By SRH The director-general of the World Health Organization (WHO), Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, launched yet another diatribe against internet “misinformation/disinformation” during the UN agency’s Summit 2024. Tedros stated that the WHO’s response to that threat involved “collaborating” with various companies and partners. In his speech, the WHO chief reiterated the familiar claims against social media for amplifying the spread of false information, which subsequently fueled public doubt regarding vaccines and various medical treatments. Tedros highlighted the “stigma, discrimination, and even violence” faced by health workers, as well as “marginalized groups,” which he claimed are all consequences of the aforementioned misinformation.
