BY SRH New data from a private company shows that at least 21 states have reported a COVID-19 version that spread across China earlier this year. As of Thursday afternoon, the Global Initiative on Sharing All Influenza Data (GISAID) produced a map showing that 21 states in the US are reporting the COVID-19 variant NB.1.8.1. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s most recent estimate says that the NB.1.8.1 variant currently accounts up 43 percent of COVID-19 cases in the United States between June 8 and June 21.
