Watchman’s Daily Devotional: God Gives You Options. You Can Either Follow What the Lord Told You to Do and Keep Getting Together, or You Can Take the Easy Way out. It’s Easy to Just Do What You Want. Living Stones Are Being Ground up in the Body so That They Can Fit Into Their Places in the House of God God’s name is where? Christ, it’s up to you. A lot of people in the body of Christ do what they want. This group doesn’t worship with the people on whom God has put His name, they worship on their own. It is easier to pray by yourself than with a group of people who believe. Problems are caused by people. What we need to understand is that I am one! I am also a part of the problem. Putting […]

Watchman’s Daily Devotional: Jesus Was Unstoppable in His Resurrection. Nothing Can Hinder His Certain Return. How Ought We to Live Then?

Jesus rose from the dead despite all odds. Nothing can stop Him from coming back. Then how should we live? The religious leaders asked the governor to keep an eye on the tomb because Jesus had said He would rise from the dead on the third day. They said that the disciples might try to steal the body and say that Jesus rose from the dead, which doesn’t make sense. Who would believe the story if no one saw Him alive? What would happen if the body was found later? It is clear that the Roman government would be able to look for it until they found it. The disciples would not have been moved to risk their lives to preach the faith if Jesus had not risen from the dead. It’s possible that the religious leaders were more scared

Watchman’s Daily Devotional: Has God Given You Some Kind of Disability? Over-comer, Keep Going With God. He Has Good Things in Store for You. Learn to Trust Him Alone

An “angel” came to Jacob after he realized how much he needed God. Jacob eventually called this angel “God.” All night long, he fought with this angel. He had been fighting all his life, fighting his own will and methods against God’s will and ways. That wrestling match didn’t have a winner. God kept blessing him, but not as much as he could have if he had let God win. Jacob had never given up or walked away from wrestling, though. This is what the people in this text are talking about. Back then, a name spoke a lot about a person. It seemed like it was your fate to live up to its significance. God changed Jacob’s name to show that he was a new person because he had reached this point in his life. Jacob might signify “laughter”

Watchman’s Daily Devotional: The Jewish People Refer to This Passage As the Shema (To Hear). Jesus Said It Was the Greatest of All the Laws of God. He Also Said That All the Law Could Be Summed up in This Passage. First It Tells Us That Yhwh (Lord in All Caps) Is Our Elohim (Plural for God in Hebrew)

This passage is known as the Shema (to hear) among Jews. According to Jesus, it is the most important of all God’s laws. He added that this passage encapsulated the entirety of the Law. It begins by stating that YHWH (LORD in all caps) is our Elohim, which is Hebrew for “God.” Then it informs us that YHWH is one. The mystery of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is presented here. They are a single entity. They are all the same. The God of the Hebrews is one, yet religions with numerous gods distinguish the distinctions and functions of each god. That is what we call monotheism. Only total unity can be a perfect God. They would be the same if everyone else were flawless. We are then instructed to love YHWH, our Elohim, with all of our hearts.

Watchman”s Daily Devotional: Is the Spiritual Dimension of Your Life a Greater Priority than Your Physical Desires?

The disciples were shocked and scared as they followed Jesus into Jerusalem (Mark 10:32). Jesus told them again that He would be nailed to the cross, mocked, spat upon, beaten, and killed, but that He would rise from the dead on the third day (Mark 10:33–34). As Jesus entered the city, the crowds who had heard that Lazarus had been raised from the dead received him with great joy (John 17:17–18). They started shouting parts of a song that they sang at feasts. It was one that looked like the Messiah. This word means “save us.” “Hosanna” is a call to YHWH, who is the eternal God of Israel (Psalm 118:25). This is exactly what Jesus came to do: save us. But today’s verse tells us what kind of relief they were looking for. They talked about a vision that

Watchman’s Daily Devotional: Knowing That Jesus Was Coming Today, What Would You Do Differently?

If you knew Jesus was coming today, what would you do differently? Many people think that as the world gradually turns to Jesus, the kingdom of God will arrive subtly. They hold that the earth will be aware of Christ’s invisible dominion once it is populated by individuals who are filled with the Spirit of God. That might be the case in a person’s life, but it is clearly not what Christ taught or what the prophets foretold. Jesus will not return in secrecy. He will never return in his infantile stage. Every eye will see Him when He arrives in glory (Revelation 1:7). According to Matthew 16:27, Christ is coming in strength to bring about judgment on the planet. Even when the armies of the world assemble to oppose Him (Revelation 19:19), His breath will burn them (Isaiah 11:4).

Watchman’s Daily Devotional: Just Reading The Bible Is Not Enough To Attain Eternal Life. Jesus Was Talking To People Who Studied Scripture And Memorized Large Portions Of It

39 “You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me, 40 yet you refuse to come to me that you may have life.” To gain eternal life, one must do more than simply study the Bible. Jesus was speaking to those who had learned and committed much of the Bible to memory. Those pages contain the path to life, yet living is more than just understanding the words. To know Jesus is to live. The goal of Scripture is to present us with Jesus. He taught the two traveling to Emmaus that the Law and the Prophets were about Him and what He would do by opening the Scriptures to them (Luke 24:25-27). These Scriptures are meant to help us comprehend Jesus’ life and everything that

Watchman’s Daily Devotional: Am I Operating Out Of My Own “good Ideas” Or At The Leading Of The Holy Spirit?

He told His followers to wait in Jerusalem for the baptism of the Holy Spirit before He went to heaven (Acts 1:4-5). One hundred twenty people who follow Jesus got together to pray and wait for the promise to come true. Then Peter, acting quickly, spoke up and said that Judas had to be replaced. He read a line from Psalm 109:8 that talked about someone else taking the place of Judas. Somehow, it felt like there had to be twelve, like the twelve tribes of Israel (Luke 22:28–30). Peter told the group that it had to be someone who had been with them from the start of Jesus’ mission and had seen the Lord after he rose from the dead. That was what Peter needed to do to become a missionary.

Watchman’s Daily Devotional: God Lets You Encounter Temptations to Help Build Your Strength and Determination. They Help You Strengthen Your Ability to Stand Firm on the Word of God

We embark once more on a journey through the life of Jesus, this time exploring the Gospel of Mark. At the onset of His ministry, Jesus sought out John the Baptist for baptism. John was diligently making the path ready for the Savior. As John beheld Jesus approaching, he proclaimed Him as the Lamb of God, the one who removes the sins of the world. Following the baptism of Jesus, John witnessed the Spirit of God descending upon Him and heard a heavenly voice proclaiming Jesus as the beloved Son of God. Today’s passage reveals the unfolding events that followed. The Spirit led Jesus into the wilderness. For forty days, Jesus devoted Himself to fasting and prayer. The moments spent in connection with the Divine were the bedrock of Jesus’ mission. The Spirit led Him into a period of quiet

Watchman’s Daily Devotional: The Apostle Was Talking to False Leaders Who Were Trying to Get People to Leave the Church

The apostle was addressing false teachers who tried to attract followers from the church. These false teachers were trying to teach that godliness included food laws and celibacy. Paul encouraged Timothy to teach the truth that all foods are clean because they are sanctified by the Word of God and prayer (Genesis 9:3). Paul went on to tell Timothy to teach the church to have nothing to do with irreverent, silly myths. In other words, just ignore the foolish fictional stories these false teachers share. Instead, train yourself for godliness. The word “train” is an athletic term. It means to exercise discipline to strengthen yourself to perform your best in competition. How is this different from the works that false teachers were proclaiming? The false teachers’ works were taught as a way to become godly. Paul’s suggestion of training is
