Watchman’s Daily Devotional: Western Nations Are All Introducing and Implementing Very Restrictive and Oppressive Online Censorship Bills in Concert Together, Biblical Facts Will Be Censored as Hate Speech Very Soon!
And the people shall be oppressed, every one by another, and every one by his neighbour: the child shall behave himself proudly against the ancient, and the base against the honourable. Isaiah 3:5
Together, Western countries are proposing and enacting these draconian and stringent online censorship laws.
Similar measures had previously been introduced in the US, but they are now on hold. A group of senators from both parties proposed the RESTRICT Act about a year ago, promoting it as a means of limiting foreign influence and TikTok. However, the bill targets VPN users and represents a tremendous power grab over what Americans can publish online. It has very little to do with any of that.
A different measure, the EARN IT Act, was submitted in 2022 by some of the same individuals who presented RESTRICT, after failing in 2020. This would need a complete redesign of the American surveillance system, requiring all digital conversations and messages to be inspected.
Similar to what Canada is currently offering, Australia introduced its Communications Legislation Amendment (Combating Misinformation and Disinformation) Bill 2023 last year. It featured harsh fines and jail time.
In the meantime, extremely stringent internet regulations have already been put in place in other nations. New Zealand launched a program in 2022 that encourages citizens to report one another if they think that someone is a "terrorist" or a government critic. The program covers a wide range of products that could lead a neighbor to tell on their neighbors.
The EU's Digital Services Act is set to take effect this week, which is concerning because it essentially requires digital corporations to force hosting platforms and companies to remove any content they do not want to be on their services—or at the very least, very potentially. It is theoretically possible to remove people's work, content, and speech with a few clicks.
To put it briefly, with all these bills in place and more on the way, on top of the ones that have been in place for a long time, nobody will be able to post anything that even slightly deviates from the media narrative, and AI will undoubtedly continue to produce a great deal of false positives, as it has already done.
Even while all of this is horrendous and oppressive—which it is—it means we will have to work extremely hard to migrate to offline communication and go underground. Our time to enjoy this luxury is rapidly running out, and our words have consequences. Friends will therefore need to learn to control their tongues and exercise caution when and where they say things, both online and off.
Whoever does not open his mouth or use his tongue will not have problems in his soul.

The Watchman
In the Bible, the Watchman is responsible for keeping watch and warning others of potential danger or impending judgment. The role is mentioned several times in the Old Testament, particularly in the book of Ezekiel. In Ezekiel 33:6, God says to the prophet Ezekiel, "But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, so that the people are not warned, and the sword comes and takes any one of them, that person is taken away in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at the watchman's hand."
