Watchman: A Court System Out of Control and the Supreme Court’s Ruling That Public Officials May Block Their Constituents on Social Media

By SRH, Public officials are now allowed to block their constituents on social media, according to a ruling by the Supreme Court. In Michigan, a local official blocked commenters who were critical of their COVID-19 policies.

No Free Speech allow,In a unanimous ruling on March 15, the Supreme Court determined that public officials are permitted to block individuals on social media in certain circumstances. Furthermore, the court emphasized that when public officials use their personal social media accounts to address work-related issues, they are essentially representing the government. However, these officials can only be held accountable for violating the First Amendment if they have been duly authorized by the government to communicate on its behalf.

The elected representatives have seemingly overlooked the fact that it is us, the people who elected them, and it is us, the people who finance their salaries. They should bear in mind that they are answerable to us, the citizens, as we are their employers. Employees are not permitted to impede their employers.
