cities for safety because it was common for invading armies to simply give up and return home.

However, Isaiah observed something very different taking place in this case. People will actually literally escape the cities and hide underground due to the abrupt catastrophe.

Men will enter the rock caves.
and into the earth’s holes.
face the Lord’s terrifying wrath.

What then did Isaiah witness?

Notice how he says the people will not only be hiding in caves but as well in holes underneath the ground.

Well hiding underground does fall in line with government’s response to threats of nuclear war.

During the Cold War, governments around the world built massive underground bunkers to protect government leaders from nuclear attack, many of these are still in use today.

Cheyenne mountain located in Colorado is just such a complex. Created in the 1950s, this elaborate underground structure was built as a hiding place for government leaders in the event of a possible nuclear strike.

Cheyenne still serves as the headquarters for NORAD today.

Is this what Isaiah was seeing?

Breaking Israel News then points to a verse describing the aftermath of the battle and this is interesting:

For the stars of heaven and their constellations
Will not flash forth their light;The sun will be dark when it rises
And the moon will not shed its light.Isaiah 13:10 NASV

Basically, it describes what today is referred to as a nuclear winter when the smoke and sulfur from the devastation caused by multiple nuclear strikes would block the sun’s rays from hitting the earth, resulting in a world-wide cooling.

It is curious that Isaiah saw this happening in conjunction with the great Gog and Magog battle.
