Watchman’s Daily Devotional: The Choice to Obey Is Clearly Laid Before Us. Instead of the Many Rules of the Old Testament Law, We Have the Leading of the Holy Spirit Who Indwells Us. We Choose to Obey or Disobey Recently, the Prayer of Jabez has gained significant popularity (1 Chronicles 4:10). This prayer beautifully requests the Lord to transform our current circumstances into blessings. It is important to keep in mind that many blessings depend on our willingness to follow the right path. As believers of the New Testament, we highlight grace; however, this does not alter the principle conveyed in these verses. We continue to harvest the results of our actions. We cannot seek blessings while living in disobedience and anticipate that God will overlook our actions. The decision to comply is distinctly presented to us. Rather than adhering […]

Watchman’s Daily Devotional: The Jewish People Refer to This Passage As the Shema (To Hear). Jesus Said It Was the Greatest of All the Laws of God. He Also Said That All the Law Could Be Summed up in This Passage. First It Tells Us That Yhwh (Lord in All Caps) Is Our Elohim (Plural for God in Hebrew)

This passage is known as the Shema (to hear) among Jews. According to Jesus, it is the most important of all God’s laws. He added that this passage encapsulated the entirety of the Law. It begins by stating that YHWH (LORD in all caps) is our Elohim, which is Hebrew for “God.” Then it informs us that YHWH is one. The mystery of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is presented here. They are a single entity. They are all the same. The God of the Hebrews is one, yet religions with numerous gods distinguish the distinctions and functions of each god. That is what we call monotheism. Only total unity can be a perfect God. They would be the same if everyone else were flawless. We are then instructed to love YHWH, our Elohim, with all of our hearts.

Watchman’s Daily Devotional: How Appropriate That the One, Whose Name in English Is Jesus, Should Lead Them Into the Promised Land. Jesus Leads Us to Inherit All That God Has for Us. There in the Wilderness, Moses Was Telling the People That Joshua Was Going to Need Their Encouragement

How fitting that they should be led into the Promised Land by the one whose name is Jesus in English. Jesus shows us how to inherit everything that God has planned for us. Moses was informing the people in the wilderness that Joshua would require their support. Romans 12:8 lists leadership as one of the gifts. If it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is helping others, let him give liberally; if it is leadership, let him govern faithfully; if it is giving mercy, let him do it cheerfully. The fact that some people possess and utilize this gift does not imply that they are capable of doing it independently. They also require other people to use their gifts. In the Romans chapter, encouragement is the first gift mentioned. Although we consider the gifts to be exclusively New Testament,

Watchman’s Daily Devotional: The Same Peter Who In Fear For His Life Had Denied Jesus Now Stood Boldly Before The Same Men Who Had Convicted Jesus And Accused Them Of Murdering The Messiah

Acts 4:19-20 19 But Peter and John answered them, “Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you rather than to God, you must judge, 20 for we cannot but speak of what we have seen and heard.” The same Peter, who had denied Jesus out of fear for his life, now stood fearlessly in front of the same men who had found Jesus guilty and charged them with the Messiah’s murder. Peter was filled with the power of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit’s strength is the answer to fear. The religious authorities ordered the disciples to cease teaching about Jesus despite Peter’s anointed words. The response from Peter and John is included in today’s verse. Would listening to the rulers rather than God be correct in God’s eyes? It was obvious from their question

Watchman’s Daily Devotional: The World Lives for the Night Where Darkness Hides Their Sin. the Darkness Prevents Them From Seeing What Is Coming

This line was written during Paul’s advice on how Christians should act while they were waiting for the Lord to come back. Paul had told them that the rest of the world would be shocked, but Christians would be ready. That’s because we are kids these days. It’s light where we walk. The world loves the night because it hides their sins. They can’t see what’s coming because it’s dark. People who follow the Lord should look forward to the day He comes back and calls them to be with Him. Every day should feel like the last one. When the Lord comes back for us, we want to be busy with His work. The last thing we want is to be giving in to sin when that time comes. That’s why Paul told the church in Thessalonica to be

Watchman’s Daily Devotional: The Apostle Was Talking to False Leaders Who Were Trying to Get People to Leave the Church

The apostle was addressing false teachers who tried to attract followers from the church. These false teachers were trying to teach that godliness included food laws and celibacy. Paul encouraged Timothy to teach the truth that all foods are clean because they are sanctified by the Word of God and prayer (Genesis 9:3). Paul went on to tell Timothy to teach the church to have nothing to do with irreverent, silly myths. In other words, just ignore the foolish fictional stories these false teachers share. Instead, train yourself for godliness. The word “train” is an athletic term. It means to exercise discipline to strengthen yourself to perform your best in competition. How is this different from the works that false teachers were proclaiming? The false teachers’ works were taught as a way to become godly. Paul’s suggestion of training is

HNewsWire: Daily Devotion, Luke 10:19-21 (NIV) you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. (VIDEO)

Luke 10:19-21 (NIV) 19I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. 20However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.” 21At that time Jesus, full of joy through the Holy Spirit, said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this was your good pleasure.  Jesus had just sent out the 72 to go before Him healing the sick and preaching that the Kingdom was approaching. Such a demonstration of the power of God surely prepared people’s hearts for Jesus’ visit. This was an army with real power preparing for the entrance

Watchman’s Daily Devotional: The Lord Hears My Misery and Cares. He Comforts Those That Mourn

Hagar had been hurt. She left her safety behind because she would rather take a chance on running away, even if it meant dying. Things must have been really awful. She was in the wilderness, sure that no one cared and that no one could hear her heart. In her time of need, Jesus came to her. Yes, Jesus is the angel of the LORD. He told her that she was pregnant with a boy and that she should name him Ishmael, which means “God hears.” God heard her pain. She was not selected to carry the Seed, yet God sensed her pain. He hears us when we are at our lowest. We may assume that no one else understands, yet the angel of the LORD does. He hears our pain. The sons of Ishmael have done what verse 12

Watchman’s Daily Devotional: In 1john 2:15-17, John Wrote That the World Consists of the Lust of the Eyes, the Lust of the Flesh and the Pride of Life. Satan Was Able to Get Eve to Question God.

Understanding the nature of Satan’s schemes and their effectiveness is crucial. In 1 John 2:15–17, John said the world is made of lust and pride. The devil got Eve to question God, and she looked at the fruit. God’s children should walk by faith, not by sight. We should not allow our physical perceptions to deceive us in the spiritual realm. It looked like food. Was it? As horrible as dying! She didn’t trust what God had said, though; she let her eyes fool her. The fruit seemed like it would give her what she naturally wanted. The world never really makes you content. Usually, we think it will fill us up, but it only makes us hungrier. Like any addiction, there is some pleasure in it, but we feel like we need more money, drugs, food, sex, or whatever

Watchman’s Daily Devotional: God Gave Us All A Conscience. We Can Abuse It Or Stifle It, But It Still Tells Us That There Is Right And Wrong

God made us all with a mind. Not matter how we treat it, it still tells us what is right and wrong. Our school systems try to change it. Sometimes, our own pain is a reason to try to avoid dealing with it. Most of the time, our emotions are what try to shut it down. A young New Age woman worked with a friend of mine. She believed that all life was valuable, whether it was a dog or a person. What would she do if she saw a puppy and a baby being thrown into the Grand Canyon? If she could only save one, which would it be? She thought about it for a while. “I’m sorry to say it would be the puppy,” she finally said. If she really meant what she said, why was she sad
