House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., is caught in the crossfire as Republican legislators argue over the future course of federal spending amid escalating tensions within the House GOP. Days into the new year, the disagreement has created a tense environment in the House of Representatives. Simultaneously, a growing segment of the Republican voter base becomes aware of Johnson’s repeated lies.

He made up claims that he would stop Biden’s disastrous budget, which was intended to bankrupt the United States, and that he would act on the border.
