Sending a Clear Message to Pedophiles, Society Will Not Accept Their Unthinkable Crimes…

Pedophiles share the characteristic of being “without natural affection” (Romans 1:312 Timothy 3:2). The phrase “without natural affection” is translated from one Greek word, which means “inhuman, unloving, and unsociable.” One without natural affection acts in ways that are against the social norm. This would certainly describe a pedophile.

A man in Alabama was sentenced Wednesday to more than 600 years in prison for molesting five girls, all under the age of 16, the maximum possible sentence for his crimes.

Local news affiliate WSFA 12 reported that Raven Smith, 35, was sentenced to 615 years in prison. A judge reportedly structured his sentence to make the possibility of parole unlikely.

News reports that Smith apologized to the families of his five victims in court, but the apology was not enough to sway the judge from imposing the six-century sentence. It wasn’t immediately clear if any of the sentences will be served concurrently.

District Attorney J.T. Jones appeared close to breaking down in tears during the trial when describing the extent of Smith’s crimes, which occurred over several years.

“When you deal with cases that involve children, particularly young children, it’s going to hit your heartstrings every time. You get to know them and you feel the pain they go through,” Jones told WSFA 12 after the hearing.

One victim’s mother, who was not identified to protect her daughter’s identity, told the news station that she was gratified to see that the judge had taken her advice to prevent the possibility of Smith seeing freedom again.

“I can’t believe what I said meant that much to a judge to punish this man the way I wanted him to be [punished],” the mother reportedly said.

“I don’t want them to be afraid anymore. I want them to know he’s in jail and can’t ever hurt them or anyone else,” she added. Source

God’s punishment on the rapist of a virgin—a monetary fine and lifelong responsibility—was designed to deter rape by holding the rapist responsible for his actions. He ruined her life; it was his responsibility to support her for the rest of her life. This may not sound fair to modern ears, but we don’t live in the same culture they did. In 2 Samuel 13, Prince Amnon raped his half-sister, Tamar. The horror and shame of being violated yet unmarried made Tamar beg him to marry her (her half-brother!), even after he had rejected her. And her full-brother, Absalom, was so disgusted with the situation that he murdered Amnon. That’s how highly virginity in women was prized back then.

“And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions.” (Joel 2:28.)

John Wesley who said that what we tolerate in our generation, will be embraced by the next. Wesley is 100% correct! We are living in sick times.

Usually, the Lord doth no great thing for or against his people, without giving warning of it before it comes.

They perverted justice among themselves (v. 7): “You turn judgment to wormwood, that is, you make your administrations of justice bitter and nauseous, and highly displeasing both to God and man.’’ That fruit has become a weed, a weed in the garden; as nothing is more venerable, nothing more valuable, than justice duly administered, so nothing is more hurtful, nothing more abominable, than designedly doing wrong under color and pretense of doing right. Corruptio optimi est pessima —The best, when corrupted, becomes the worst.

It is impossible to find anyone in the Bible who was a power for God who did not have enemies and was not hated.

2 Corinthians 4:8-11 New King James Version (NKJV)
8 We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; 9 persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed— 10 always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body. 11 For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus’ sake, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh.
