What John says here is akin to what Paul wrote in 2Cor.13:5 where he told them to “Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?” Here in 2John1:8 John says “Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.” And no wonder as it is the same Holy Spirit that inspired their teaching.
