If this theory is not a “deal breaker” then it is at least a very dark compromise with the world concerning the creation story. Because if we can compromise the plain language of the Biblical account of creation. The very foundation for all that we believe about God, Jesus, and the atonement. Then the whole Bible is compromised. And the immutable truths found in the Bible are torn from it’s pages.
When we are willing to compromise the creation account we will place ourselves in the very unenviable position of having to compromise all of the scriptures. Being forced to believe one lie after the other because they are all that can be built upon the original lie. Lies that are worse even than the one the serpent told Eve when he beguiled her into eating the fruit. Because these lies will lead to eternal separation from our Creator.
This is why we must not allow ourselves to compromise even the slightest with these very critical doctrines of the faith we find in the Genesis account of creation. Because it will wind up leavening the whole lump. So that the Bible becomes just a set of fairy tales.
In looking at the Biblical account of the creation when God brought the animals before Adam to name them, we see that it was also for the purpose of finding a help meet for Adam. God said He did this because “it was not good that the man should be alone”.
So we are told that “out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.” But, as God brought them it was soon discovered that none of these were a suitable help meet for Adam.
This is what is so beautiful about what Adam said in Gen.2:23. “This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.” When God brought her to him he immediately saw that she was someone he could relate to on his own level.
He also saw that she was a suitable mate for him so they could “be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth” as God said. The same that all Adam saw the animals had that God had brought before him to name. And now he would no longer be alone.
According to the plain language of the Bible all this happened in the same 24 hour day we see now. A day that like all the days we experience now had an evening and a morning to define them.
But, an argument is sometimes made in support of what is called “the long day theory”. It is a theory in which they say Adam could not possibly have named all the animals God created in one 24 hour day. This then is used as an excuse for the compromiser to depart from the plain language the Bible uses to describe the creation days. So that he can agree with the unbelieving world. While still seemingly remaining faithful to God.
But, why would any truly saved person want to do this? Because when he does the world no longer hates him. He is accepted by them and remains a recipient of all that the world has to offer. Showing that the real reason for this compromise is that what this world has to offer is more important to him than the treasures God has for the believer who stores his treasures in heaven by being faithful to God. Do you see now why I said these compromises lead to eternal separation from our Creator?
But, the Bible does not say Adam named all the animals God had made on that day. It says Adam named all that God brought before him on that day. And that among these there was found none that was an help meet for him. So there is no need to compromise with the world about how long each creation day was.
Another point that is brought to our attention was that by bringing these animals before Adam to name, Adam saw just what a truly special part of God’s creation he really was. Even though the animals were made from the earth just as Adam was. And who had breathed in to their nostrils the same breath of life. The fact that he was made in God’s image made him different from the rest of creation.
This is why when God put Adam into a deep sleep and took from his side and made the woman, upon seeing her Adam’s immediate response was, “This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.” Adam recognized that like him Eve too was a very special part of God’s creation. Because she too was made in the image of God as Gen.1:26 says.
There is another excuse that these compromisers with the world make concerning the creation story when they say that death was already in the earth before Adam sinned. The compromiser needs this to be true because again, this allows them to agree with the world while still seemingly remaining faithful to God.
If death was in the world before Adam sinned then Adam did not have dominion over all the earth. But, Adam’s dominion over all the earth is a truth for which Gen.1:26 is a very compelling argument. For in it God said “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.”
So it was because of this dominion that the choice Adam made to eat the fruit brought death to all of creation, and not just mankind. Even the ground on which we stand and from which we get much of the food we eat.
God said this happened because “the man has become as one of us to know good and evil” in Gen.3:22. And God said it was specifically because the man became as one of us by eating the fruit from which he gained the knowledge of good and evil that it was now necessary to send him from the garden. So he could no longer eat from the tree of life to have his physical life which was his preservative for his physical life.
So it was because he had dominion over all the earth that when he began to die, the rest of the creation God gave him dominion over began to die as well. Because when “death passed to all men” it also passed to all that Adam had dominion over. Which is why God said “cursed is the ground for your sake; cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;” in Gen.3:17.
We see here that it was because of Adam’s sin that the ground was cursed. This shows the absolute connection between Adam’s dominion over the whole earth and death’s reign when he was kept from the tree of life because he had become more like God.
We also see Paul saying that Adam’s sin brought death into the world in Rom.5:12. And not just to mankind. So this is the cause of the 1st and 2nd laws of thermodynamics that says everything is winding down. All things suffer the effects of death because all things are under death’s reign because of Adam was sent from the garden. Proving that until Adam was sent from the garden and kept from eating any more from the tree of life there was no death in the earth.
But, long day theorists need death in the earth before Adam sinned to make the events of Genesis fit with their compromise with the world. With those who have rejected the plain language of the Bible and instead believe in the theory of evolution and other such nonsense. To explain a fossil record that because they have been deceived seems to proclaim a billions of years old universe and planet earth. While the plain language of the Bible clearly shows that the earth had it’s genesis just 6,000 years ago.
This is one of the ways satan deceives. He brings people to a point of decision. And for various reasons not based on the Bible they compromise the plain language of the creation account. A compromise that allows them to continue believing While still they are remaining faithful to God. This is how satan deceives. He takes the skin of the truth and stuffs it with a great big lie.
But, the truly faithful will never make such a compromise. Because to compromise with the world will lead to death. Jesus said “If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.” And Paul said “What fellowship has light with darkness?”
The believer finds it is better that the world to hate them than to be in need of the presence of God as Paul says all those who reject Jesus are in Rom.3:23. This is why the believer will not compromise with the world. He can’t because “Whosoever is born of God doth not commit miss the mark; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot miss the mark, because he is born of God.”
Do you find yourself compromising with the world? Does your thinking line up with theirs? Or does it line up with what the Bible plainly says? If your beliefs are more in line with the world’s way of thinking than God’s there is a remedy for that…. if you want it. And that remedy brings with it the eternal life that Jesus came to provide to all mankind. And that remedy is to hit the mark by trusting in Jesus as Lord. And to believe He has raised from the dead. Will you trust in Him now? If so then pray with me.
Dear Jesus, thank you for showing me the truth. Thank you for joining with me in death. So that I can join with you in eternal life. Help me to think like you think. Help me to know you. Thank you for giving me a spirit so that as God’s child now I am heir to His kingdom. Thank you for giving me the Holy Spirit so that He can teach me all your ways. Thank you for saving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
God bless you in your new life in Christ. Now as you read the Bible believe the plain language as it’s written as we practiced in this message concerning the creation account. And you will not be deceived into compromising with the world.
See you there or in the air!
