Watchman: Remember These Whoppers? (If You Believed Them, You Came to Regret It Deeply.) “This Vaccine Is Safe and Effective” “Fannie Mae Is Well-Capitalized” “Iraq Has Weapons of Mass Destruction” “Fluoride Is Safe” All BS!

The director-general of the World Health Organization (WHO), Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, launched yet another diatribe against internet “misinformation/disinformation” during the UN agency’s Summit 2024.

Tedros stated that the WHO’s response to that threat involved “collaborating” with various companies and partners.

In his speech, the WHO chief reiterated the familiar claims against social media for amplifying the spread of false information, which subsequently fueled public doubt regarding vaccines and various medical treatments.

Tedros highlighted the “stigma, discrimination, and even violence” faced by health workers, as well as “marginalized groups,” which he claimed are all consequences of the aforementioned misinformation.

This statement has been echoed repeatedly by numerous politicians and their associated media: that misleading information was “almost as deadly” as the virus (we’re referring to coronavirus, not smallpox here).

Yet, Tedros asserts that the false narratives surrounding the pandemic, lockdowns, masks, and so forth – or what he deems to be misleading information – were truly “deadly.”

With the issue laid out so theatrically, the “remedy,” no matter how extreme, should be more palatable. And the answer is, fundamentally, the suppression of free expression by major technology companies and government entities.

Tedros emphasizes the importance of trust in the WHO, yet his approach raises eyebrows, as it includes urging governments and tech and social media companies “to prevent the spread of harmful misinformation and promote access to accurate health information.”

Many of the largest entities, including nearly all governments globally, have engaged in this type of censorship for years, citing the WHO as a trustworthy source while diligently eliminating vast quantities of content labeled as misinformation, even when it was later proven to be accurate.

Considering this, it’s perplexing to grasp what further actions Tedros might desire (and in what manner), but it could relate to consolidating backing (by silencing dissenters) for the WHO Pandemic Treaty, which is presently under negotiation.

The WHO director-general highlights “misinformation” as a significant obstacle in those negotiations, pointing to assertions that the treaty’s ultimate aim is to strip sovereign nations of their decision-making power during plandemics.
