Democrats Want Biden to Take Command of the National Guard in Texas

Democrats are pressuring Joe Biden to assume control of the Texas National Guard, as Governor Greg Abbott (R-Texas) continues to oppose the Biden administration's open-border policy.

Democrat Texas Reps. Joaquin Castro and Greg Casar made remarks on Tuesday and Wednesday requesting Biden to "establish sole federal control of the Texas National Guard" after Abbott said that "the Texas National Guard continues to hold the line in Eagle Pass." Texas would not abandon its attempts to safeguard the border in Biden's absence."

The Texas governor's statement came after the Supreme Court ruled 5-4 on Monday, allowing the Biden administration to demolish the razor-wire fencing Texas has built to safeguard its southern border. Abbott also stated on social media that the state would continue to safeguard the border by using "razor wire to repel illegal immigration," which he described as an effective deterrent to illegal immigration.

Republican-led governments in at least 15 states have declared their support for Texas Governor Greg Abbott's legal battle against the federal government.
