If you knew Jesus was coming today, what would you do differently?
Many people think that as the world gradually turns to Jesus, the kingdom of God will arrive subtly. They hold that the earth will be aware of Christ’s invisible dominion once it is populated by individuals who are filled with the Spirit of God. That might be the case in a person’s life, but it is clearly not what Christ taught or what the prophets foretold.
Jesus will not return in secrecy. He will never return in his infantile stage. Every eye will see Him when He arrives in glory (Revelation 1:7). According to Matthew 16:27, Christ is coming in strength to bring about judgment on the planet. Even when the armies of the world assemble to oppose Him (Revelation 19:19), His breath will burn them (Isaiah 11:4). Before He returns, a lot of people will turn to Christ, but a lot more will turn away from Him (Matthew 7:13). Denying Christ means denying Him as the path to the Father. It is an opposition to truth, mercy, and grace.
Those anticipating the Day of the Lord were warned by the prophet Amos that it would not be what they had anticipated (Amos 5:18). Only after we have turned from our selfish ways and accepted Jesus as Lord can we look forward to that day. The second coming of Jesus is just as certain as the first. According to Matthew 24:36, only the Father is aware of the day. We ought to live each day as though He were coming right now.
Matthew 24:27
27 “For as the lightning comes from the east and shines as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.”
